Imagine living in a nation were the government wasn’t on your side. Everything that the government did was in there best interest without any consideration of the people. Imagine that your government was in a conflict with another government and this government had the power to say if you were getting food eat and water to drink. Imagine that in this so called nation the kids instead or going to school would rather throw rocks at members of the other nation instead of going to school. Imagine that one day that that kid that was throwing rocks might one day strap a bomb to himself and go and try to blow people up because he thinks it is the right thing to do. This is actually happing in the middle east. These so called nations are Israel and the Palestine state that is not yet a nation. In the middle east this is everyday life and all they know is that there government doesn’t care for them so they continue to fight for a cause that will never be settled because their government doesn’t want to come to an agreement. The United States is for peace and freedom for all people but they aren’t doing enough to help out the middle east. The United States must take action to settle the conflict in the middle east to preserve life for the people and save the holy land.
Before you can solve the problem in the middle east you have to understand how they became what they are today. It all started at the end of World War I and the fall of the Ottoman Empire. The southern portion of their empire was left to the British which they called “Palestine.” The Jews stated to again migrate to the area and rid it of swamps and malaria, “they did not rid the land of the few Arabs that were there though(United).” For this reason many Arabs also migrated in to this area for a better quality of life. ““In 1923 Winston Churchill claimed he created, “in an afternoon,” Trans-Jordan which separated Palestine into two parts(Kifner).” The new area east of the Jordan river was an Arab nation and called Trans-Jordan, meaning across the Jordan river, which today is known as Jordan. The land that lies west of the Jordan River remains Palestine, “which will soon be called Israel and imaginary Jewish land that is made reality(Bard 22).” The Arabs that live in the new Trans-Jordan wanted to take over the remaining part of Palestine. ...Iran are real countries the rest are just lines on a map supported by “tribes with Flags,” artificial countries created by the European countries after WWI (Kifner),” this can be changed though.
In conclusion, the mid-east has been through a lot shaping and reshaping itself. The Arabs and Jews have been through almost constant war sometimes worse the others at the battles flair up for whatever reason. Due to this constant struggle of war a cease fire must be maintained and a form of the Marshall Plan must be introduced to create jobs and reshape the nations into a more livable atmosphere. It might appear the Israel is getting less of a benefit from the idea by losing land and not having Jerusalem as their capital but this is what must be done to ensure peace or at least have a lasting peace. With their nation rebuilt maybe Israel with have a new export that creates jobs and builds there economy and is much more important than trying to take over land that will never be allowed to acquire. The United States has the power to make all of this happen. This is why it is very important for the US to get involved and stay involved in the middle east affairs.
In the novel War and Peace In the Middle East, author Avi Shlaim argues that Arab nations have been unable to escape the post-Ottoman syndrome. In particular he describes how the various powers inside and outside the region have failed to produce peace. While some of Shlaim's arguments hinder the message, I agree with his overall thesis that the Middle East problems were caused and prolonged by the failure of both powers and superpowers to take into account the regional interests of the local states.
Bob Hawke once said; “Unless and until something concrete is done about addressing the Israeli-Palestinian issue you won't get a real start on the war against terrorism.” Perhaps Hawke put into a few simple words one of the most complicated issues within our world today, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As Israel continues to strip the Palestinians of their land and fears it’s very existence because of the Palestinians terrorist acts, there seems to be no solution in sight. The world appears to be split and all over the place when it comes to this matter. According to The Middle East Institute for Understanding approximately 129 countries recognize Palestine as a state while many others do not. Over all the political matters within this issue not only affect Palestine and Israel but the world as a whole, as the Middle East and the West seem to disagree. This has had and will continue to have an enormous impact on many political affairs all over the world particularly in the current fight against terrorism. Personally I feel that the Israeli Palestinian conflict while being a very complicated matter has a simple solution. Within this issue I am a firm believer that the occupation of the West Bank by Israeli forces is extremely unjust and must come to an end. Once this is achieved a two state solution will be the most effective way to bring peace to the area. The occupation of the West Bank violates political and legal rights, human rights, and illegally forces Palestinians who have lived in the area for hundreds of years from their land. This conflict is at the height of its importance and a solution is of dire need as nuclear issues arise in the Middle East due to the tension between Israel and it’s surrounding neighbors, and the...
