TeslaCrypt started as a ransomware Trojan. It resembles CryptoLocker in function and form but doesn 't share any code with it, which proves that TeslaCrypt is developed independently. It used to target game-play data for some computer games, but newer versions of the TeslaCrypt affect other types of files as well. At the beginning it searched for file extensions that were related to a number of games, including Call of Duty, Minecraft, World of Tanks and World of Warcraft. The targeted files by TeslaCrypt were mainly the player profiles, save data, game mods and custom maps. The problem spreads with newer versions of the virus, which started encrypting not only game files but also PDF, Word, JPG files and so on. After the encryption the victim would be prompted to pay ransom in order to get the key for decrypting all of the encrypted files.
There are more than one ways to get infected with TeslaCrypt. You can get it as an e-mail attachment or via websites that simply redirect you to the Angler Exploit Kit. Most of the TeslaCrypt samples use COM+ evasion techniques. The dropper often uses a simple detection code which verifies if the interface has been successfully installed in the specific DirectShow filter list. If this check passes, the actual dropper will be extracted and afterwards executed by making use of the ZwMap(Unmap)ViewOfSection API function in order to unmap the PE memory image and then re-map another file. The final executable locates certain Windows directories like the Application Data directory and then builds support files and files that store decryption instructions. The executable copies itself to the Application data by using a random name, after adjusting its own privileges. Execution is then transferred...

...ccess privileges for these files to read/write only. Also try to watch carefully the emails you get and refrain from opening attachments which look even the least bit suspicious. One of the most important things is to patch and keep up to date your operating system, browser, Java, anti-virus and everything else that is essentially used. If you get infected somehow, remember to always and immediately turn of your internet connection. This will help clean the threat a lot easier. Another thing that is helpful and quickly done is installing browser add-on 's that block pop-ups because they can also pose a potential threat to your computer. Using strong passwords and making sure you disable file sharing, as well as Bluetooth will also add to the safety of your files. This might seem like a lot of work, but remember that you only need to do it once and safety is comfort.

The development of literacy learning begins well before children start school as they engage in literate practices in their homes and communities, allowing them to engage in meaning-making (Arthur, 2001; Ashton, 2005)....   [tags: Annotated Bibliography]
