Superheroes have always been very popular since they first originated. They use their superpower or super-gadgets to serve a purpose. Superheroes protect innocent people and help fight crime, which is why they tend to live a complete meaningful life. They also use their strengths as confidence booster to keep on saving lives and defeating villains. To be a superhero there are some element s someone need to have to call himself a superhero. Most of the superheroes have the characteristics of courage, morality, resilience, and the most important superpowers or super-gadgets.
One characteristic that all superheroes have is courage. Courage is a highly praised quality that many people admire. Every Superhero have something that have encourage them to do what they are now. One great example of this is Batman. In the book Psychology of Superheroes the author states, “After the death of his parents, Bruce traveled the world, learning escape-arts, illusions, and martial arts...”(Robin S. Rosenberg & Jennifer Canzoneri. iBooks. pg 284). After the death of his parents, Batman had to make the tough decision of becoming a hero or becoming the villain. He decided to rise above the hate and anger. He would make sure that this kind of thing would never happen again to anyone else. Through sheer courage and determination, he was able to conquer many of his fears and then go on to fight against them. Another example of courage is the Justice League of America, “Such a dangerous and frightening experience leads the heroes to affiliate with each other and appreciate each other, and to acknowledge the fact that it is the combination of group effort and individual powers that would make them unbeatable if they were to make the group official.” (Robin...

Why is it that in most superhero movies the good guys win? Because good always outshines evil. Characteristics, feelings, and actions which are commonly shared by most people is called human nature. One can easily make a statement about human nature by reading Lord of the Flies by: William Golding and Night by: Elie Wiesel. Lord of the Flies is about a group of well rounded group of British boys who survive a plane crash and find themselves the sole inhabitants of an island. Night is an honest, firsthand account about Elie Wiesel’s life in concentration camps during the Holocaust. Through these books, one can simply say humans are essentially good, even throughout the circumstances they face.
Not all superheroes wear capes. As an example, in the novel, ‘The Hobbit’, Bilbo Baggins goes from Hobbit to Hero as the book progresses. Throughout the novel, Bilbo fends off a variety of monsters, from goblins to a killer dragon! At first, he wouldn’t even leave his little hobbit hole, but he seeked out a mass murderer’s weak point! That is amazing! How did he manage to do that? Well, he developed the characteristics of a good ol’ hero along the way, those being strong and brave, clever and intelligent, and the ability to be selfless in all of the right situations.
Today, many children would consider Superman, Spiderman, Batman & Robin, and even possibly Arnold Schwarzenegger in his old film The Terminator as great superheroes. These comic strip heroes even impress adults as courageous men because we cannot get over their legendary and their supernatural skills. For example, Spiderman is well known for the spider webs that emerge from his manly wrist. On the other hand, heroes are not just defined by comic strips or cartoons. Firefighters, police officers and even our fathers or mothers are heroes in many of our lives. The characteristics that we describe our heroes as having today are quite similar to those of heroes in Anglo-Saxon culture.
The difference between a superhero, as we know from movies and comics, and a traditional hero is rather unclear for many people.. In modern times, a superhero is often a being with supernatural abilities. For example, the movies depict them as individuals with super strength, night vision, the ability to climb walls, and so on. The majority of audiences have been spoiled with these unrealistic depictions and are unable to recall the real or “traditional” hero. In the texts, The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Book of Job, and Bhagavad Gita, heroes are not “as seen on television”, but something more. The heroes in these stories carry great strengths such as wisdom, patience, and pride. To illustrate these characteristics, the protagonists themselves
Alan Moore successfully breaks down the effectiveness of superheroes portrayed in your average comic book with his use of Dr.Manhattan:Super-powers and the superpowers inside his graphic novel Watchmen. Dr.Manhattan is made out to be less than divine. The American’s “placing our superhuman benefactor in the position of a walking nuclear deterrent”(Dr.Manhattan:Super-powers and the superpowers.II), depicting him as the Vitruvian Man and having a God present among mere mortals all lead to Moore being able to break down the common conceptions about superheroes.
Superman, a fan favorite super hero, has many other qualities that make him a super hero
In the Bryan Dik’s persuasive essay Career Choice: Easy for Superheroes, Hard for Us: Spider-Man and the Power of Person-Environment Fit, he attempts to make the claim that superheroes have an easier time falling into an occupation that fits their unique characteristics and specific superpowers. In addition, it may be more difficult for those of us who do not have superpowers to find a rewarding career that both compliments and fits our values, and the strengths of our personality. A person may spend years in a career that does not line up with who they are; being that their personality is contradictory to the interests and values of the company or corporation. Although they may have some relative success, it may lead a person to develop a feeling of dissatisfaction, or even a moral opposition to the goals that their employer are trying to achieve.
