Until the 1910’s America had its fair share of problems, but they had always been problems that were taken care of inside of its own borders. The first time America got involved in an international affair it would only make sense that it would lead to the First World War. This also brought on another problem inside of America because women had been put into the workforce and they didn’t want to give that up causing them to make the final push for women rights. America had made a name for itself by the end of this era. It had shaken the world in the First World War and had finally over, the course of many years, recognized the rights of all women in the United States. World war one started across the globe from the United States and didn’t directly involve us at all. Serbia and Austria-Hungary were having problems in government and then on June 28, 1914 a Serbian nationalist assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to Austria-Hungary's throne, and his wife, Sophie. The Serbian nationalists name was Gavrilo Princip; you could say this man is responsible for the next five years and all the death that followed. This one man’s act of hatred towards another country had begun a war that will always be known as the Great War. The very same day after the assassinations Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. These two countries were relatively small and the war that would go on between the two would hardly be called a world war, but Serbia having Russia as its ally and Austria-Hungary having Germany as its ally turned what could hardly be called a battle into a full-fledged war when Germany had declared war on Russia at the beginning of august the very same year. It is then sent to the states for ratification and was ratified a year later giving women the right to vote and marked the beginning to women’s rights. In the 1910’s the United states had proven its self against the world by dominating in the war showing how aggressive it can be and then showing a caring side by recognizing women’s right to vote. The war had initially be great for America boosting its economy making it a better place to live , but we got carless and got drug into the war causing some panic. The panic however was a good test of our strength as a country and also helped realize the equality of women and their ability to vote for themselves changing America for the better. America was established not to create wealth but to realize a vision, to realize an ideal - to discover and maintain liberty among men – Woodrow Wilson.
suffrage movement was the struggle for the right of women to vote and run for office. It was the the idea that there can be an equalization in what it means to be "American" between men and women. Women wanted to and began to see themselves as equal to men. They demanded "equal pay for equal work" not only in the workforce, but equality in general. Women began to see that they could possess more in terms of opportunities than societies standards conformed them to. The road to success for women became
Prior to the 1920’s, American women faced many decades of unfairness and inequality. They were not given most of the privileges and opportunities that men were. They had little to no authority and were treated disrespectfully by men. Women, their children, and their belongings were considered the property of their husbands and they had nearly complete power over them. However, between the mid 1910’s to the early 1920’s, things started to turn more towards women’s favor. Many women fought tirelessly
WOMEN’S SUFFRAGE MOVEMENT During the 19th century women around America began to fight for their right to vote which became the Suffrage Movement. The 19th amendment which is the bill that legally gave women in America the right to vote, was first introduced to American congress in 1878. On August 18th 1920 the amendment was implemented and ratified. However, between 1878 and 1912, nine western American states granted full voting rights to females. On may 21st 1919 the house of representatives passed

A new style of music was invented mainly in the African American community, creating the Harlem Renaissance; which was an evolution of music and entertainment in Harlem, New York City. The women of America began to evolve in the 1920s, adding new styles to our fashion

The ABC book that I created is covered culture from 1945 to 2000. After World War 2 ended in 1945, America had changed completely. World War 2 had revitalized our economy and made Americans very optimistic. It also ended the policy of isolationism and made U.S. a superpower. We had the world in the palm of our hands, controlling half of the world’s manufacturing capacity and almost doubled our economy. The 1950’s we started to see early sitcoms where the setting was urban, families were ethnic and

In Article IX of the Treaty, it states that the Mexicans "shall be maintained and protected in the free enjoyment of their liberty and property, and secured in the free exercise of their religion without restriction"(Vargas 139). And as Rachel Rivera points out Article VII promised the Mexicans the right to keep their
From the 1950’s through the 1990’s, social and cultural issues impacted American history in a major way. America’s history was influenced by several events that happened over this time period. It also will explain why I believe some of the events from the 1950s to the 1990s played a big part in US
