Deciding on this career for my research popped into my head because being a veterinarian was always a dream that my child had always imagined of becoming. Also writing about this would increase my knowledge further of what veterinarians and what steps are necessary in order to become one if I am still interested in it. Knowing what to do is difficult for many including myself and doing any type of research and collecting data would help benefit me for the future to prepare for what I may come across. Those are some reasons as to why this decision for my career research came to be. A veterinarian is a person who provides medical care for animals. They diagnose, prevent, and treat a variety of illnesses and diseases that animals such as dogs, cats, and rabbits can catch. Students pursuing a job in the veterinary field can go to any college they want to. It can be a UC, a CSU, or even a community college. As long as they major in a field that covers the general topics that are needed in the vet program, they are on the right track. Though it may be preferred to be an animal science major, other majors like biology or biochemistry will work. This is because those majors cover the basic topics you need to know to get into a veterinary school like chemistry, organic chemistry, Biochem, physics, general biology, math, and general education. A more cost effective option, though, is that student can choose to attend a community college for their general education and then transfer into a CSU. For example, they could go to mission college, take all the general courses like COMM, math, and English before transferring back to a CSU to complete their major during their sophomore
The complexity and diversity of the animal kingdom has always captivated me. This has resulted in a desire to accomplish a place in Veterinary Nursing. This aspiration has it’s origins in an early family life occupied with animals and pets, a developing interest in the science and wellbeing of animals and an expanding sense of duty for the care we owe to the creatures which convey true companionship and loyalty. Being able to work and handle animals is a dream come true; it allows people to see what a pet could do for it’s handler. Maintaining a job that researches certain illnesses and broken bones allows a veterinarian technician to help animals in need. This helps bridge the gap between environment and families all over the world who love animals.
Equine veterinarians are animal doctors who provide medical care for horses. They examine, test and occasionally operate on or euthanize the animals. For as long as I can remember, my childhood dream has always been wanting to become a veterinarian. While other kids were outside having fun at the playground, I was at the library reading books and learning about the different animals. However, as I matured, I realized that being a veterinarian isn’t just about caring for and assisting injured animals. Being a veterinarian means having the ability to make quick decisions in stressful situations, showing complete dedication and passion to this profession, and being able to effectively communicate to pet owners.

Not only do you need at least $147,000 for a four year tuition at a public institution today, but the admission rates are often somewhere between 6.8% and 34.9%. "Additionally, you need to get an undergrad college degree before attending, prerequisites in biology, chemistry, math, and any other required courses, and you need really good grades in them." Clearly, the veterinarian work isn't cut out for just anyone.
In order to be a large animal veterinarian you must have to complete at least four years of college. You do not need a masters degree, only a bachelor’s degree.Your undergraduate education should mostly focus on the following: biology, zoology, physiology, anatomy,and microbiology. Colleges and universities, such as Colorado State University and the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science are well known for their veterinary medicine programs. These school are just a few among many schools that have good programs in veterinary medicine.
Many people have lost their pets and close family members because there is no way to get the help or medical attention that the animal so desperately needed. Every day in the United States, veterinarians are working hard to save animal’s lives. People will always continue to want and to breed pets. Therefore, to help and cure all these pets, a steady stream of veterinarians will be needed for many years to come. Over the years, the requirements and processes to becoming a veterinarian have changed. To become a successful veterinarian one must complete all necessary education and on the job training, be friendly and love animals, and have a burning passion to help both the pet and the pet owner.

As they first start off at a hospital or clinic they make on average forty thousand to sixty thousand depending on what size preference (small or large) animals they work with (“How Much”). Veterinarian 's salary is that high because of their duties; they are to examine the animals’, diagnose and treat the animals, dress wounds, perform surgery, test and vaccinate the animals, operate the machinery needed, give advice to owners, write prescriptions; fill them, and do euthanizations. Working with animals is not the only part of their duties they have to continue to work on being compassionate,their decision-making skills, interpersonal skills, management skills, manual dexterity, and their problem-solving skills. While the veterinarians are working they are trying to improve on the public health by diagnosing, treating, researching on illnesses for all types of animals (“Veterinarians: Career”). As veterinarians give vaccinations and do regular check-ups they prevent some of the complications the animal can acquire. Veterinarians uses medicine to diagnose, treat diseases and dysfunction of animals. Medicine used such as antibiotics and vaccines. A veterinarian’s role in their career is to help and serve also trying to find a new treatment to disorders for humans and animals. Some vets teach other people or other vets how to do something.
Veterinarians provide medical services for animals that are big and small. Helping sick animals weather they are big or small. They provide medicine for house pets and farm animals. When owners take there pet to the vet they are looking for someone to provide information to them about their animal. Some of the information given to the own is about how to properly care for your animal to make sure it grows the right why. Veterinarians are there to help animals no matter the size.
When I was growing up and always playing with animals, I realized what I might want to do with my life. Since animals are, for the most part, vulnerable and helpless, they need someone to take care of them. For animals in need to survive and carry on, there must be a caring person willing to take time out of their day to care for these animals. This person is responsible for providing care such as feeding, cleaning, giving water and administering medication to animals in veterinary offices, zoos, laboratories or animal hospitals. I strive to be a veterinarian because I love animals and I enjoy taking care of them. Ever since the beginning of the human race there has been veterinary medicine. Agriculture and the domestication of animals began around 3000 B.C. However, there aren’t many records on the failures and successes of the early veterinarians. The early Egyptian, Babylonian, and Hindu civilizations were the first to leave some records of veterinarian medicine. We didn’t first get veterinary hospitals until about 250 B.C. In 1862 the Department of Agriculture (USDA) was created. However, the American Veterinary Medical Association wasn’t found until 1863 after many unsuccessful attempts at organization. “In 1884, another milestone was passed with enactment of the Hatch Act, creating the Bureau of Animal Industry within the Department of Agriculture (Swope 19).” In the last 25 years veterinary medicine has assumed a leading role in the advancement of many researches. Some of them are the advancement of research in the medical use of atomic energy, in diseases common to humans and animals, etc.
