What is Critical Thinking? Is the process of conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and /or evaluating information gathered by observation, experience, reflection, reasoning or communication, as a guide to belief and action (Scriven & Paul, n.d.). When one applies critical thinking more ideas are develop, fewer mistakes are made and better decisions are reached. When people instead of using critical thinking act on beliefs or without giving it a second thought, the end results are poor decisions and as a result have a disaster at hand. People don’t always use critical thinking, it is not uncommon to hear someone say such remarks after making the wrong decisions; “I just was not thinking”, “I did not think it was a big deal”, “how was I supposes to know”, “can’t think of everything by myself”, and the most humorous one “my bad” . Poor decision makers tend to lack reasoning skills. However critical thinking skills are an essential skill in today’s working world to be able to be successful in your professional life.
Working with special education kids that not only have a learning disability but also have many behavior problems is essential to have critical thinking skills as it is an essential part of my job. My current job duties include; assist teacher during classroom activities, supervise students while working in the community and assist in implementing behavior support plans for the students. I work in an environment that sudden issues arise that could have a detrimental result if proper decisions are not made. Options must be weighted of how to best proceed based on the situation.

Every student is different what may work for one student may not work for another.
Many anticipated challenges are faced at work; while one cannot prepare for every situation one can prepare itself to handle the unexpected, by learning to how think critically. By thinking critically one can work through a serious of questions and come up with the possible solutions that will help determine the best possible way that would solve the problem. Critical thinking skills allow us to think for ourselves and not allow us to be deceived into certain beliefs or opinions.
