Throughout the decade, violence in high schools and colleges has been dramatically increasing and taking a toll on society. The Columbine High School Massacre in Colorado, the sixteen year old boy beaten to death in Chicago, the Virginia Tech rampage, and the death of Yale student Annie Le should encourage government officials to discover a precise solution to cease this type of violent behavior. It seems like every time we read the newspaper, or turn on the TV, someone has been murdered or severely injured from violence in high schools and colleges. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris were seniors at Columbine High School in Colorado. These two intelligent, young men became friends while attending Kenyl Middle School in 1993 (Rosenberg). Klebold and Harris came from homes with both parents and older brothers. They both enjoyed playing baseball, soccer, and working with computers. They appeared to be normal teenagers (Rosenberg). On April 20, 1999, Klebold and Harris drove to their high school on a mission to kill everyone in sight. They walked into the cafeteria carrying two twenty pound propane bombs, and placed them near a table (Rosenberg). The two guys went to their cars, waiting for the bombs to explode. After not hearing an explosion, they decided to enter the school with guns. These individuals entered the school shooting everyone in range. It was senior prank day, so everyone thought it was a joke. Three students were leaving the cafeteria when they saw Klebold and Harris with guns (Rosenberg). The students assumed that the guns were paintball guns so continued walking, and were shot. Klebold and Harris walked down the hallways, as if they were having fun, shooting and laughing.
