Throughout this semester I have learned so much about myself in many different aspects. I learned that I am the direction south and the color blue. For one thing I know that I want to hear what everybody’s opinion before make a decision. I have learned things about my personality that are will be benefit and things that are not a great when working in groups. For example I am a very cooperative person but I am also very dependent on others for ideas. I also learned that I am a collaborator when it comes to being a team player. I try to keep the group focused on the goals and purpose of the activity. I am also the team player that will do whatever it takes to get the team to reach the final goal. Throughout the semester I have improved my skills and realize what areas I need to improve in communication, working in groups, and organization.
Throughout the semester I became a more confident public speaker. The first assignment that we had to do for our education class was to introduce our self. I practiced what I was going to say and how I was going to say it that weekend. However, when I got up to present my mind went completely blank. Throughout the course of the semester I learned what I need to have up with me when I present do that I do not blank on what I wanted to say. In the beginning when I got up to present my heart was racing and my hands were shaking. Now I make sure I breathe and tell myself that I know what I am going to talk about. So I still don’t talking in public but I feel more comfortable doing it. I need to work on being more confident when I have to present a topic. Talking to Mrs. Nealy after my mini lesson I have more confidence when I am talking about a math concept than any other topic. Throughout the semester my writing skills have greatly improved. The thing I need to work on is managing my time better so that I have more time to edit my papers.
My team player style is collaborator, which I saw come out of me when we worked in groups. This semester I had great group work experiences and some that were not as great.
In addition to this, I feel that my Team building class gave me good insight into the inner workings and mechanics of how teams work. More work.
I am a hardworking and dedicated individual that will persevere to accomplish any task. I am a creative thinker that is quick on her feet, which I think will help if any plans we create happen to run into a pitfall. In addition, by being a member of Junior Class Cabinet this year, I have learned the expectations and freedoms that are placed on cabinet members, as well as an understanding of what meetings may consist of. In addition, I learned the process of collectively working together in a group to come to decisions and how different people bring different points of view on an issue, which collectively plays a role in the team. The diversity in ideas and thoughts of a team is what strengthens it, and I believe my perspective and thoughts are unique to what I bring to Senior Class
Initially, teamwork shows exemplary character and that you can share the "spotlight" with others. It is very important for your peers to know that you aren't an egomaniac, and they need to know that there is an intelligent, caring, and understanding person inside of you. Humans need to see that you can share the limelight and that it is not all about you. For instance, on a basketball team, one person cannot play every position. That's why they say this meaningful quote, “There is no “I” in team.” I have learned that some people ...
One of the most influential aspects that I learned about myself during this course was the Gallup Strength Test. On this test, I was evaluated on by answering personality questions and the results pinpointed five of my superior strengths. The test was online and required that participants choose between two option of what they though was more true about themselves. As I took the test, I found that some of the questions were difficult to choose between. At the end of the test, I discovered that my number one strength was strategy. I highly identified with this result because I enjoy planning ahead and being prepared. It also was apparent during our class retreat when we were constructing the labyrinth. As my peers and I worked together, I was making sure that the path was accurate and that our masterpiece was functional. In other aspects of my life, I find myself looking to achieve the end result by creating a plan of how to get there. For example, I was recently in a group project that was getting off to a slow start. As we were getting closer to the deadline, I contacted my group members to split up the work evenly so that we did not have to meet in person, but would still be able to complete the assignment. By taking on this role, I was able to feel comfo...
First, to improve both my credibility and the content of my speech I will be sure to verbally site all information. In order to accomplish this goal, I will make notes on my note card to remind myself to verbally site my sources, also I will start doing this when I practice my speech because I tend to leave those out because I already know them and forget I have to verbally site all of my sources. Second, to improve the delivery of my speech I am going to stop saying “like” so much. In order to do this I am going to practice my speech 10 times in the mirror so I have a better idea of what I want to say and how the speech is going to flow. Third, I am going to stop using my hands so much in my speech. This creates a distraction and takes away from the information in my speech. The practicing 10 times in a mirror will also help me achieve this goal because I will be able to see myself and notice when I start using my hands. It is important to set goals because there is always something to improve on; nobody is
During my demonstration speech, I was affected by my speech anxiety. Some of the viewable symptoms were the shaking of my hands and also the stuttering of speech. I was able to control myself and relax after I started getting into my information. I did use some of the suggested relaxation techniques to relieve my anxiety. Before I got up to speak I thought confident of myself to help give me courage and confidence.