Terrorist attacks are a major crisis for a state, the attacks can’t only damage the state physically but they can also have an impact on the state’s economy. Nevertheless, state leaders must act accordingly and do their best to defend and protect their state. After experiencing the attack on the American embassies the President of the United States proposed a plan to have military intervention in both Iraq and Syria. The plan requires both Congressional and public approval along with the requirements brought by Just War Theory. As Crawford noted on “Just War Theory and the US Counterterror War,” no matter how bad war might be, it is necessary for there to be rules that can help prevent more harm. Thankfully, the proposed plan to go to war against ISIS can be justified on these moral grounds.
It was said that he thought he was born on July 4, 1900 (Armstrong 7). While Louis was still an infant his father, William Armstrong, abandoned his family. He spent the first years of his life living with his Grandmother since at the time his parents were going through a separation. At age 5, he moved into a home with his mother and sister, Beatrice, whom he called Mama Lucy. He grew up in a rough section of New Orleans. They were incredibly poor and did not have enough money. He would work different jobs just to take care of his family. Louis would work anywhere that he would be able to find work. He would sing on the street, which would result in his nickname, Satchelmouth that would be shorten to Satchmo. His nickname was a result of him having a wide
Recently outsourcing has been in the news, especially during political election years. It seems to be a phenomenon that is causing much concern among the population. But exactly how is outsourcing effecting both workers and businesses? And is it as big of a problem as politicians describe?
The Middle East has since time immemorial been on the global scope because of its explosive disposition. The Arab Israeli conflict has not been an exception as it has stood out to be one of the major endless conflicts not only in the region but also in the world. Its impact continues to be felt all over the world while a satisfying solution still remains intangible. A lot has also been said and written on the conflict, both factual and fallacious with some allegations being obviously evocative. All these allegations offer an array of disparate views on the conflict. This essay presents an overview of some of the major literature on the controversial conflict by offering precise and clear insights into the cause, nature, evolution and future of the Israel Arab conflict.
In 1991 in the Persian Gulf Israel was continuously bombed by Iraq. If Israel would have fought back chances are there would have had most of the Arabian countries join in with Iraq to eliminate the common enemy. Therefore the problems are yet not resolved yet it seems there is never a perfect solution to any problem. Bibliography 1. Holocaust : the Jewish tragedy Gilbert,Martin, COLLI 1986 2.
“There is no such thing as a Palestinian.” Stated former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir after three fourths of one million Palestinians had been made refugees, over five hundred towns and cities had been obliterated, and a new regional map was drawn. Every vestige of the Palestinian culture was to be erased. Resolution 181, adopted in 1947 by the United Nations declared the end of British rule over Palestine (the region between the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River) and it divided the area into two parts; a state for the Jewish and one for the Arab people, Palestine. While Israel was given statehood, Palestine was not. Since 1947, one of the most controversial issues in the Middle East, and of course the world, is the question of a Palestinian state. Because of what seems a simple question, there have been regional wars among Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq, terrorist attacks that happen, sometimes daily, displacement of families from their homes, and growing numbers of people living in poverty. Granting Palestinian statehood would significantly reduce, or alleviate, tensions in the Middle East by defining, once and for all, the area that should be Palestine and eliminating the bloodshed and battles that has been going on for many years over this land.
When it comes to jazz music, there is one name that everyone knows, whether they’ve never listened to jazz before or if they’ve listened to it their whole lives. That name is Louis Armstrong. Armstrong was one of the pioneers of jazz music, from his humble beginnings in one of New Orleans roughest districts, “the Battlefield”, to playing concerts for sold out crowds in Chicago and New York City, Louis left a massive impact on the way America listened to music for a long time. One of his premier tracks, “West End Blues”, left an impact on jazz music, which other musicians would try to emulate for years.
