She has been known to be an amazing novelist, short-story writer, poet, dramatist, and biographer. Today, she is still known for her amazing work. Her childhood really helped with most of her books and novels.
Mary was born August 30, 1797 in London, England. She was the daughter of two well-known authors, Mary Wollstonecraft and William Godwin. Her father a political philosopher and her mother was an early classic feminist. They married when her mom was five months pregnant with her. Eleven days after Mary was born, her mother died from an infection from childbirth. Mary blamed herself throughout her life for her mother’s death. A few years later her dad married Mary Jane Clairmont in 1801. She gained two other siblings and she already had a sister, Fanny Imlay. Slowly her father began to neglect her for her step sisters and brothers. Her father was not affectionate of attentive to her. Mary’s childhood was not happy at all. She often got into huge arguments with her step-mother. At one point of time, her father sent her to live with family friends because of the conflicts with her step-mother.
Next, at 15-years-old, Mary met Percy Bysshe Shelley, one of her father’s writers. He was a romantic author and also well-known. Mary’s first book ever published is The Discoveries of John Bull in a Trip to Paris. Which was published in 1808 and this book was based upon her childhood. Her second book was History of a Six Weeks' Tour in 1817. That book was based upon her trip in Switzerland with Percy and her half-sister, Jane. Also the first book she ever wrote. Her most famous and well known books are Frankenstein and The Modern Prometheus in 1818. She published these in her late teens and early twenties.
A lot of Mary’s book come from her childhood. Many people told her that she could become a great author by telling stories from her childhood and how it was. That is what made her become the successful writer she is today. The Last Man is her second most well-known piece of work.

Mary Shelley was the second wife of famous English poet Percey Shelley. She had three children during her lifetime, but only one survived birth. Her most famous work was this novel, Frankenstein; it was not until long after she was dead that she received any real credit for her other novels.
Her family was very into farming and had a thirty-three acre farm where she worked in the fields, plowing, planting, and harvesting. All of the children wore pants and shirts, as to dress as men. Alvah, Mary’s father, was a carpenter as well as a farmer. He also became a self-taught country doctor in a frontier region that had few doctors. At one time his farm land was a station on the underground railroad and a supporter of education and equality for his daughters. Mary attended the elementary school that her father built and where her mother was the teacher. She also attended Falley Seminary in Fulton, New York. While she was there Mary reveiced additional help and practice in the math fields. When she graduated in 1852, Mary and her sister became a teacher in the village of Minetto, New York.

Frankenstein was written by Mary Shelley and is a gothic horror. It is an important book because it tells us about when scientists and doctors started to experiment with bringing back the dead. I will look at arguments for both sides of the question. This is an important question because there is a strong argument for both sides and in a lot of modern films about him he is portrayed as a villain who like nothing more than killing and lightening.
Therefore it’s hard to believe that Shelley, a daughter of one of the leading feminists of the day was responsible for presenting women as the submissive role to their male counterparts. How ironic it is that that she was not subservience to her male counterparts in her own life, because although of her father’s disapproval of her partner Percy Shelley, who was already married and to his pregnant wife. She fled to France with him, and disowned herself from her family.

Mary Godwin was born in London in 1797 to prominent philosopher William Godwin and well-known feminist and author Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin. Shortly after Mary's birth, her mother died of complications from childbirth, and this event set the stage for the strained relationship between Mary and her father. Godwin blamed Mary for her mother's death and put her in the care of her unqualified stepmother, who favored her own children and forced Mary to do tedious housework. Godwin felt that punishing Mary would satisfy his grief, and consequently Mary became withdrawn in her studies. Her talent for writing is believed to have saved her from premature suicide.
