Adolf Hitler once said, “The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.” These are wise words coming from a man who was known for his dictatorship of Germany and the genocide of millions of Jews. America is a nation that was established by its founding fathers, men who were determined to create a country where there would be liberty, peace, and justice for all. Women and men alike come from all areas of the world to create lives for themselves in an empire where their rights and families are expected to be protected by the government. Citizens of America, neutralized or natural born, have the right to freedom of speech, a fair trial and even the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” This act has led to providing citizens with the right to purchase and conceal a weapon, yet some people are known to be abusing their privilege. In the past decade Americans have witnessed countless mass shootings that have led to the deaths of many innocent adults and children. Reform bills and changes to the current laws on gun control were put in place, yet many did not made to the house or senate. The National Rifle Association’s influence over society, the economy, and even politicians is that reason why Americans have witnessed insufficient action on gun control despite mass shootings.