The Middle East has historically rebuked Western influence during their process of establishing independence. When Britain and France left the Middle East after World War II, the region saw an unprecedented opportunity to establish independent and self-sufficient states free from the Western influence they had felt for hundreds of years. In an attempt to promote nationalistic independence, the states of the region immediately formed the League of Arab States in 1945. The League recognized and promoted the autonomy of its members and collaborated in regional opposition against the West until 1948 when Israel declared independence. Israel represented then and now an intrusive Western presence in the Arab world. The ongoing Arab-Israeli conflict typifies this cultural antagonism. The Cold War refocused attention to the Middle East as a site of economic and strategic importance for both sides, yet the two hegemons of the Cold War now needed to recognize the sovereignty of the Middle Eastern states. With their statehood and power cemented, the Middle Easte...
In the case of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict the result still has not been resolved. Palestine was a land that both Jews and Arabs inhabited. Israel, West Bank of the Jordan River, and the Gaza strip. The Arabs and Jews are still fighting now for that the land that they once felt like is theirs. The Jews had that land since the time of “Adam”. The Jews wanted their land back because they once were the rightful owners. However, the other son Ishmael feels like he is the owner. The Palestinians have been there since the Ottoman Empire, but they are arguing that the Arabs have been there for the whole time. But they both have valid reasons for why they feel that they are the rightful owners. The Conflict still goes on today. Israel is fighting for land that they feel has been taken from them. The United States is allied with Israel. Today in Israel people are getting stabbed, due to their rights being taken and President Trump said “that this conflict is easy to solve”. Ironically the issue has not been solved for thousands of years. Now the United States government shows their support to ally israel with gifts such as ammunition and bombs. “The inability of the United States to build on the obvious shared interests of Palestinians and Israelis is, at best, damning testimony to the incompetence of those Americans who have made a career of processing peace without ever delivering it.” according to
The article, “Why Is There So Much Conflict in the Middle East?” written by Mirjam E. Sørli et. al corresponds a great deal with the text Politics and Change in the Middle East as far as the reasons for conflict in the Middle East. Sørli et. al disputes the idea of “Middle East exceptionalism,” which says that there is something different about Middle Easterners that make them prone to violence and conflict (142). Sørli et. al says this is not true, but rather there are very simple reasons as to why there has been conflict in the Middle East. As stated, the lack of regional natural resources such as water, oil, and arable la...
The case would be approached with the notion that a persons' way of thinking affects their feelings and actions regarding any particular situation. Approaching the case from this perspective forms the basis for cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The CBT approach allows the individual to develop a positive response to life challenges even though the situation may tend to remain similar. CBT focuses on learning, unlike other psychotherapeutic approaches which rely in abundance on analyzing and exploring individual's relationship with their immediate environment. The therapist’s role in CBT is to guide the patient through a learning process on how to develop and implement new methods of thinking and behaving throughout
Also, the United States has a strong military force and a powerful leader. “Over the past sixty years, the United States and Israel have slowly developed a strategy partnership. The United States benefited when Israel destroyed the Egyptian and Syrian armies during the 1967 and 1973 wars.” (Bowman and Bourassa). The United States and Israel’s bond has been getting stronger and stronger as the years go by because the United States have been supporting Israel for almost five decades. If they continue to have this bond with each other; the two countries, Israel and Palestine, could possibly end up having peace together once and for all because the United states could help them through it like if it were a therapist. Bill Clinton, an ex president of the United States, attempted to fix the conflict between the two countries by making a peace treaty between Israel and Jordan; another country Israel has problems with, Clinton hoped that if there was a peace treaty with Israel and Jordan then tension between Israel and Palestine would calm down a bit, but it actually did not really work out as well as he thought it would be (Bowman and Bourassa). As Clinton tried managing this conflict his action shows the effort the United States put into as an ally of Israel. Clinton
This war-torn land shows nothing but death and the dying. The ground is muddy from the rain, it’s dank and sodden. Up above the trench line is barbed wire and … nothing else. No birds, no animals … no people. A few dead bodies of the brave men going to assassinate the enemy by night fall, but stopped dead in their tracks, they got picked off by the sharpshooters. No! No one ever makes it! Never! There is a constant sound of gun blasts and the sound of explosions from the grenades. The dark is lit up by the flashes of the guns against the silver clouded sky. Nobody dares to look up for more than a few seconds otherwise they will be taken out.
