There were many views of the issue of slavery during the Enlightenment and the
French Revolution, and the resolution of slavery affected
economics, politics, and social order. The slave trade
triangle between Europe, west Africa, and the Indies has a
great affect on European economics during this time. The
only way for this elaborate trade triangle to work is if there
were black Africans available for export to the Indies as
slaves. If they were not available, then the landowners in the
new world weren't able to produce the sugar, coffee, and
tobacco for export to Europe, and the circuit broken. These
African slaves were convenient, according to Guillaume
Raynal (document 6), because they were thought to be more
comfortable working in the hot conditions of the Indies,
because they had originally come from a very hot climate in
Africa. In order to make the best use of the land, more
efficient workers would be needed, and hence the slaves.
The issue of slavery has extensive impacts on French politics
during the Enlightenment and the revolution. Many colonists
and landowners were confused over the appliance of The
Declaration of Rights of Man to slaves and blacks
(document 13). If it did apply to them then slavery would be
abolished, which (according to document 10) would cause
the colonies to loose commerce, essentially destroying them
because French colonists had only profits from their trade to
live on. Those who were against slavery (documents 9, 15)
used The Declaration of Rights of Man as their main source,
in that it declared equal rights to all men, not just to white
men. Slavery affected European society also in many ways.
Generally, in terms of European society, most people were
against slavery, on the grounds that African slaves were
people too, and they deserved the same basic rights
declared in The Declaration of the Rights of Man. Most
suggested the question of why blacks only were enslaved,
sighting that skin color made no difference in the person
(document 7). Others, like Voltaire, said that the luxuries
that Europe now enjoyed, like sugar, cocoa, coffee, and
tobacco, were not really sufficient to gratify the enslavement
During the period of time between 1789 and 1840, there were a lot of major changes occurring on the issue of slavery such as the impact it had towards the economy and the status of slaves in general. There were two types of African Americans slaves during the era, either doing hard cheap labor in a plantation usually owned by a white and being enslaved, or free. Undoubtedly, the enslaved African Americans worked vigorously receiving minimal pay, while on the other hand, the free ones had quite a different lifestyle. The free ones had more freedom, money, land/power, are healthier, younger and some even own plantations. In addition, in 1820 the Missouri compromise took into effect, which made it so states North of the 36°30′ parallel would be free and South would be slave and helped give way to new laws regarding the issue of slavery.
Slavery allowed the American economy to flourish for over 300 years. It allowed many Southern states to grow at a furious pace without significantly diversifying their economy. The South relied on the harvesting of cash crops such as tobacco and cotton, which were very labor intensive. Without much cheap labor, slaves were relied on to harvest the crops; this provided enormous value to farmers and plantation owners in the region. However, the institution of slavery was challenged in the 18th century by decades of Enlightenment thought, newfound religious ideals, and larger abolitionist groups. After the American Revolution many states would ban the practice of slavery completely and only a few would maintain the “peculiar institution”.
Slavery in the eighteenth century was worst for African Americans. Observers of slaves suggested that slave characteristics like: clumsiness, untidiness, littleness, destructiveness, and inability to learn the white people were “better.” Despite white society's belief that slaves were nothing more than laborers when in fact they were a part of an elaborate and well defined social structure that gave them identity and sustained them in their silent protest.

Farming, sewing, and taking care of livestock were just a few responsibilities that were left to slaves during the 1600's. White families received all of the benefits from the work done, yet they rarely had to lift a finger, unless it was to correct a slave. Today's generation reads about slavery and regards it as morally wrong. While I agree that slavery was one of America's greatest wrongdoings, it paved the way for America as we know it today.
As the slave population in the United States of America grew to 500,000 in 1176, documenting slavery as part of the American Revolution became increasingly important. America was rooted in slavery; and it contributed to the economy and social structure. The revolution forced citizens of the new nation to be conscious of slavery and its potential dismissal from every day life. Two articles that prove slavery only succeeded because of the false reality that slave owners created and the conformity to this reality by slaves are; George Fitzhugh who defends the proslavery argument and Frederick Douglass who supports a desire for freedom.
Despite the horror of the word slavery we have to admit that slaves have played a big role in rising big empires. For example the Egyptians used slaves to build their majestic pyramids, the Chinese and Indian used slaves for large-scale construction and agricultural and the Hebrews also used slaves. Slaves were brought from Africa to the British American colonies to work in agriculture and farming, which among other factors made the British colonies in America become so strong and prosperous.

Physical education helps students improve their knowledge about health issues and practices that will lead to a more enjoyable life. Students playing and working in a team together develop social skills, teamwork, achieving goals, and development of self-esteem. Overall physical education provides the potential for a better life style.
