Youth and Society in the Red Bandit

The Red Bandit is a story for young children about a boy and the evolution of his relationship with his grandmother. Willy, a young boy is left at home for a week with his grandmother. His parents are gone on a trip and he is not excited to have his grandmother as a babysitter. He feels she treats him like a little baby and does not understand his need for adventure. While he is up in his room, he encounters a mysterious note from the Red Bandit, inviting him to go on an adventure. Unbeknownst to Willy, his grandmother is the Red Bandit. He is lead along by a trail of clues leading him to his final destination of a fabulous treehouse. It is not till he discovers the treehouse that he finds out who the Red Bandit truly is. In the end he comes to realize that maybe his grandmother isn’t so bad after all. In writing this story, my goal was to illustrate the value of elderly people, especially in relation to the youth of society.
