Drake, some people may call him the legend of rap music. Drake released his first album in 2006, and he has been dropping songs ever since. Drake released his hit “God’s Plan” earlier this year, and it blew up. What he decided to do after the release was simply amazing. Drake is an influential role model of generosity and charity through his actions of donating to schools funds, donating to Women in poverty, and funding for school programs. Drake impacted a young woman by donating to her school funds. “After his visit to the high school, Drake, whose given name is Aubrey Graham, went on to the University of Miami, where he surprised a student with a $50,000 scholarship”. Drake donated 50,000 dollars to a girl that couldn’t afford to go to college. With that 50,000 check she used it to get into the college she dreamed of getting into. His act was important because it impacted that girls whole entire life. College is very expensive now a days and that helped her to get through the funding. Also maybe that girl will give back to her community just as Drake did. This is how Drake impacted this young woman. …show more content…
“Drake unexpectedly dropped by a Miami shelter for people experiencing homelessness, armed with a $50,000 check and other gifts”. Explain meaning of quote: Drake showed up at a Woman and children homeless shelter and surprised them with 50,000, gifts, and toys for the little ones. To just show up and give money to people who actually need it is truly an amazing thing. Drake impacted many people including the woman and children staying at that shelter. 50,000 dollars is a lot of money that could be used to make the shelter a better atmosphere. Also the people working there also were impacted because it gives them a better attitude about working there. This is how Drake impacted many
She says she is concerned about the financial burden her education is placing on her family, ' In order to meet our expected family contribution, my mother had to borrow the entire amount of her share.' For her part, Michelle earned six small scholarships, two of which are renewable for next year, and took out a federal
What those student did actually changed the policy and made it easier for families to afford college without heavy loans. This showed others that activists can make a difference, something she presses on in this
Grace Vanderwaal has accomplished many things with her talents and her life as a pop star has just begun. First of all, when Grace was 12 she had tried out for America’s Got Talent! Grace’s performance blew the judges away and ended up getting the GOLDEN BUZZER that automatically moved her to the next round! Later on, she ended up winning America’s Got Talent with a million dollar prize. That's not all, after winning Grace signed a record deal with “Columbia Records” and made her first CD called “Perfectly Imperfect” with her original songs. Now, Grace is homeschooled and enrolled in online classes. In addition, she is planning to give some of her money to music charity. To sum it up, Grace Vanderwaal’s accomplishments will lead her into a
People like to read about topics that they can relate to, especially because world poverty and starvation are still issues in many impoverished countries. Both of these articles stir up a lot of controversy between people in wealthier nations such as the United States because not everyone is going to be willing to donate ten to twenty percent of their yearly income. I personally believe that it is not my moral obligation to feed the poor and hungry because I have my own life and my loved ones to worry about. I’m not saying we shouldn’t give anything to people in need of help, but there’s just so much you can do to help other people. Singer mentions that organizations like UNICEF and Oxfam America collect money to save the lives of children. Let’s say you donate $200 to one of these organizations. You might be able to help one “sickly 2-year-old transform into a healthy 6-year-old” but what happens after that? Does the 6-year-old child continue to be healthy? What can you do to make sure that your initial donation of $200 benefits the child in the long run? I’m sure you don’t just want to temporarily help a child in need (Singer
There were many people in history that were very influential. These people impacted the world in a positive manner because of their legacy, accomplishments, and their admirability. An individual person is Sir Francis Drake. Sir Francis Drake is influential because he was the first to sail on the Pacific Ocean, he has multiple places named after him because of his admirability , and he was awarded knighthood by Queen Elizabeth the first.
The music of rapper Aubrey Drake Graham, better known as Drake or Drizzy, has helped him to transcend the impoverished circumstances of his childhood life while giving him the opportunity to express his emotions, feelings, and impact of those circumstances on him.
How much does the world really know about Tupac Shakur? Tupac Shakur was a renowned hip hop artist whose rap music brought up many controversial topics. Tupac’s lifestyle played a large role in his contribution to music. Without his continual perseverance through his struggles in his early life, he wouldn’t have accomplished what he has done so later on in his career. His impact on the music industry has also greatly influenced the way society depicts the African American community. Shakur’s music has given white, middle-class Americans an insight on what it’s like to live in an inner city. (Josh Nisker). Tupac’s short life was a stem in the way rap is portrayed and interpreted in modern day hip hop.
