William Shakespeare was born in the year 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, which is in the United Kingdom. William was the third born child in the Shakespeare family, son to John Shakespeare and Mary Arden, and brother to Gilbert, Richard, Edmund, Joan and Judith. William’s father, John, was a successful merchant, however WIlliam’s birth seemed to impoverish the family, with John’s wealth decreased by a substantial amount. William attended a school for the underprivileged and received a basic education. By 1592, William had begun his career as actor and playwright and had his first few performances published. By 1597, he had 17 more of his plays published as public performances. By this time, Shakespeare was known as one of the richest people in England, as he bought the second largest house in Stratford-upon-Avon. In 1599, Shakespeare and his group built their own theatre near the Thames river. They decided to call the theatre The ‘Globe’. Shakespeare’s first plays performed at ‘The Globe’ were Richard II,Henry VI parts 1,2 and 3. These plays were all Histories and comedies and he did not begin to make tragedies until 1600. Shakespeare’s later plays, before his death were called tragicomedies. These, as from the title, were tragedies involved with some humour.
Shakespeare passed away on April 23rd, 1616, on his birthday. His death place is not known however, but he was buried at Trinity church. He was only 52 at the time. Doctors in the era wore heavy clothing and masks so as to not get the disease and to protect themselves from passing it on. Medicine was basic and doctors did not know how to treat illness and often could not save their patients as they can today.
The Elizabethan era was a time during Queen Elizabeth’s reign and is known to be an important part of the world’s history.

The Elizabethan Era was a time marked in English history by the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Historians often refer to it as the golden age in English history. During the Elizabethan era there were many different sports that were played and watched and they formed much of Elizabethan entertainment, especially for the nobility. A few sports that were played were football, wrestling, and bear and bull baiting. Football, wrestling, and bear and bull baiting were all immensely popular sports during the Elizabethan times.
William Shakespeare was born on 26 April 1564 (died on 23 April 1616), in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire. Shakespeare was a poet, playwright and actor and has written about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, and two long narrative poems. Shakespeare wrote many successful plays such as, Julius Caesar, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet was written in the mid-1590s in London and even today it is considered to be one of the greatest plays ever written. It is a play based on a long dispute between two families, the Montague’s and the Capulet’s, and takes place in the cities of Verona and Mantua, Italy, over the course of four short days.
The Elizabethan era was an era of art above all else. Elegance reflected in all areas of the peoples’ lives. From the entertainment and language to the churches and castles, beauty shone bright. There were many vents for artistic creativity during the Elizabethan era; countless instruments, painting, books, playwright, and last but not by any stretch the least, architecture. Elizabethan architecture has a vast amount of variety and personality, the buildings reflected the pride of both the inhabitants and the builders.

This time period is referred to as the English Renaissance because new ideas were introduced to Elizabethan daily life. People enjoyed learning; they enjoyed art, culture, music, and food. The people also enjoyed celebrating many customs and festivals. These celebrations became a major part of daily life, and there were many customs to celebrate.

By the age of eight he was enrolled at the Stratford's Grammar School where he was taught by well paid Oxford men. The Elizabethan Era is the period of time over which Queen Elizabeth I reigned over England and Ireland. The crime and punishment techniques that were once considered normal and necessary are now considered violent and cruel. Crimes were met with punishments and executions witnessed by many people. The lower class and upper class had separate crimes and punishments with levels of extremity.

Most people may not realize all the hard work he went through, to become so renowned and still be remembered today after hundreds of years. Although some of the happenings in his life are unknown or lost, there are portions that scholars been able to piece together. First, his birth and family are important, as well as his schooling and childhood, and finally his married life.