Many people think that a hero is a person who monitors the skies defeating all unwanted agitators that cross the threshold of our near perfect society. Many people think a hero needs to have superpowers, like incredible strength, supervision, or super speed, but on the contrary, a true hero is what we see in the readings, “Oh Captain! My Captain, Fredrick Douglas by Robert Hayden, and Love Triumphs”.
“But the life of a superhero is fraught with stress: Saving the city (or planet) from nefarious plots of evil-do-ers; and the hassles of daily life…” (deLusé 187). Superheroes are known to save mankind and defend the Earth, but what most people do not consider is the amount of stress these heroes deal with on a daily basis. The obstacles they must overcome include coping with their alter ego and superhero stress, keeping a secret identity and surpassing the expectations set for them.
Heroes do not need to have the ability to fly or have laser eyes in order to save lives. Heroes do not need super strength or super speed, and they do not need masks or villains to save people. Since the beginning of childhood, many people associate heroes by their superpowers and their iconic symbols. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, but not all of them have flowing capes and tight spandex pants. People tend to forget that average individuals have the capabilities to become heroes too. In order for these individuals to be considered heroes, they must have characteristics such as being altruistic, courageous, and righteous; only these people are the true superheroes.
In Superman on the Couch by Danny Fingeroth, he writes that: “...Someone ... must always intervene in the domestic and global squabbles that comprise human existence. We can't do it on our own.” That is where our heroes come into place, fighting the fights that others lack the ability or the courage to fight. This kind of heroism can be found anywhere, even in ordinary people such as ourselves. People who become heroes in our eyes possess certain traits that allow them to point us in the right direction. One such characteristic is taking steps toward being the change that one wishes to see in the world. In order to do this, a person must possess traits that our society admires: traits like selflessness, kindness, generosity and forgiveness.
There are many types of heroes (such as the ones in comic books, myths, movies, or even just everyday life heroes) but all of them have perseverance when they’re going through a conflict. Heroes are role models and they’re people that we look up too. They all have unique and special qualities that make one another different from each other. For example policemen battle crime everyday and when they’re overcoming a conflict they have determination, courage and other traits that people admire them for and that make them as a hero. Typically a hero is admired for their achievement/actions and qualities.
When you think of a superhero one normally thinks of Spiderman, Batman, or Superman, but there were superheroes long before these characters were created. First one must understand that the basis of this name is hero. What is a hero? A hero is a person who does something special or out of the ordinary in order to help others. It could also be someone who is admired for a characteristic about them, be it physical or mental. They are individuals that normal everyday people can look up to. This being the case, a superhero is nothing more then someone who is a hero, but not just that once and for that one person, but someone who helps many people, or leads them. As time went by the number of people who were true heroes diminished and just doing something for someone was no longer big news. There had to be something more to make them stand out. The American culture needed someone or something to admire and that is where our common day superheroes come into play. It gave them a goal which could never be reached in hopes that people would never stop trying.
In our society, certain ideals are held in high regard. Individuals relentlessly pursue these ideals to achieve a perceived perfection. These principles are often depicted in media that further glorifies and establishes a desire to pursue these paragons. In a medium such as comic books, however, these standards and perceptions are heavily distorted by the characterizations and settings. Particularly, the superhero genre absorbs the ideals we strive towards and regurgitates them in an extreme and unrealistic manner. The superhero genre is often reflective of societal changes in ideas and morals. These ideals are then molded into misleading representations that influence the behaviors of viewers. Comic books absorb elements of our society and transform them. For example, as the enemies of America change, so do the enemies of our superheroes. However, the enemies are transformed into supervillains that are extremely dark and villainous. Such characterizations cloud people’s understanding of real threats and enemies affecting our society. Also, to cater to the value that American society places on intelligence, attractiveness, and physical strength, comic books create characters that epitomize these characteristics. Though the represent society’s ideals, these characters manipulate the ideas and convey them back to the audience in an unrecognizable manner. In developing such distorted representations, the superhero genre affects human behavior and perceptions of these ideals.
Being a hero means that one can show courage when it comes to facing a problem. It is a person who helps others in many ways, such as a person in danger. In the modern era, the creation of superheroes have become popular when it comes to producing films. Viewers can choose their favorite heroes due to the idea that there a many of them. However, most fans argue which superheroes are better. Two of the most popular superheroes are DC’s Batman and Marvel’s Iron Man. Although Batman and Iron Man are loved by many viewers because of how they help people in danger, they still demonstrate imperfections which can cause viewers to dislike them. However, both superheroes share similarities and differences between themselves. Batman and Iron Man have
