Susanna was born seven months after their wedding. In 1585, Shakespeare and Anne had twins named Judith and Hamnet. However, his only son, Hamnet, died at the age of eleven years old. Judith passed away at age 77. Susanna died at age 66. William Shakespeare began to write his first of 154 sonnets. There was general financial need in Stratford-upon-Avon at that time, which negatively affected the business of Shakespeare's father and the Shakespeare family.
