Deciding on this career for my research popped into my head because being a veterinarian was always a dream that my child had always imagined of becoming. Also writing about this would increase my knowledge further of what veterinarians and what steps are necessary in order to become one if I am still interested in it. Knowing what to do is difficult for many including myself and doing any type of research and collecting data would help benefit me for the future to prepare for what I may come across. Those are some reasons as to why this decision for my career research came to be. A veterinarian is a person who provides medical care for animals. They diagnose, prevent, and treat a variety of illnesses and diseases that animals such as dogs, cats, and rabbits can catch. Veterinarians also administer tests, observe conditions, perform surgery, and can prescribe medication or therapy for animals. They can choose to work in either …show more content…

Students pursuing a job in the veterinary field can go to any college they want to. It can be a UC, a CSU, or even a community college. As long as they major in a field that covers the general topics that are needed in the vet program, they are on the right track. Though it may be preferred to be an animal science major, other majors like biology or biochemistry will work. This is because those majors cover the basic topics you need to know to get into a veterinary school like chemistry, organic chemistry, Biochem, physics, general biology, math, and general education. A more cost effective option, though, is that student can choose to attend a community college for their general education and then transfer into a CSU. For example, they could go to mission college, take all the general courses like COMM, math, and English before transferring back to a CSU to complete their major during their sophomore
