In our life, nutrition plays a very important roll and people need to be more educated about it. Obesity is a significant problem in our society; more than one-third of the adults in America are obese. The majority of people who try to lose weight do not know how to deal with it and therefor they end up whit different results coursing severe injuries to themselves. There are so many different types of diet programs advertised in the media and it is can be very confusing to know which one you can trust to be effective, which one actually works for you. To determine whether a diet works or not for you, it is necessary to know your own metabolism and how it works. Today, many people do not properly control what they consuming on daily basis and are not aware on how to properly balance their diet because they are not educated in how to count the amount of nutrients intake per day. For instant, everyone should be conscious on what is nutrition, the properties of minerals, nutrients and vitamins, what are their values and the effects of each element in various nutrients. Good choices of foods positively affect an individual’s health while poor diets have long-term negative effects. Healthy diet gives the body sufficient nutrients to perform physically, fight diseases and maintain wellness. Without a doubt, the Atkins diet causes health problems. Be it mild or severe effects, the problems and risks are there. It is difficult to believe that a diet where cream, butter, mayonnaise red meats, and numerous other fatty foods are unlimited could actually be healthy and result in positive weight loss. Ridding the body of obviously healthy foods such as complex carbohydrates can only lead to negative side effects for the dieter. While dieters have the advantage of choosing a plan that is best for them, these serious health risks are something that should be taken into account. In the end, it is a healthy, well balanced diet, consisting of a good amount of exercise that is the key to a healthy lifestyle no matter which way you slice it.

Society has put such a huge emphasis on body image that many males and females are concerned with what they eat and how it makes them look. This has lead to many people with eating disorders and trying multiple diets. According to LiveStrong approximately 45 million Americans diet each year (Uzoma). Not everyone sees the results they wish when dieting, which makes them frustrated and some give up. The reason the diets are not working may be due to the fact that they are not partaking in the right diet for their body. One effective diet for all is tracking what you eat.
Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consume too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight. These last two years, however, I started to gain weight and have become concerned with my diet. Changing my poor eating habits has been difficult for me, however, having this assignment has taught me that it is not as difficult as I previously imagined.
Since we have been learning about nutrition in class, our task was to record a food log. Nutrition requires a well-balanced diet containing nutrient and vitamins like amino acids and fatty acids. Over the past seven days I have been recording and have been looking very carefully at my intake of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and fats. In our task, the objective was to record the basic foods we ate during the period of seven, but it did not require recording every single detail or our intake of food. Doing this food log was a pain and it was disturbing because I never wrote about what I ate like breakfast, lunch, dinner, or additional meals. I found this food log useful because it helped me learn what I can change in my intake of foods to make my diet healthy and to see what about my diet is affecting me from being healthy because I could affect me in the future.
One of the reason’s why I felt my nutrition needed to changes is because nutrition is a huge part of a healthy lifestyle, the way that we eat and what foods we consume can have a huge impact on our everyday lives. People are so busy in their everyday life that they don’t keep track of what they eat on a daily basis. However, it is important to understand the role of nutrition. Nutrition and exercise are vital to maintain physical health. Proper nutrition is required by our body for energy, growth, maintenance, and repair (Grodner, Roth, & Walkingshw, 2012). Even the brain requires nutrients in order for a person to be intellectually healthy. Along with nutrition, exercise can be controlled by an individual. Exercise helps to strengthen bones and muscles, control weight, improves mental health and mood, reduces risk for cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, and some cancers, and overall increases the chances of living longer (CDC). For this assignment, I kept a food journal by tracking what I ate and the amount of exercise on a daily basis on a food tracker for three weeks. The purpose of that was to analyze my diet and exercise in more depth in order to determine the amount of vitamins, minerals, fat, protein, carbohydrates, and calories I am eating daily. Based on the results, I made some modifications.
