“A college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open a door to a world of opportunity,” claims Dan Rather, an American journalist and former anchor of CBS Evening News. In college it is said that it is the time to explore different things that relate to careers you may want in the future. That can mean a wide range of things from the medical field to the business field or even a major in enigmatology (which is the study of puzzles). I loved to draw with all kinds of medium including color pencils, crayons, markers, pens, you name it. That led me to wa...

...ost difficult time because he felt like he had lost his daughter because I acted so differently than I did before I heard voices. He would be furious at me constantly. He didn’t understand why I couldn’t just ignore the voices and move on with my life. Despite the fact that I didn’t rise above his standards I rose above in my own way by doing well in school and try to live an everyday life in which I was happy which took a while and happened after I persevered till the voices were almost completely gone.
While the process of applying and getting into college is hard, remember that someone out there might be having a harder time and may not even have colleges and universities available to them. Ultimately, people should take risks and pick a major that they love so work won’t seem like work, and have persistence as well as determination. Seek things through the end.
