Maine is a very interesting state with a fascinating government. Federalism gives Maine’s government the possibility to help people of the state, such as providing public safety, establish and maintain school, and conduct elections. Maine’s government must be able to help the people within the state otherwise the government would be awful and the entire state would be a wreck. Not only do the people of Maine have to worry about the state government but also the national government.
Maine, just like every other state, has a state government. It consists of two house of representative members, Chelle Pingree and Michael Michaud, and two senators, Angus King and Susan Collins. Maine’s governor at the moment is Governor Paul LePage. Maine’s state government does many important things for the state, such as building roads, regulating trade within the states, and providing justice for criminals. Maine’s government represents Maine within the state and the country.
Within the federal government, there are three branches of government: judicial, legislative, and the executive branch. The legislative branch consists of the senators, 100 in total, and the representatives, 435 in total. This branch of government makes the laws. The executive branch consists of the president, vice president, and the cabinet, who is nominated by the president and must be voted at least 51 times by the senate. This branch’s job is to carry out the laws. The judicial branch consists of the federal courts and the nine Supreme Court judges nominated by the president and approved by the senate at least 51 times. The government officials all must be included within government decisions to be able to represent the people fairly. Maine’s state government does a very good job doing this. To prevent too much power within the government, there are branches that check one another in order to help the people of the country. Another way to prevent too much power in this country is to have government officials have terms to keep them from being in power for such a long time. The government is one of the most important parts of America and helps keep it a free country.

Checks and Balances. Checks and balances is a system that is a part of out U.S. Constitution. This system was put in to place so that no part of government would have too much power. The three branches: judicial, legislative and executive are constantly granting and checking the other branches actions, this is to make sure no one person can gain an excessive amount of control in government. For example according to ," the legislative branch is in charge of making laws. The executive branch can veto the law, thus making it harder for the legislative branch to pass the law. The judicial branch may also say that the law is unconstitutional and thus make sure it is not a law.The legislative branch can also remove a president or judge that is not doing his/her job properly. The executive branch appoints judges and the legislative branch approves the choice of the executive branch. Again, the branches check and balance each other so that no one branch has too much power".
Federalism can come in different forms, ideas, and interpretations, but regardless of your preference it separates the power held within our country. In any structure there must always be a way to distinguish between who has the authority over another in order to govern effectively. While there may be some cases where federalism does not seem to provide us with such a straight forward answer, such as medical marijuana and universal health care, it still does not take away from the fact that it is there and available for us to come together on important issues.

The founding fathers of the American Constitution divided the government up into the following three branches to prevent the majority from ruling with an iron fist; legislative, judicial, and executive. The three braches were created by the Constitution: Article 1, Legislative branch made up of the House and the Senate, collectively known as Congress; Article 2, Executive branch, or President; Article 3, Judicial branch, made up of the federal courts and the Supreme Court. It is often described as the dual sovereignty of governments between the national and the local to exert power in the political system. In the US it is often been justified as one of the first to introduce federalism by the ‘founding fathers’ which were developed in order to escape from the overpowered central government. However, federalism in the United States is hitherto uncertain where the power lies in the contemporary political system. Our government here in Texas has three major parts that play a significant part in our decision making process. These levels have been deigned to decentralize power and make it more affective for the public's needs. The primary level is the Texas legislature. It is almost a given to say that everyone has at least heard of the legislature. Some variables that the legislature contains are the Lt. Governor, the Speaker of the house of Representatives and Committee Chairs. The Speaker acts as the presiding officer over the house and has two levels of power. Federalism is the powers a country has, divided between the state and federal government. Federalism was not included in the articles of confederation which left the states with all of the power. Federalism was chosen in the United States because the U.S. wanted there to be more control in the National Government. The U.S State government wanted to keep some of the power, so federalism was a good system of government to choose because they got to split the powers between them. Federalism has many benefits in California. Federalism helps California by giving the state power. Each state is going to have a different diversity in which each state can govern. If California wanted to, they could establish a policy of their own. They could see how well the policy went, according to other states that have established them.
In conclusion the idea of Federalism is both very prevalent and very necessary to the way America functions. It was ratified in 1781 and is still used as the law of the land to date. Every facet of life is largely based on compromise, whether it is a relationship both friend, family, and lover, or on the job, or even with yourself. Sometimes you just have to meet in the middle, and sometime somebody needs to have more power so everything works out for the best. They are governed by their own constitutions and retain any rights that the U.S. Constitution does not exclusively grant to the federal government. The state government is limited as they cannot form alliances with other states and must honor and respect the laws and institutions of the other states. And finally there is the federal government which is the central and highest level of government in the U.S. It is divided into three branches and each branch has its own rights and power to check and balance the powers of each branch. The federal government has the power to regulate taxes, establish federal welfare programs and make laws in the interest of the nation as a whole. There are also limitations set to the federal government’s authority, as they cannot ask local law enforcements agencies to do minor administrative jobs. In conclusion Federalism is a big part of our country. Federalism does have its pros and cons but it’s safe to say that it has so far worked out fairly well. Still, we must keep in mind that federalism does affects our everyday lives and many times we take for granted that the individual in political parties will make the right decisions for the well-being of the public, though at times it is not always be the case. We must remember that for change to happen we must be involved and ready to learn and see and understand ways that we can make a difference, for at the end of the day it is our lives that are affected with every single decision that is made.
