Recommended: Should animals be in captivity

Animals call Earth home, just like we do, but there are so many creatures that die because of us. When we take these animals from their homes we need to give them a good place to live at. Many of the animals we capture, are put into zoos. I know that zoos many be fun and exciting but we need to look closer as to how the animals are being treated. Today, many creatures living in zoos are not getting the things they need to live well. Many starve or do not have enough space for them to move in their cages. There is a solution that I want to tell you about. That solution is wildlife park reserves. These places are where animals can live freely in a closed space, but this closed space is many acres wide. They can run as much as they would like, just as if they were back in the wild. You could also visit these reserves to see the animals in person. The thing that is way more awesome about wildlife reserves than zoos, is that you could pet the animals! You could come with your parents and drive through all the land and when the animals come up to you, you could pet and feed them. Sometimes they even stick their heads into your window! The really neat thing about this is that, sometimes the reserves have endangered species on the land, so you could have a one in a lifetime chance to pet an endangered species! Wildlife parks are really good places to raise endangered species, because they are protected and are given good conditions to live in. So, wouldn’t it be a great solution to keep then in wildlife reserves instead of zoos, this would be better for them and it would give us a chance to interact with them.

Another example of how a wildlife park was successful was in an article "Shark numbers increasing in protected Fiji reserve, scientists say.” Celeb McClennen, director of the WCS Marine Program said, "The news from Fiji gives us solid proof that marine reserves can have positive effects on reef shark populations." She was speaking about a marine wildlife reserve in Fiji where there were more sharks than where fishing is allowed. Sharks are being killed really fast and it is good that we have a place to keep them safe.
The amount of Wildlife reserves is growing, but it would be greater if we could all lend a helping hand. In one instance, a research team of the Sciences Education Institute found a wildlife park in the southern Huila province