Singer makes you reflect on the decisions you've made and the decisions you were going to make for the future. To help push more money to kids overseas, he provides a phone number, urging the readers to pick up the phone and donate some sort of amount of money. Another scenario is a nice dinner night. Once you've made yourself feel good about donating some money overseas, you want to go out and celebrate with your spouse, but another red flag pops up. Instead of having a nice expensive dinner for one night, try skipping it for that month and instead donate even more money to
Rap artist tell their life story through rap. Not only do they tell their story, but they also have a moral to their story. Tupac was one of the greatest rappers of all time. He was murdered at the age of 25. He is still, even in death, one of the most influential artists in the lives of urban people. Tupac told his life, from the beginning to the end, in his music. He was in a gang, he did drugs, and he was also known as a “thug.” If peop...
Adriana sent an application to the LeTrende Education Fund for Homeless Children, a scholarship program administered by the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth, explaining her story in hopes they would be able to help her. Adriana was eventually awarded a grant from LeTrende to help her out financially with school. Jenn Hecker, the organizing director of the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness says, “Each year at our national conference, homeless students come forward to share their stories” (Bader pg.694) in hopes they will be given money to cover the costs of housing and food. Hecker “blames rising housing costs to be the reason so many students are becoming homeless” (Bader pg.694). Supporters for the homeless have seen many college students sleeping in their cars and sneaking into the school’s gym to take a shower and change their clothes. One college that is helping out students is San Diego City College. Rosa LaMuraglia, dean of the San Diego City College of Business, Information Technology, and Cosmetology, said, “the campus has taken several steps to help needy and homeless students, including running a pantry for free food and opening the thrift store Fantastique last January.” (The San Diego Union-Tribune, Warth)
Kanye Omari West, an icon of hip-hop, pop culture, fashion and music in general. Kanye Omari West, a person belittled against and a person subjected to a life of racism and hate. Born on June 8th, 1977, Donda West, West’s mother, always knew he was destined for greatness, but did she know her son would turn out to be the Kanye West, a man lacking the respect he deserves for transforming a big part of the music we listen to on this very day? West came onto the scene in the late nineties but didn’t release The College Dropout until 2004, an album that took everybody by surprise. Kanye West changed the gangster filled rap genre by releasing his positive, soulful debut album, changing the way rappers dress, and paving the way for a whole new style of introspective lyrics and soul-inspired rap production in the mainstream.
Hip-Hop/Rap in the 20th century has blown up in the last 20 years of the 20th century, the 80’s and 90’s. Hip-Hop/Rap music has changed the African American culture by the music the rappers published, the music these rappers wrote had an impact on the Rap community with the type of lyrics they wrote and then recorded.
Rap music has given me personally something to look up to. Not a role model but hope of continuing my dreams because rappers successfully made it. “For what’s money without happiness, or hard times without the people you love” is from a song called “Love Yourz” by J. Cole. He clearly understands how there is “beauty in the struggle and ugliness in the success” because he’s lived that life. Other songs such as “2Face” or “The Autograph” were instantly relatable to me because he has been through several struggles from the beginning of his childhood. Cole’s father left when he was six leaving his mother and younger brother alone. Cole became “the man of the house” but becoming a rapper is not as easy as it seems. Cole’s messages in these two songs are relative because I too, have had several issues with my mother and father creating a sense of lonesome. Hearing music like Coles helped me overcome my
Throughout Drake’s musical career, the theme he raps about the most is the male/female relationship. As I referenced it before the relationship between men and women is one of the pillars of rap. His most commercially successful and loved songs are about the relationships he’s had with a woman. Instead of talking about selling drugs or violent lyrics, Drake raps about his love of women and the relationships he has with him. He talks about the mistakes he’s made in the relationship one song in particular “Sooner than Later” he talks about how he has this girl he loves but let’s her get away from him and doesn’t realize it until she’s gone when he raps, “I forgot to call on your birthday/ You swear you’re the last thing on my mind, yeah/ There
Few people yield the influence and inspiration to be able to make an impact on their industry and have it be consumed by the masses. In the music industry, it seems as though most artists consider themselves with authority when they release a chart-topping project. Kanye West, winner of 21 Grammys and top artist collaborator, doesn’t stop at platinum records and record-breaking sales. With an overbearing confidence and constant media coverage, he is relentless in pushing the boundaries and makes himself known for something far beyond the title of “Rapper.” While constantly regarded as an egotistical tyrant, Kanye is conscious of the self-destructive ideologies that many consume; as expressed thoughtfully in his music.
