Radiology Technologist have been around for almost a century. “Radiology Technologist works in various places taking diagnostic imaging examinations for patients, which are x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging, and mammography.” (eHow) This job is one of the few in the world that can give the risk of cancer to the rad-techs. And is stilled one of the most needed in the medical field. Radiology Technologist needs to understand computers and what the x-rays show, and how to set up a patient for and x-ray to be taken. Radiology Technologist are one of the highest paid in the medical field. This is because the job has more risk than any other job in the medical field. The radiology technologists have used x-rays for what has almost been in use for medical interest for over 90 years. However, x-rays have been in use for entertainment and fun for almost 100 years. The call for radiology technicians is going to raise by at least 14% in the next six years, because x-rays are the only way for a person to see inside their body and see what type of injuries and health issues they are facing.

The first x-ray was discovered by a German physics professor, named Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen, using cathode tubes when he made transparent images using his wife’s hand. After months of being used as entertainment, physicians saw that x-rays could be use in the field of medicine to give diagnoses and treat injuries and diseases like cancer. In 1920, Ed Jerman and 13 x-ray technicians (half of them were women, which continues to dominate the field) established the American Association of Radiological Technicians to “[afford] technicians an opportunity for the interchange of thoughts and ideas concerned with radiologic technique.” (ASRT, 2010.)

In the long run, in order to become a radiology technologist can be a very difficult task, and only the most resilient can get in. Those who want to actually have a career in this field of medical services. And if the student does get into this career choice, then they will be able to be rewarded for the rest of their lives with benefits and pay raises that will be included throughout their job career.
