This research paper seeks to design a democratization model for a Post-al-Asad regime in Syria. At the same time as the uprising goes on in Syria there should be discussion of a possible transition into a real democracy. The conflicts have not yet ended in Syria and there are possibilities that the revolts will succeed and Syria will be facing massive challenges for a transition that might be either democratic or not democratic. It is an essential time for Syria to design a good model of democracy to be able to have a peaceful and democratic Syria and to be able to bring stability, harmony, and solidarity without any vicious sectarian conflict among numerous groups. Moreover, the Asad regime has less chances of surviving the current opposition and outside observers so there should be a proposal for what the institutions for a future democratic Syria will look like. The current regime represents more than interest of his family and the ruling party, and Alawite community whose members have been dominating the majority (Sunni Muslims) for more than forty years.
II. Introduction
The brutal regime of Bashar al-Asad has been ruling this country for over forty years. The tyrant and autocratic government kept employing its loyal military forces and sectarian thugs to crush the opposition and reassert its tyranny. In this model, along with government’s interventions work by people is the central factor for production and with that for economic growth, as it is the work of people that puts all other production factors raw materials, technology, and money to work. At the same time, work and with it the right to work is seen as important to the life and development of the individual, not just in a material but also in a personal and social sense (Carlsson & Lindgren, 2007). Furthermore, we recommend creating a conservative liberal democracy by defining citizens’ rights and obligations, government’s rights and obligations, election, liberty, equality, minority groups' rights, the role of Islam in this model, and the feasibility of the survival and success of this democratic model in the twenty first century's political world.
The war in Syria has been going on for six years now, killing more than a quarter million people and forcing over 10 million people to leave their homes. It has started with a peaceful protest and is now a full on genocide of people dying. The protest was for the arrest and torturing of Syrian teens for the graffiti of their anti government on a wall. When people form other people that were tired of the government saw this, they wanted their president to make major reforms of their democracy. He didn't like that, so he responded with a violent reaction. He killed thousands of Syrians and more from starvation. As the war went on, more people came in to play a role in the war. These people were from many different places. It has gotten so bad that politicians don't know what to do to stop it.
There is always that one person that stirs the pot in a situation that could have been solved rather quickly without them interfering. This is exactly what happened in Syria. The Syrian Civil War began when a peaceful protest when a group of teenagers who were writing anti-government graffiti on a wall. The crisis in Syria has escalated by protests in March 2011 calling for the release of all political prisoners. National security forces responded to widespread peaceful demonstrations with the use of brutal violence. The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad refused to stop attacks and allow for implementation of the reforms requested by the demonstrators. By July 2011, firsthand accounts emerged from witnesses, victims, and the media that government forces had subjected innocent civilians to detention, torture, and the use of heavy weaponry. The Syrian people were also subjected to the Shabiha, a largely armed state sponsored militia fighting with security forces. Al-Assad continually denied responsibility to these crimes and placed blame on the armed groups and terrorists for these actions.
