Dogs are very common in the world we know today. Many households have one or more. Dogs are trained to be pets. Not only trained to be pets, dogs are also trained for work. Dogs are getting used more and more in our work environment. House dogs can also be considered a working dog depending on why the dog is there. There are many jobs for dogs. Dogs make a big impact on our working and social lives.
There are many different types of work dogs. Some types of work dogs also have different jobs for which they are trained for. Law enforcement dogs, for instance, are normally detector dogs. Detector dogs have a large interest in fetching and retrieving. There are two major types of detector dogs. These types are narcotic detectors and explosive detectors. Narcotic detectors are used to search for drugs and narcotics. Explosive detector dogs are used to detect TNT and other like explosives. There are three main dog breeds used as law enforcement dogs. The German shepherd is the best breed for law enforcement. They are easily taught to attack with full control and know how to restrain someone without hurting them. They are very agile and strong. They have heart and are very brave dogs. Another breed used is the Labrador retriever. They are used as detector dogs, both narcotic and explosive. They naturally have the urge to retrieve things. Golden Retrievers are also great dogs for detecting, again, both narcotics and explosives.
There are certain requirements to become a law enforcement dog. They are normally males that are one or two years old. Males are used more because they are stronger and larger. Almost every state and there cities have a K-9 unit. But if you're like me, your not to sure what they exactly are and how they work. Well there are many different kinds of K9 units, like patrol dogs, narcotic dogs, arson detection dogs, and explosive detection dogs. Plus K-9 units have two helpful new technology pieces to help then protect there canine partners.

The first of this category would be the aggressive dog. This dog is the one that tends to be forceful and damaging. The aggressive dog will tear things apart when searching for drugs. This dog takes his or her job serious. You can compare these animals to human beings when it comes to work. Some human beings take their work serious as well. Most of the time an aggressive dog will make your job harder. You may have to do more to clean up an area after your search, because of the damage to the area. Aggressive drug dogs are not all the same. Their personalities come into play as well. I’ve been around these types of dogs when they have ripped a kitchen cabinet apart to get the drug they are looking for. A good example of an aggressive dog would be one that runs to fetch a thrown ball, and after retrieving the ball, begins to tear it to pieces. These types of dogs are known for performing their job the best.

Having a dog can be a great experience for people who enjoy their company. These animals are usually friendly and active; they are intelligent and can develop a strong relationship with their owners based on love and care. However, having dogs is a big responsibility for the person who owns them, because they are animals, so they cannot support themselves. Dogs need someone who can feed them, give them love, and someone who can help them exercise. Moreover, these animals need big spaces in order to run and develop their muscles, so the owner has to know that he needs to take a walk with the dog several times a day.

I am in complete support of bringing your dog to work, for the following reasons. Having your dog at work helps to reduce stress, make the workplace more pleasant as well as wanting to spend more time at work.
Responsibilities for dogs come in all different forms, but these are just a couple of ways that I have to specifically take care of my dog. Dogs make great companions, can be assistance dogs and help people with disabilities, and even protect a household. Hearing dogs can be the ears for a person that is hard of hearing, seeing dogs can be the eyes for someone who is legally blind, and service dogs can be an alert system for someone with epilepsy. Although, these dogs are put through a lot of special training for a specific need. More often than not, an assistance dog is adopted but also donated to someone who is handicapped.
