A best friend’s wedding in San Diego, a close family member’s funeral in Seattle, a visit to the grandkids in New York all have one thing in common for someone who does not live in any of those areas. What is it? They are all events for which air travel may be necessary. In today’s global culture, air travel is inevitable at some point in nearly everyone’s life. For someone who has never been on an airplane before, flying can be both an exciting and nerve-wracking affair. The entire process, from buying a ticket, to surviving security, to actually boarding the plane, can be enjoyable and somewhat easy for seasoned pro who knows what he or she is doing. However, for someone new to the world of flying, it can all seem slightly overwhelming. Knowing how to go through the process with ease is essential for a smooth and relaxing journey when a situation arises in which speed and convenience of air travel is required. If you drive yourself to the airport, you will need somewhere to park your car for the duration of your trip. There are generally two options for this. The first and more expensive option is to park in an airport-owned lot close to the flight check-in area. The second, cheaper option is to use a lot owned by a third-party company a short distance from the airport itself. The downside of this is that you will be forced to take a shuttle to the check-in area for your flight (more on this in the next paragraph) instead of simply walking like you would from the airport-owned lot. Wouldn’t it be amazing to travel anywhere you wanted to go in the world without a plane to take you there? Well, we’ve all wanted the ability to fly at least once in our lifetime. We would have the luxury to travel anywhere we wanted and we wouldn’t have to worry about the constant struggle to find enough money just to get to the destination. We would learn more about the world by seeing things through a new perspective if we could fly ourselves to it in the blink of an eye. “What time should we leave? Two hours in advance? Three? Four?” Millions of people ask these questions each year before boarding a plane. Between driving, security, walking to the gate, and getting settled, boarding a plane exhausts travelers. But out of all of these different activities, one frustrates and restrains travelers the most: TSA security. People ask why they need all this security, complain about the inconvenience it causes, and ultimately annoys people to no end. As mentioned, Southwest offers low prices on their airplane tickets. Also, Southwest is renowned in the airline industry for its short turnaround time on arrivals and departures. And since people's biggest concern nowadays is money and time, having low price airline tickets to cater their traveling needs in a shorter period of time will surely satisfy them. Moreover, aside from the low prices offered, what attracts to customers is Southwest’s way in dealing with them. Private space travel should be encouraged. Private space exploration can lead to many positive benefits for our country. With the no longer continued support of public funding to NASA the threat of losing our space programs as a whole is in jeopardy. Putting an end to our space programs would destroy the continuation of space related research and all hopes of the United States reaching Mars. Privately funded companies would allow for continued research, hope of one day putting humans on Mars and most importantly explore many new things that were once never an option with government funded programs. The encouragement of private space travel is vital for our country.

The competitive environment changed dramatically over the course of the last century specifically when the industry underwent regulation and then deregulation.
