Recommended: The Impact of Deforestation on the Environment

It is hard to believe that a collection of human beings can cause destruction to an atmosphere changing the surface temperatures all over the world. Global warming is happening, but the debate between scientists, citizens, and politicians is who is causing it? Fifty years ago we could have questioned this and been skeptical about the findings, but now there is research showing how much of an impact we are putting on species, nature, habitats, and glaciers. Glaciers the sizes of buildings are simply disappearing beneath the ocean. Global warming refers to the recent and ongoing rise in global temperature near the Earth’s surface (Environmental Protection Agency). Greenhouse gases produced by transportation, energy, farming, destruction of forests, and mass industrialization is causing the planet to absorb heat rapidly. We the humans are the ultimate cause of the global warming and have the chance to reduce our carbon footprint through fighting climate change denial, reducing deforestation, reducing transportation emissions, reducing our dependency on oil and creating alternative energy, using energy more efficiently, more policies for polluters, and educate the entire world on how humans are causing this. The small steps that we make as of right now will build up to a brighter and more efficient future for generations to come. We have the power to make a difference through changing our everyday routines. Our carbon footprints can dramatically be reduced if we make the effort. The common argument that a climate change denier will make is that the sun is the bigger changing factor in the global temperature rise and not humans.
