The Center of Disease Control and Prevention has an emergency awareness and response page based off of a zombie apocalypse to help inform people on how they should be ready if a major emergency were to occur. The CDC has a range of research and information from heart disease to the worst, infectious, disease-causing agents. The CDC also shares information about how to prepare and what to do if a bioterrorism attack or pandemic were to occur. The Center of Disease and Control is a diversified government organization that has the main purpose of protecting the public against the serious threats of bioterrorism and dangerous pandemics. The Center of Disease Control and Prevention performs studies to acquire information about the health and wellness of the general public. Some of these studies include simple censuses that ask people about preexisting conditions, height, weight, age, and their family history and health. They also look to see how certain diseases affect a person’s body and how they can be dealt with. For example, the Center of Disease Control and Prevention would conduct studies of people in different age groups and family history hat already have heart disease. They then look to see if the cause of heart disease in the different age groups is influenced by any particular factors. They have found that the risk of heart disease is increased if a person has a genetic history of heart disease caused by hypercholesterolemia and by ingesting high fat foods, low exercise, and ingesting harmful products like alcohol or tobacco. The main fields that the CDC focuses these studies upon are Diseases and Conditions, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Environmental Health, Life Stages and Populations, Healthy Living, ... ... middle of paper ... ...itannica. Smallpox is a highly infectious and fatal disease caused by the Variola virus. It causes extremely painful pustules to sprout across the entire body. Spread from human to human, it has since been eradicated from the world through the efforts of the World Health Organization. However, there is a distinct possibility that it may be reintroduced through bioterrorism. Biological weapons may cause another pandemic to erupt across the world and kill millions of individuals. Through constant vigilance and careful planning, mankind can prevent this scenario.
Over the year's, our health organization's have grown to better serve our communities globally through CDC. "CDC has 23 programs designated as WHO global collaborating centers, providing our expertise and capabilities to protect Americans at home from threats abroad" (CDC, 2016). CDC continues to change their strategies against disease prevention to try to eradicate all diseases. "Many deaths in the United States are attributable to lifestyle and personal actions on the part of individuals, such as tobacco use, improper diet and activity patterns, overuse of alcohol and firearms, unsafe sexual behavior, and vehicular accidents while under the influence of alcohol" (Williams & Torrens, 2008, pp. 154). Most diseases are contributed to bad lifestyle choices, genetic's and also poor health insurance policies."Many of the health insurance plans issued at the present time do not include reimbursement for health promotion and disease prevention, and as a result, individuals who may actually have health insurance coverage of a general nature are not covered for health promotion and disease prevention services" (William & Torrens, 2008, pp.
The rapid pace of vaccine development convinces people that they are safe from the infectious diseases. Unfortunately, the anthrax outbreak in 2001, having killed five people, reveals the vulnerability of the public health, suggesting that further research on contagious epidemics should be developed abruptly. In response to this issue, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) granted Boston University a $128 million funding for the construction of a new leading facility known as the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory (NEIDL or BU Biolab), which would be sited on the Boston University Medical Campus, to battle against contagious ailments. Besides conducting research on infectious diseases, the BU Biolab will also perform research to prepare for bioterrorism (Le Duc). According to the Center for Disease Control, there are four levels of increasing of containment for research on infections ranging from Biosafety Levels 1 through 4 (BSL-1 to BSL-4). While much of the research on epidemics is done in laboratories with BSL-2 to BSL-3, the BU Biolab, with the highest level of precaution, BSL-4, will conduct research on rare contagious epidemics including anthrax, ebola, and plague, which are usually life threatening.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is a well-known, reliable, and useful resource. The website has a .gov domain, visible contact information, stable and active URLs for all links, and includes copyright and revision dates for each page. With an abundance of well researched facts, the site is frequently referenced by other authors and is a well-known reliable source. The CDC’s mission statement is to “protect America from health safety and security threats both foreign and in the U.S” (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2014). The CDC has several self-proclaimed roles but its most daunting role is to detect and react to health problems causing death and disability for Americans. The website allows the CDC to increase awareness through education to ultimately increase health security in the U.S. The website is well respected and sets the bar for accepted standards in disease prevention and healthy living.
The Chinese Center of Disease Control (CDC) which is lead by the U.S. helps the Chinese government and its people to be safe from diseases and the spread of diseases caused by zombies. The program of Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) helps the Chinese government know if the zombie apocalypse happens or is going to happen. By having this program in China, it can alert the citizen so that they can follow the direction given.
Although some government jobs don’t pay as high as their counterparts in private industry, there are high paying jobs at the CDC. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the national leader in public health promotion, prevention and preparedness. They do everything from researching new diseases to responding to public health threats to collaborating with international partners and health programs.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the governmental public health organization that administers a range of programs designed to support health promotion, prevention, and preparedness activities in the United States.1 As the federal government’s lead public health agency, CDC works to ensure health security of our nation by preventing and controlling diseases, injury, and disability risks on a national level, through epidemiological surveillance system and intensive research and investigation.1 The organization’s main goal is to improve the overall public health of the nation.2

Epidemiology research, understanding of study design and methods, hypothesis formation, and writing a scientific poster help me develop pertinent research skills to success in a future in biomedical science. I aim to earn a Ph.D. in biomedical science and continue in health science that will positively impact the population. I believe that public health can fit together with biomedical science to find insight to molecular mechanisms and complex understanding of what diseases are seen in research fields like epidemiology. I am passionate about public health and epidemiology foci of nutrition so working on a project to prevent and dec...
