A Career in Cyber Security Cyber security is the designing, creating, using, and repairing most technological and mechanical equipment. This includes programing and creating new technology before it is mass produced in order to insure safety and quality. It also cover the use of programs to protect and fix technological and mechanical equipment from malfunctions, viruses, and hackers. Lastly, cyber security includes the repairing and upkeep of most electronically designed systems. This job is important because most of today’s world is entirely made up of system that need to be protected, maintained, and constantly improved. The higher management in cyber security usually have a master’s degree in their major or education equivalent to it. Lastly, some people do continue their education further by obtaining a PHD in their field of study. These people are usually the people that are either professors, head of research and development for technological companies, or are leaders in the field. However, just because a person has a higher degree of education does not mean that they will get a job easier. This is usually because there is more competition in that part of the field. It could also be that they are over qualified for that job and the company could pay someone less that has a lesser degree, but they still do the same
What concerns the government of the United States most is the security of the critical infrastructure from the cyber threats. The nation is depending heavily on the technology in most of its critical sectors to keep it up and running. Thus, this makes its more vulnerable to cyber-attacks from outsiders and insiders. Therefore, its protection must be a priority.
In 2012 nearly 205,000 people were employed as a physical therapist in the United States. The average salary of a physical therapist in 2012 was $79,860 per year. The number of jobs is estimated to grow 36% from 2012-2022. This job of physical therapy involves many and very important tasks to fulfill the needs of their patients. It requires many different educational requirements and you must have strong people skills.
This Branch is basically the “new kids on the block”. The Commanders intent is to have about five thousand to six thousand soldiers in the Cyber branch. The writer has not found any current accurate number of soldiers in the Cyber Branch, however, it has been observed in all the articles, that Cyber Branch need more soldiers. One major reason is the lack of people in the United State with this skill-set. This problem is not just affecting the Army. Private sectors also having a harder time finding people in the United State to do these jobs. The U.S. government needs to met this growing cyber threat head on. Cyber security is like trying to box while being blindfolded.. Cyber instability may cause massive panic in citizens of the United States. Government surveillance is one of the platforms of cyber security and it started to erupt after the 9/11 incident. The main ways the government watches people today is with cell phone, social media, and email surveillance. Should they be able to invade our privacy? Maybe. Many crimes are committed on computers everyday whether it be credit card hacks, stolen identities, or even social media accounts taken. Cyber attacks may lead people to distrust the cyber community and the people behind cyber protection.

Millions of people around the world have access to the internet at a given time, and this allows for predators to attack, scam, hack, and intrude on personal and government information. Cybersecurity is designed to counteract these attempts to ultimately allow for safe networks and computers.
In today’s society technology is used for everything. With the invention of computers and the internet this open doors to the cyber world. Today you can do almost anything without having to leave your home. The internet gives us the opportunity of shopping online, ordering food online, working from home and video chatting with friends and family across the world. Everyone has a computer and internet access in their homes. While the internet is really convenient it also opens doors for cybercrimes, loss of privacy and the need for computer security.
Every year, cybercrime costs businesses $400 billion and by 2019, cybercrime will have cost the global economy 2.1 trillion dollars (Morgan 1). But, economic loss isn’t the only problem caused by weak cybersecurity; weak cybersecurity measures could allow hackers to collect data on citizens, cause widespread death, and destroy entire nations. Despite the massive threat the problem poses, no one has yet to institute an effective solution. Although government regulation and website blocking attempt to eliminate cybercrime and cyberwarfare, an ideal solution exists in government guidance and collaboration with the private sector.
Most employers would like to hire people who have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems software engineering or computer information systems with knowledge of, and experience with, a variety of computer systems and technologies. Graduate degrees are wanted for some of the more difficult jobs.
The nation has become dependent on technology, furthermore, cyberspace. It’s encompassed in everything we deliver in our daily lives, our phones, internet, communication, purchases, entertainment, flying airplane, launching missiles, operating nuclear plants, and implicitly, our protection. The more ever-growing technology empower Americans, the more they become prey to cyber threats. The United States Executive Office of the President stated, “The President identified cybersecurity as one of the top priorities of his administration in doing so, directed a 60-day review to assess polices.” (United States Executive Office of the President, 2009, p.2). Furthermore, critical infrastructure, our network, and internet alike are identified as national assets upon which the administration will orchestrate integrated cybersecurity policies without infringing upon and protecting privacy. While protecting our infrastructure, personal privacy, and civil liberties, we have to keep in mind the private sector owns and operates the majority of our critical and digital infrastructure.
Since the beginning of time, mankind has waged war against each other. Over the years warfare has evolved, from fighting with sticks and stones to using gunpowder and launching missiles. The newest, and possibly most destructive, type of warfare is cyber warfare. Cyber warfare has the possibility to be more devastating than nuclear warfare.
My strong curiosity towards the field of Cybersecurity dates back to my pre-university days when I started reading sci-fi novels. Digital Fortress, a techno-thriller novel written by Dan Brown, explored the theme of government surveillance, security and civil liberties. This theme is brought out in the book by portraying cryptographic techniques, security policies and implications of these policies. This gravitated me towards the field of security. With little programming experience, I was eager to begin my nascent adventure in the field of Cybersecurity. Although I’ve gained exposure in the field of security during the course of my Bachelor’s degree, I believe pursuing a master’s degree in Cybersecurity will allow me to explore the field of security in greater depth and utilize it effectively to address more real-world challenges.
Cyber security is the protection of networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access. This is important because a great number of our confidential information is on computers and transmit that data across networks to other computers. As of now cyber-attack is one of the transnational issues that we are concern about in the United States. If these private networks were hack our national security infrastructure will be in distress.
