Many businesses struggle in today’s sluggish economy. According to ShopperTrak’s National Retail Sales Estimate, total retail sales for Christmas week 2010 dropped 4.1 percent and foot traffic in brick-and-mortar stores fell 6.1 percent (Christmas Week Retail Sales). To increase sales, companies must look for new marketing ideas and revenue streams. Two ideas are using Web advertising and creating online storefronts— ‘click-and-mortar’ stores versus ‘brick-and-mortar’ stores (Journal of Interactive Advertising 2002). Companies also target the massive “Baby Boomer Generation” to appeal to larger audiences. Businesses increase their Web presence effectively and efficiently by creating sites that appeal to the aging Baby Boomers and to all visually impaired people. They create these sites by using Web accessibility.
The term visually impaired describes people reporting difficulty seeing even while wearing corrective lenses as well as those who are blind, according to the American Foundation of the Blind (Facts and Figures). The World Health Organization (WHO) divides vision into four categories: normal vision, moderate visual impairment, severe visual impairment, and blindness. Low vision includes individuals having “moderate visual impairment” and “severe visually impairment.” The low vision category includes legally blind individuals; the Braille Institute defines a legally blind person as someone who “central vision acuity” is 20/200 or less even with corrective lenses, such as glass or contact lenses. Low vision and blindness comprise the spectrum of visual impairment. The WHO states that glaucoma, cataracts, and “uncorrected refractive errors, such as myopia and astigmatism, are the major causes of visual impairment worldwide. ...

There are all different types of medical and disable human beings out in this world. There are also different types of disabilities such as a physical or mental condition that limits a person 's movements, senses, or activities. I choose a sensory impairment, Diabetic Retinopathy which is one of the types of visual impairments that people may happen to get. You also have four other types of visual impairments, cataracts, glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, and retrolental fibroplasia that you can also get. Being a multi-billion dollar retailer comes with its perks. JCPenney’s dominance over catalog merchandising has now extended into the cyber world at www.jcpenney.com. This website is multi-functional and easy to navigate, but how would JCPenney’s new e-commerce site stack up against its toughest competitor, Kohl’s, on the web? The answer may surprise you. This is an intriguing look at how varied retail comparisons can be. While JCPenney is struggling with sales on the retail floor, Kohl’s continues to exceed expectations in their stores. Online though, it is a completely different story.
Google Analytics data collected on behalf of Peg and Kris, LLC for the company’s website domain, www.pegandkris.com, suggests that the company needs to change its current online marketing plan (Google Analytics, 2016). Weaknesses revealed by the data included overall low sales conversions, insufficient sales from social media and email campaign groups, and an usually high amount of sales conversions occurring on a desktop computer despite a larger number of visitors from mobile devices. Strengths included a sufficient number of visitors to the website and decent purchasing behavior from return customers (Google Analytics, 2016).
The company can improve its channel strategy to enhance its current performance in one way. The company’s website is too reliant in the physical stores. The website has photos of the physical store ostensibly to help customers to connect with it. This idea seems well founded. However, the target market for any company that operates an online shopping system is not local. It transcends geographical boundaries. The company needs to consider how it can make the online shopping experience authentic and complete for customers who may never visit any of its physical stores. A website makes a company a global player. In this regard, the company needs to expand its channel strategy to take into account an expanded potential market. This shift in strategy will increase the sales the company makes.
“The Cliptomania Web Store” is a case study which analyses the strategic challenges faced by the founders of www.Cliptomania.com. The Santos, Jim and Candy, developed the idea of selling clip on earrings when they discovered an underserved niche in the market place and subsequently established Cliptomania, LLC. When the Santo’s family started the company in 1999 they had little competition and managed to create a stable business with increased growth, despite the investment of little start up cost and a somewhat limited knowledge of the dot.com industry. Although recent profits have decreased significantly, Cliptomania has remained profitable and competitive in the market place.
Myopia, or nearsightedness, is the most common ocular disorder in the world and affects people of all ages. Nearly 30 percent of the US population is currently affected by myopia and based on the National Eye Institute’s latest projections, 39 million Americans will be affected by 2030 and over 44 million by 2050.

More than a century ago, being diagnosed or being born with visual impairment meant one was condemned to a life of disability, confinement and a feeling of being alone. The visually impaired people have had minimal chances of living an ordinary life and achieving their goals over the past few decades. The visually impaired people face many challenges in their attempts to receive the much-needed education or to even get employment in order to survive in this world. In the last one hundred years, numerous changes have been implemented to improve the way the visually impaired community live their lives and to also increase the number of opportunities made available to them. These changes include new legislations, change in perception of the visually
Intro- Visual impairment is when a person has sight loss that cannot be fully corrected using glasses or contact lenses. Implementation for an online shopping site is fairly easy. Any reputable web designer could put together a user-friendly site that highlights Ann Taylor’s most collectible pieces. A well-designed website would not only attract the younger business women but it would increase customer loyalty by enabling ease of purchase and help expand their customer base through word-of-mouth. Today’s youth no longer look forward to all day shopping trips. They would rather stay home and shop online where their comfortable. It is the way the world these days.
A blind person can either be easy to point out or hard due to the fact that some people that are born without irises or pupils and their eyes are completely white. Some people on the other hand have completely normal eyes but they cannot move their eyes around and it looks like they are always squinting. Sometimes being blind doesn’t even fully mean you cannot see anything at all, being accounted for as a blind citizen can simply mean you do not have great eyesight and need help at times detecting an image. For the people with just extremely poor eyesight, they will have fogged vision or poor acuity, they gain tunnel vision, and reduced contrast. For the people that are completely blind, they have lost limitations to seeing everything in full color, they can only sense light and dark. They cannot drive, they have lost many job opportunities, and gain judgement from others. To prevent any person in the future to fight for blindness to to occur, we must regularly go to the doctor, get glasses, contacts, or surgeries to prevent it. Kids must wear glasses or helmets during sports. We must be careful as to what we are
I will be discussing the use of e-commerce in a “brick and click” organisation. Click organisations are E-commerce sites, like Tesco paly.com, Argos, and amazon. The reason why they are called click is because you have to click to interact with the online store. A brick organisation is your store in the high street, like Gamestation M&S. But the Brick Organisation tends to also have an online website so they can be there for customers 24/7, for example Tesco.
The goal of this report is to analyze the Amazon's e-business strategies and activities. This report also discusses the result of strategies adopted by Amazon and how far it has been successful.
Professor Jerome McCarthy introduced in the early 1960s a marketing mix which consists of the 4 Ps: product, price, place and promotion (Kotler, 1999, p. 94). Traditionally, efficient product, price, place and promotion strategies would lead to a successful business but in today’s society, due to such technological advancements, the internet is changing the way we sell our products and services, and therefore organisations now need online strategies to attract and retain customers. The e-marketing mix considers how the 4 Ps can be presented online in order to give that firm a competitive advantage through digital marketing (Learn Marketing, 2014).
Blindness does not mean that the child is totally without usable vision. Most of blind children have varying amounts of vision, which can be quite helpful. “Legal blindness” is a term you may hear. It means that a child has 10% or less of normal vision. Teachers need to know that many factors affect what, and how much, a child may see at any particular time. Type of eye condition, fatigue, lighting, excitement, etc. all affect a partially sighted child’s vision.
