The calm before the storm is what my mother would call the motherents before the arrival of our extended family at events and parties. All feigns of organization fell to the wayside upon the arrival of our ever growing brood. The five of us are the smallest unit amongst the rest. Our home considered rather small with just three bedrooms and two baths right on the edge of the now “hip” Mission District of San Francisco, but it was comfortable and sufficient for just the five of us. We only hosted Christmas at our home the one time; we learned our lesson pretty quick. Our family never had many set traditions. We had no annual vacations or activities outside of spending holidays with each other. Spending important holidays and celebrating milestones together is the only tradition in our family. Whether it is a birthday, a graduation, or Christmas you can expect to see the whole family, even …show more content…
She’s the funniest person in our family, and the funniest person I know. She’s always had a great appreciation for anyone with a sharp tongue or a good joke no matter the age. There is no generational hierarchy in our family, the only ranks are based on your ability to keep up with the conversation. My mother is especially good at discerning who in our family will be the best to sit with at dinner. She prides herself on raising three children who could all hold their own when it comes to humor and conversation. I think it would be the bane of my mother’s existence if one of her kids couldn’t keep up with the discussion. Being able to make a go of it has been something she’s continually held us to and expected of us even early on. That expectation a being put on you at such an early age has ultimately molded us into the people we are today. I know for a fact that if it weren’t for our household atmosphere and the continuous importance put on conversational skills I wouldn’t be doing comedy, or be where I am
Guillermo - (Memo): Enrique Castiliio he was very studious, he was always studying and you get the feeling that he knew it was his only way out.
Another funny story, and if you knew my mom you appreciated her sense of humor and her love of laughter; but another example of how she led her life. Instead of saying something mean she put the burden on herself. And now I will tell you about all the times my mom said mean things to me and other people.
Family, a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. Although family is a concretely defined term, the idea of family varies from person to person. But, what makes a family? For those who are surrounded by loving blood relatives, for those who have never known the one to grant them life, for those who have left their blood behind for a more loving and nurturing environment, what can commonly define a family? Family is something defined by the individual. Family includes those who you have come to love, whether platonically or romantically, those you have suffered with, those you have come to respect, and most importantly those you have cared for and in turn have cared for you. To one that could mean people who
My neuclear family consists of my mother, father, older brother and twin sister. When raising us, my family did not follow the norms of masculinity or femininity, but was based on an egalitarian relationship. Gender roles were not taught at all in fact, throughout my extended family, males and females are treated the same. The divisions of labor, or separation of tasks, in our household are separated throughout the children, my sister, brother and I. Each of us have different chores to take care of around the house. For example, we have a chore chart and my parents assigned us different chores for the day. Me and my sister do most of the laundry and each individual person has to clean up their own rooms and bathrooms. The power relationships vary among my parents. My dad has all the power financially and my mom has the power of influence. They're weren't any power struggles within the family.
To go into every minute detail that separates three generations would require a multi-volume set of books, so for the sake of time I will focus on a few major aspects. The first thing that comes to mind is technology. In the last century life has been dramatically altered by major technological advancements. From communication, to transportation, to medicine, nearly every facet of life has evolved in the last century. I grew up in a much different world than my parents, grandparents and especially great grandparents.
For this assignment my topic will be on how my family, my personality and my experiences have shaped me into who I am today. I will be talking about when I first arrived to the United States from the Dominican Republic; on the things I became interested on; on the programs I’ve been on and the people I met there and on how they influenced me to attend college and pursue an Computer Engineering major. I will write on how I was introduced to rock/pop-rock music by my friend back in the Bronx and on how I was introduced to online gaming by my cousins. I can give of my essay four different paragraphs on the three things that made influenced me. One could be about how my family encouraged me to go to college. Another could be on how I became obsessed
“Families are the compass that guides us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter.” My family has taught me many important qualities in order to reach success. One thing I have always been taught is that you ultimately control you and the way you act upon every situation. Throughout my life, my parents have strived to teach me how to be successful in what I do. I don’t remember how old I was when my mom and dad first taught me the importance of being involved and being respectful. I guess it’s just something that I have grown up with.
How can a simple six letter word be so complicated to define? Family is a single word that is open to many interpretations depending on the individual. If you try to condense this ideal to a single clinical definition you end up excluding numerous members of society. What comes to mind when you think of the word family? While in the most broken down and literal sense, family means a relative with a blood or legal bond, the word family can encompass blood relations, adoptions, and even intentional relationships such as friendships. Economies, cultures, and backgrounds can further differentiate what one’s perception of a family is. For many people, including me, a family is so much more. It is the amount of commitment, cohesiveness, and importance
My dad’s parents would always take me and my brother places, one of the best things was going to the Oceanside pier and looking at what fishermen caught in their buckets. I seem to spend a lot more time with my dad’s side of the family because for one they live next to me unlike my mom’s side of the family. Every year we have a Knott’s Berry Farm get away for the weekend with all the family and during summer we all go camping together for a week. Even when I was little we had family vacations and we would all go down to Mexico and camp on the beach. I was looking at old pictures and I found a picture of me and this little girl it turns out she was just a little girl who lived in Mexico that I would play with. The interesting thing about this
It’s hard to imagine all the events that led up to ourselves coming into the world or at least it is hard to some people. When I think about all my ancestors that had to survive all the things I read about in textbooks it’s a miracle we are all here. Trying to learn about all the people in my family’s tree was interesting to know how my ancestors came about, what they did, and how long they lived. I learned mostly about my mother’s side of the family who have lived and flourished in andrews, texas where I am from. I haven’t done anything great yet but I am hoping when my grandchildren have to write about me they have something awesome to write about and will think I did something good with my life.
Despite what some people believe, there is no such thing as a perfect family. All families have their faults and sometimes it’s enough to tear a family apart, but if all of the members of a family care for one another and are willing to go the extra mile to help each other, then it’s good enough. My parents always tell me, “No matter what your decision is, we will support you no matter what.” Whenever I feel like the world is against me or if my life just isn’t going how I want it to, I know that I can always lean on my family for support. My family consists of my dad, my mom, my sister, my grandma, and me. Each of my family members have their own special place in my heart, and so in this personal anthology, I hope to share what each of my family member mean to me.
They say grandparents, are the two most favorite people in the world to children. Grandparents are the main characters of your childhood, they are the ones that leave you with the most beautiful memories of your life. Some grandparent’s teach you a very valuable lesson of life, they teach you respect, hard work, family values, and unlimited love. They show you their love in many ways, they say I love you in words as well as actions. Grandparents are the ones that sometimes get you out of trouble and guide you to the correct path. They show you trust, a trust that cannot never be broken.
Personal Statement Twenty years ago, I was delivered by my grandpa to the Fillmore County Hospital. My parents agreed on the name Brittney Lynn Reinsch, naming me after my grandpa. As you can tell, my family is very close knit. My grandpa has been my doctor since before I was born, everyone lives no more than three hours away from each other, holidays consist of two days of family, and everyone hugs before leaving. I am a very lucky girl as I get to have three families.
After writing about my history and the themes I selected, I have learned a lot about who I am in society. I have realized that I am an average girl that has not experienced much of life. During this analysis I have come to realize I have not had much contact with other family types or other cultures.
There are so many different types of family relationships. Whatever form a family takes; it is an important part of everyone’s life. My family has played an important role in my life. Good family relationships serve as a foundation to interactions with others. Supportive families will help children to thrive. The quality of the family relationship is more important than the size of the family. Making the relationships priority, communication, and providing support for one another is key to developing relationships. Family relationships are what make up our world today; they shape the ways that we see things and the ways that we do things.
