Stanford Commencement Ceremony is a very prestigious, it is an honor to be asked to speak for it. In 2005 Steve Jobs was invited to speak at Stanford’s Commencement Ceremony and he delivered his speech where some of his most famous quotes came from, such as “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” -Steve Jobs. When he steps up to the podium viewers can tell that the crowed has high expectations for his speech. For Steve Jobs the 2005 Stanford Commencement speech was a success because he had a clear and focused message and it was engaging in content.
In 2005 at the Stanford Commencement Ceremony Steve Jobs gave his most famous speeches. Although Steve Jobs himself has never graduated Ivy League School or even any college he was still well qualified to speak at the Stanford Commencement Ceremony. After dropping out of college he founded the extremely well known and successful company Apple Computers. When Steve Jobs was fired from Apple he went on to founded the two companies NeXT and Pixar Animation. All of these factors impact his speech form the stories he tells to the advice he gives because he learned from all of it. Students are more likely to listen to him and take his advice because he is Steve Jobs one of the most well known successful people out there. Stanford students are already successful but they probably aspire to be successful like Steve Jobs. These factors impact how seriously people take him because if some commoner form the streets goes and speaks at Stanford they would not have the qualifications that Steve Jobs does. The purpose of Steve Jobs speech was quite clear, his message was clear and focused. To state the message simply he was asking do you love what you do. ...he last. Steve Jobs presents each item in order, nothing is out of place. Keeping his speech in order made Steve Jobs’s speech a success. It made sense and was easy to follow which make it pleasant to listen to because listeners did not have to struggle to keep up with where he was going. It make the most sense to for Steve Jobs to put his speech in chronological order.
I learned that people like stories and that telling stories is a good easy to keep your audience engaged. When analyzing this speech I found that when you relate your stories to others it makes an interesting presentation. I will use this to capture my audience 's attention and then proceed into my main points. I also found that chronologically ordered speeches make it easier for listeners to follow what is being said. I will use what I have learned to be a more effective speaker myself in the future.