These past few days, I learned a lot about myself. One of the things I learned about myself is that I am a, Auditory learner. I didn’t agree at at first and after I read it, I said to myself that ‘’That is totally me’’.It said that as a, auditory learner is a person who listens to ideas and loves to tell jokes and I often like to talk to myself. I have trouble writing, and that was one of my goals for this year to become a better writer. I don’t really read body language because I like to express myself a lot and that is what makes me a better learner in my own way. I am very social, I always come to school with something on my mind that I need to do or fix and I have problems of my own. I guess that’s not very personal because everyone
In a team-oriented setting, everyone contributes to how well the group succeeds overall. You work with fellow members of the group to complete the work that needs to be done. Having the right people in the correct roles is an important factor in measuring the success of a team, where you are united with the other members to complete the main goals. Every group is made up of definite strengths and weaknesses. Our team's 3-5 major strengths necessary to work accordingly consist of Informer, Summarizer, Orienter, Piggy-Backer, and Encourager. One of our strengths as a team is that we get input from everyone involved. Every member of our team is a leader in some way. Part of being a good leader is knowing how important it is to receive the best ideas from each member of their team. We attend group meetings where we discuss any challenges, issues, and problems. At these meetings, we often exchange ideas or brainstorm new ones with each other and come up with the best and most creative team solutions as potential answers to those perceived problems.
I can remember sitting in class, feeling eyes burning through me, dodging inquisitive glances from all sides, and anxiously awaiting the bell to ring for lunchtime. As most people know, lunch is the most dreaded part of the first day at a new school. First day of school memories are still fairly vivid for me; my father was in the JAG corps in the Army and my family moved with biannual regularity. In fact, I even attended three different high schools. While this may seem highly undesirable to some, I learned an incredible amount about myself, the world, and other people through moving that I may never have learned otherwise. What I have learned about myself and the world will without a doubt contribute to my success in life and even law school, but what I have learned about other people is of greatest relevance to studying and practicing law.
Another attribute of a team player is how he/she contributes to the team. A team player will discuss his/her ideas, give extra time, and sometimes give money, if it wills the team as a whole. By discussing ideas, a team player is using participative leadership. This gives the team as a whole the chance to solve problems together and work towards a solution. It will make every member of the team ...
Each member is comfortable in finding their place and can feel a sense of belonging within the team. As a team member, I portrayed the roles of a team player and a researcher. I may not be the brain of the group, but I was very eager to help and became a reliable member that follows-through on tasks to resolve conflicts. Also, I became a researcher too, at some point. I formulated various questions and gathered the information and data from the group. According to Sussex (2013), a researcher “is always asking a question and then finding their own answers.” She also stated in her blog that a team player is someone that the team could rely on because they are eager to help and resolve a conflict in a very calm way. I based my personality as a team member according to her seven types of a well-rounded team member in her blog. Each team member has different tasks to do. In our team, we focused on what the content should be and briefly discussed about the structure of the mind map. My biggest contribution would be completing my task, being creative and being able to contribute purposeful ideas to the team. Through teamwork, I learned to develop my strong points and found a way around to my
Many times people forget that teamwork is a combination of the words TEAM and WORK. Which means it takes more than a combined group of people or a team, but it takes that and actions. Positivity, effective skills and effort from each group member. A good team member does their share of work in the group. equity and fairness are key in being a good team member also. A few other characteristics that help a group be successful are , positivity, complimenting other members, communication skills and fairness. By fairness I mean allowing everyone the chance to do something. This group project taught me the ability to be a team player. This is a skill needed to be successful in a group. I feel like it benefit me and my group members because normally
Over the last semester I have learned many things about myself. I have learned that no matter what anyone says I am a strong young woman that can take anything life throws at me. I have also learned a lot about myself as a person and that there is a lot more to the world then just where I grew up. I have also learned that going to a smaller school in high school was a blessing but also was bad for me in many different ways. Through this semester I have learned what my strengths and weaknesses are and how to deal with them. I have learned that some of my strengths are also weaknesses in some way and that to deal with them I must first know what they are. I have also learned what my values are and that sometimes your values change with the things you do. You should also not just settle for things that go against you values. Along with learning what my values are I learned how my personality affects my values. I so the fact that I have more of an internal happy personality affects my values because one of the top values that I have is that I have friends. This relates to the fact that my work interests are more because where I work after college must be a place where I am able to work with people. I am a very socially active person so where ever I work ...
There are numerous lessons that I have learned from life, they were lessons that I learned from good and bad experiences in life. Different experiences from school and out of school that has made me the way I am today. There is a long list of experiences that in reality did not teach me much.
