There are many types of people in this world; there are athletic people, artistic people, smart people, and not the brightest people. Most importantly, there are Creators and Victims. In Dr. Skip Downing’s book, On Course: Strategies for Creating Success in College and in Life, he describes who Creators and Victims are. Downing says, “A mindset is a collection of beliefs and attitudes.” (42) A Creator is a person who has a mindset of thinking differently about the choices that they make by not blaming anyone for their mistakes and take responsibility for their actions, leading them to better outcomes. I for one, am a Creator and do not push my actions towards others. The scenario was about a college class given the assignment to have their textbooks the first day of class. The first student, the Victim, did not show up with a textbook due to not being able to find it in the bookstore. The second student, the Creator, had the textbook the first day because he/she did not give up and completed the assignment. The first student is the Victim because he/she did not ask questions where else to find the book or think to check other places, while the second student is the Creator because he/she went to several places to find the book. The Victim blamed the bookstore for not having the book instead of owning up to her actions. Mirman says, “Rather than continuing as a Victim, resolve to become a Creator.”(Mirman), meaning that instead of giving up and not taking responsibility for ones actions, be more creative and think about ones
She demonstrated caring for her student because when she analyzed more the situation; she realized that student was going through a rough and busy point in her life since she had to look after her ill mother and still have time to focus on her studies. Ramirez demonstrated a sense of compassion by assigning a less harsh punishment than the actual one that is imposed by the school because she either related to that student or had a sense of kindness towards that student. Ramirez demonstrated respect because she was being considerate of the impacts that this harsh decision would have on the student’s academic success towards graduation and the loss of a potential job offer after graduation. Playing the victim in various situations is far from difficult. Victims have a tendency to sit back and watch their life fall to pieces. A victim is someone who blames others that predict defeat and also gives up. For example, in the article, “Do you think like a victim or a creator,” “what the first student had said – “it wasn’t my fault, it was the bookstore’s fault” – was, indeed, true. However, it was not helpful to her cause. At the end of the day, she did not achieve her goal (obtaining the book).” (David Marman) This person pertains to a victim because she gave a false statement that cannot achieve her goal. Being a creator can be tough also but enables you to change the direction in which your life is headed. A creator asks questions pertaining to how to accomplish their goals, which think positively, and look for a better choice. For example, in the article, “Do you think like a victim or a creator,” “the second student did not ask “Whose fault is it I don’t have the book?” but instead asked “What can I do to get the text I need?”. When her first answer did not lead her to her goal, she asked the question again, and again, until she finally achieved her goal.” (David Marman) This person pertained to a creator because she thought of ways to achieve her goal instead of blaming others for the situation. If I think like a creator, I can accomplish my goals of succeeding in college, along with succeeding in life as well.
The question “What makes us who we are?” has perplexed many scholars, scientists, and theorists over the years. This is a question that we still may have not found an answer to. There are theories that people are born “good”, “evil”, and as “blank slates”, but it is hard to prove any of these theories consistently. There have been countless cases of people who have grown up in “good” homes with loving parents, yet their destiny was to inflict destruction on others. On the other hand, there have been just as many cases of people who grew up on the streets without the guidance of a parental figure, but they chose to make a bad situation into a good one by growing up to do something worthwhile for mankind. For this reason, it is nearly impossible to determine what makes a human being choose the way he/she behaves. Mary Shelley (1797-1851) published a novel in 1818 to voice her opinions about determining personality and the consequences and repercussions of alienation. Shelley uses the ideas of Jean-Jacques Rousseau to make her point. Rousseau proposed the idea that man is essentially "good" in the beginning of life, but civilization and education can corrupt and warp a human mind and soul. In Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (hereafter referred to as Frankenstein), Victor Frankenstein’s creature with human characteristics shows us that people are born with loving, caring, and moral feelings, but the creature demonstrates how the influence of society can change one’s outlook of others and life itself by his reactions to adversity at “birth”, and his actions after being alienated and rejected by humans several times.

Most of the time, young minds are not always capable of making good decisions. Romeo and Juliet refused to see this, which ultimately led them to their demise. Their course of action had disrupted the great chain of being, which started and concluded the chaos in the play. Furthermore, Shakespeare had written out alternate option for both the lovers and yet, they both refused to see them, and continued to disrupt the system. Finally, Romeo and Juliet had acted with haste, sealing their tragic fate.The choices the that the two “star-crossed lovers” made, led them to their death.
Victimology is the scientific study of the physical, emotional, and financial harm people suffer from illegal activities. A common struggle Victimologists face is determining who the victim is. In general, crimes don 't have an “ideal victim”. The term ideal victims refer to someone who receives the most sympathy from society (Christie, 2016). An example of this would be a hardworking, honest man who on his way to work, had his wallet taken by force. Most people in society would have sympathy for him. He spent his life making an honest living to earn what he has and was a victim of a robbery. The differences between a victim and a creator is the level of responsibility. A victim prefers to blame other because they don’t want to take responsibility for the mistakes that they made. An example of a victim uses defender strategies. For example, when you are failing a class, and you just give up and stop trying and instead of working harder you blame the teacher or other people, and then you start saying things like “ that teacher sucks at teaching”, and you just start saying negative thing of other people and sometimes yourself, sometimes you even critisize yourself and thats the inner critic mindset. Serial killers have many frightening facets. The most frightening thing about them is that experts still do not know what makes a human become a serial killer. Many experts believe serial killers become what they are because they have a genetic disposition or brain abnormality while other experts believe that a serial killer is created by childhood abuse; and some other experts believe that it is a combination of both brain abnormalities and abusive childhood experiences that creates a serial killer. A murderer is considered a serial killer when they “murder three or more persons in at least three separate events with a “cooling off period” between kills” (Mitchell and Aamodt 40). When defining a serial killer, their background, genes, and brain are not mentioned; perhaps one day those aspects of the serial killer can be included.
What makes a criminal? This is a question that I hope to divulge a plausible answer for. Criminals are people who are liable of deplorable rough unlawful acts, which maltreat the laws of a nation.
