The two factors that deserve more attention than the application provides are my background and vivid aspirations for the future. The documented success outlined in my resume, transcripts, and awards is merely the product of my background. My desire to attend HBS is the explicit strategic plan of accomplishing my goals. While the elements of my application define my ability to succeed at HBS, my background paints the picture of the ambition, leadership, and skills that got me where I am.
After 17 years of being reared nearly homeless by a single mother of three, I became the sole caregiver for a beautiful, intelligent, and talented little girl. My senior year of high school consisted primarily of independently raising a child. Though times were certainly tough, I found the true meaning of leadership. I was infused with a level of ambition that surpassed anything I had ever experienced. College was never mentioned in my household, let alone encouraged so I cultivated a skilled trade instead. I secured my first job as a certified welding in 2003. Determined to break the cycle of economic depressed social class, I worked hard, stayed late, and learned through collaborating with the seasoned craftsmen. A year after being promoted to supervisor for the organization I started my career at I was recruited as Detail Foreman for a start-up manufacturing company.
At commencement of the new position there were two employees, me and the general manager. I was assigned the lead role on production while the general manager overseen sales and marketing. Being young and relatively new to manufacturing, I started thinking outside the box. We needed a production strategy to develop a sustainable competitive advantage. I streamlined pro...

...bring my goals to actualization I need a top tier business school experience that provides the best corporate level business knowledge and experience. The strategy setting abilities enthralled by Harvard combined with the vast knowledge and innovation birthed through its extensive collaboration creates the ability to produce the entity I aim to construct. My diverse background allows me to contribute in a unique and meaningful way to the Class of 2016. My specific post-MBA goals illustrate the transformational value derived from a Harvard MBA. Combining these two attributes creates the true value proposition of my admission in which both Harvard and I are significantly better off.
While other children watched their favorite cartoon or played their favorite video game, reading business articles and watching the fluctuations seen in the stock market enthralled me. Renowned leaders in the business world have always been of interest to me, specifically Warren Buffet. My favorite quote by Buffet is “It’s better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than you and you’ll drift in that direction.” By attending CMU, I would personify this quote. Growing up, my parents have instilled into me, many essential values, such as working hard and “being the best me I could be.” I have always expected a lot from myself, but high expectations from my parents and close friends, have increased my work ethic and lifted my goals and aspirations even higher. For that reason, I hope to challenge myself through the prestigious Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Science’s economics curriculum. The undergraduate economics program would prepare me for a vast array of careers. Jobs in policy, law, and business are all possible, or if one desires to go to some sort of post graduate school, that is also possible. By having such a top-notch education, I would surely be closer to achieving my goal of receiving my MBA from Tepper. In making all this possible, a wide range of classes must be made available. Classes that are available in just about any economics curriculum, like Intermediate Economics, are also available here, but classes like Behavioral Economics and Global Electronic Markets are what makes CMU unique. Another attractive aspect of CMU is the jointly administered economics degree by Dietrich and Tepper. I feel this will make for a solid foundation in the field of econo...
Mario Andretti once said, “Desire is the key to motivation, but it's determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal - a commitment to excellence - that will enable you to attain the success you seek.” Andretti’s words are as true today as when he spoke them. Everyday should be a continuous journey to get to your goal. Starting off with the right step is a major component. Therefore, I chose to apply to Stanly Early College High. I believe that I have the ability to work up to Stanly Early College standards. Determination, dedication, and desire are all qualities that I have.

I knew at an early age I wanted to be my own boss and help people better themselves. My mother, a social worker, and father, owner of a restaurant, I had exposure to the most creative and altruistic of individuals. Some would agree I was destined to become a psychologist or business woman. My father taught me the qualities required to run a successful business. His mantra was, “When we are happy, the customer is happy.” That mantra proved to be true year after year, making my father’s restaurant one of Chicago’s most successful. My mother dedicated the greater part of her life to mothering hers and other children. My mother worked for several government agencies focused on bettering the lives of individuals in impoverished communities. It was amazing to witness her building trust and confidence with each client. She had the most endearing, nurturing, and compassionate demeanor
I have accomplished a lot in a short period; however, my journey is not complete until I continue my education. Essentially, this degree will help foster my growth and career success. My passion and dedication will speak for itself. My hard work and determination will prevail and I am a fit more than the next applicant because I have the passion, experience, critical thinking and analytical skills needed to complete this program through successfully arguing my capstone in front of a board or committee. My goals are definitely aligned with this program and I hope my next read is an acceptance letter from the admissions council.

While studying at the University of Washington, Smith decided to take time off to work as an engineer for Boeing Enterprises. During his tenure, he recalls rows and rows of engineers sitting at their desks, reminding him of the assembly line. Seeing this unattractive future, he decided to switch to a Business orientation and eventually enrolled into Harvard Business School in pursuant of an M.B.A. (Smith).
My interest in the University of Tulsa is strengthened by the required practicum and field experience, as well as, excellent faculty and facilities. I intend to pursue a career in applied research and organizational consulting, therefore, these qualities are imperative to myself and my career.
I like options, I like security, and I like power. With these wants, I knew at a very early age that I would enter business and thus I attended a college that specializes in the subject. In my first position out of school, I was hired by Dunhill Equities as a cold-caller. After several weeks of being hung up on by angry prospects, I decided that this career path would not lead me to success. I then moved within the firm to a position as sales assistant. While this was by no means my dream job, I learned a tremendous amount about business, and I gained useful exposure to the world of finance. Unfortunately, the company hit a period of instability, and after ten months I transferred with my boss to Coleman & Company. Thirteen months later, that company also began to fail, and I began to search for another path to advancement. With two strikes against me, I hit a home run and was hired by Sanford Bernstein into a challenging job with limitless opportunity for growth.
By attending New York University, since it has one of the finest business programs, I believe I will become even more successful, both academically and socially. I have enthusiasm and ambition, plus having good leadership skills, being a hard worker, and having great social networking skills. After going through a childhood with a rheumatoid arthritis father, and coming to a foreign country where I had knew very little of its language, I would and strive for and participate in any learning opportunities. I know that I am ready for the upcoming challenges and tasks. I strongly believe that no matter what kind of ordeals people will face, as long as they have the heart and will to do it right, they will succeed.
I am excited about continuing my academic career at Baruch. But, I am especially excited about working with educators like Peter Hall, Stan Altman, James Krauskopt, and Michael Seltzer. Their knowledge and experience in non-profit will prepare me for furthering my career. In addition, I am truly inspired by the mission statement of Baruch College. There is a sentence that reads, “The College’s graduate programs focus on professional preparation that enables students to become leaders and innovators in their fields.” This sentence defines the reason for the pursuit of my MPA and my career goal in the non-profit sector. For that reason, I know that Baruch College is where I will be able accomplish this goal.
