As a Comp 1 student, I have learned a lot of important information about the process of writing. Even though writing essays is not the easiest thing to do, I have enjoyed the challenging experience of writing papers. Before entering Comp 1, I was not a very good writer, but English Comp has helped me realize both my strengths and weaknesses as a writer.
First and foremost, we started off the year by writing a narrative essay about a time life changed for us. It was very easy for me to write this essay because I was able to tell my story without having to include research. In addition to changing the format of our paper, we also had to add five hundred more words. I thought that it was very difficult to write this paper because I had to delete all of my opinions from the other paper and do a lot more research to reach my word count. To add to my paper, I stated more facts and added another subtopic. I learned that when writing an informative piece, I must only include facts. To create my presentation, I added all of the important facts from my argumentative paper, along with both viewpoints of the topic. While presenting my presentation, my mindset was to not only inform the class of what my paper was about, but to also encourage each person to refrain from distracted driving. I did not like presenting because I do not like standing up to speak in front of a crowd, but I did enjoy getting to watch everyone else in the class present because I was able to learn a lot of things that I did not know
