This poem is based in the 19th century. There are three main
characters in the story. Cousin Kate, Cottage maiden and the Lord. The
title of this poem is self-explanatory. As you can tell the poem is
based on a character called cousin Kate. As she is the main character
in the poem, the whole poem revolves around her. The poem is based on
Triangular Conflict, which means that there is a conflict between
three people. The poem basically tells us about 19th century life and
peoples attitudes towards unlawful relationships. The poem tells us
about a cottage maiden who had an affair with a Lord. She looses her
virginity to him, and then regrets the whole ordeal. In the 19th
century if you were not known as pure, then fellow friends and family
would reject you. It was seen to be unclean and impure if you were to
have sex before marriage. Men would then look down on you in disgust,
as would friends and family. The poem demonstrates how a man can love
a woman, then throw her away and move onto another as he pleases, and
because he was a lord the cottage maiden could not say a thing. This
brings into light the difference between higher and lower class
people. If the cottage maiden had said anything, people would not
believe her and would turn a blind eye to her, and to her accusations.
Stanza 1 portrays the introduction to the poem. The issues raised in
these two stanzas show that she was 'lured' by the lord. This tells us
that he dragged her in like an animal luring its prey, waiting to
attack its victim. At the beginning of stanza 1 it tells us that she
is happy with her life. According to the introduction she works on a
cottage and is happy with her life. According to this she is
'contented' her mates. She is happy with her friends and is all
together happy with her life. She then goes on to say "why did a great
lord find me out". This tells us that out of all the workers, or all
the girls the lord knows, the cottage maiden was chosen. The start of
the poem is written in first person narrative and carries on like that
throughout the poem.
The structure of this stanza is written in first person narrative,
this means it was written from her point of view, and shows her
feelings and no one else. The language used is very early 19th-20th
century; it gives the impression of happiness leading to sadness.

The fall of Quebec was a turning point in Canadian history, changing it from a French colony to a British colony. Had this battle gone the other way, English might be the second language, not French. The battle of Quebec was one of many battles during the 'Seven Year War'. They called it the Maritime War. It was officially declared in May 1756. Britain and Prussia were on one side and France, Spain, and Austria on the other. The war moved across the Atlantic Ocean from Europe because the French and the British were fighting over furs and land. Britain, while subsidizing and aiding Prussia, its only European ally, sought victory in America and sent what was for that century an overwhelming number of regular troops in order to stiffen the military of the American colonies.
The Confederation act of 1867 without question has had a major influence on the status of contemporary Canada. It has helped shape Canada into one of the worlds most politically and economically powerful countries; a country that is strong, independent, and united. There was a series of events which led to the confederation of Canada, some which are more significant than others. However, I believe that despite the significance of events such as the British encouragement of uniting its North American colonies, the central and key reason for confederation was the fear of potential American (Yankee) inhabitance (whether by persuasion or invasion) of the divided and vast British North American colonies, and the way that the “Fathers of Confederation” were able to take advantage of this situation and persuade reluctant colonies to join Confederation. A strong and united nation could not be easily invaded or bought. These essential factors will be discussed in the paragraphs to come.

When asked how she knows when she is happy, she said, "I really only know when I am unhappy. I look forward to getting up early and staying occupied, and I volunteer as a mentor."
The death toll in Pontiac’s War was 2,650 people, both British and Native American. Pontiac’s Rebellion was a rebellion that happened in 1763 when the tribes Ottawa, Ojibwa, Shawnee, Miami, Huron, Seneca, and Potawatomi joined together under the leadership of Pontiac, the chief of the Ottawa tribe, and sprung attacks on the British around their area. They captured three major British forts including Fort Pitt and Fort Detroit. Pontiac’s War influenced the American Revolution. Below are the main ideas: Causes, What Happened, Short and Long Term Effects, If It Didn’t Happen, and the Leaders of Pontiac’s War.
The yellow wallpaper and a rose for emily embody characteristics and experiences of women within a society that views of them in the time period women in the time period where discriminated against by society and made them feel worthless and depressed Likewise, the protagonist in both stories experience insanity, loneliness, feelings of being controlled, and finally, actions that show that each became completely out of control. However, the stories are as different as the authors themselves are. Charlotte Perkins Gilman, a feminist and social activist during the late 1800s when the subjugation of women was common often struggled with depression. this motivated , Charlotte Perkins Gilman to write The Yellow Wallpaper from the viewpoint of an oppressed female suffering depression while using A first-person perspective in such a way that provides the reader with an inside look at the mentally unstable point of view of the protagonist in the story.William Faulkner wrote A Rose for Emily, from the viewpoint of a member of a town while using A third-person perspective to show the characteristics of A southern town the town's people, and more specifically, one of the town's wealthy inhabitants Emily . though both stories have strong similarities in subject matter ' individual points of view resulted in two very different viewpoints concerning their surroundings and thus, two dramatically different themes But one strong underlying meanings in each of the stories. And that is oppression of Females in the 1800s
Statistical accounts show consistent accord in that African Americans are disproportionately arrested over whites. What is much less lucid, however, is the real reason for this disparity. Both criminologists and political scientists alike have expounded remarkably polarized explanations for this phenomenon. Exemplary of this are two arguments as developed as they are diametrically opposed, that of William Wilbanks and that of Samuel Walker, Cassia Spohn and Miriam DeLone.
According to statistics since the early 1970’s there has been a 500% increase in the number of people being incarcerated with an average total of 2.2 million people behind bars. The increase in rate of people being incarcerated has also brought about an increasingly disproportionate racial composition. The jails and prisons have a high rate of African Americans incarcerated with an average of 900,000 out of the 2.2 million incarcerateed being African American. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics 1 in 6 African American males has been incarcerated at some point in time as of the year 2001. In theory if this trend continues it is estimated that about 1 in 3 black males being born can be expected to spend time in prison and some point in his life. One in nine African American males between the ages of 25 and 29 are currently incarcerated. Although the rate of imprisonment for women is considerably lower than males African American women are incarc...

The Salem Witch Trials were an event where Americans were at their lowest. Whenever someone could be accused of being a witch and was guilty until they were proven innocent. The Crucible is a play written about this time frame where it really shows the mob mentality that everybody can have. The accusation of “witchcraft” spreads through this village putting peoples’ lives at stake just to cover up what some girls are afraid to confess to. Because of the fear through the village of witchcraft, it is believed to be true and people begin to be put on trials. The way the mob can affect a community can be overwhelming to the people in the town and could even tear it apart. Just because of one group of people, it can become chaos. Groups of people are unpredictable and can turn into mobs because people act differently in crowds, one person can affect everybody, and with more people, more things are going to happen.
In the article “Shitty First Drafts,” By Anne Lamott, she lets out the long held secret to good writing, there is never a good first run on a paper. The criminal justice system is the set of agencies and processes established by governments to control crime and impose penalties on those who violate laws. It has responsible for investigating the crimes that will allow them to bring justice, to improve the effectiveness of the rules and procedures, and to gain a sense of confidence in people of the country. The word “crime” means an illegal action that is prohibited by law or a breakage of certain laws set by the criminal justice system. Our society constantly read and hears about the phenomenal growth of crime and the increase of the crime problem. Our society may see the officers of the criminal justice making an arrest or patrolling the streets, but they do not realize that the criminal justice system has a government type structure, has goals, and is made up of three components, law enforcements, the court and corrections and all three works together to protect an individual’s rights and the rights of the society against crime.
