A Career as a Social Worker

A social worker has a very important job. Social workers help children and families in need of food, homes, and health care. They help children have a brighter future. There are many different types of social work. There are mental health, child and family, elementary, and high school social workers. There are advantages to being a social worker. One example is social workers get to save children. They take the child or children out of an abusive home, weather that is mental abuse, or physical abuse. Social workers also find ways to help the family if they have an illness and can not take care of the child or children, or have a problem with drugs or alcohol and are unfit to care for the child or children. The social worker gets to decide if the home is a safe environment for the child to grow and become a young adult. Also when becoming a social worker, there are times when the child needs to be placed in foster care when the parent(s) are unfit to care for the child. When putting a child in foster care, they will be given a safe place to live and blossom into a young adult. Also it gives them hope. Hope for a better life, and a better future. It also gives them a sense of security, that they will be safe from their parent(s) ever harming them again. One of the challenges of being a social worker is, stepping in and helping with the problem. Social Workers have to help the child if they are being abused or neglected in the home. Or even if the home is just not fit to live in. They need help to become safe and the chance of a better future. If the time ever occurs, action may need to be taken.
