1. Organization and self-regulation: John has adequate organization and independently accomplishes his chores and some schoolwork. John extends this organization and independent functioning when he socializes with his friends. Ms. Johnson has noticed some disorganized patterns of behavior, such as believing that he can communicate with characters through the television during particular programs and talking to himself. John also struggles with being able to consistently take his prescribed medications. John exhibits a limited range of self-regulation. John reports that he has had many sexual partners and does not always practice safe sex; indicating that he has limited self-control and is highly impulsive. Throughout John’s life he has struggled with conduct issues at home and in school. John has consistently been engaged in physical altercations in both his home and at school. John seems to struggle with underlying mental issues, which prevent him from self-regulating. John …show more content…

John has a history of explosive and violent altercations with people. In recent arguments that involved John’s parents on separate occasions, John made suicidal threats and ended up injuring himself during one of the altercations. While discussing his suicide attempt during his hospitalization, he stated, “I just want them [my family] to listen to me.” John has mixed emotions towards his caretakers because he does not receive the attention and care he desires, and he receives little to no positive feedback for his behaviors. John’s need for attention from anyone he comes into contact with explains why he believes that he needs to “be bad” in school in order to gain the respect he feels that he deserves from his parents. John’s promiscuous behavior and sexual history also highlight his desire for attention. John has had several partners, which compensate for his lack of relationships with his
