Digital Certificates
General Introduction
The creation of Digital Ids has become lately a big need since a variety of electronic transaction including e-mail, electronic commerce, groupware and electronic funds transfer have made a part of everyone's life especially those that accessing the net makes the basis of their daily work where nothing can introduce them or identify them but a digital certificate that is authenticated for the server.
Thus, in order to prove your identity in electronic transactions, just as a driver license or a passport does in face-to-face interaction, came the need to create Digital Ids that are instrumental in establishing a secure channel for communicating any sensitive information back to the server. In this way, every document or data or information sent to friends, associations, firms... are authentic. In more words, Digital Ids are presented to show your right to access information or online services.
Digital Ids are also known as certificates. They are issued by certification authority (ca) such as Verisign, that provides besides issuing, revocation and renewing of the certificates. Therefor Digital Ids provide a more complete security solution.
A Digital Id typically contains the:
1- Owner's public key.
2- Owner's name.
3- Expiration date of the public key.
4- Name of the issuer (the certification authority that issued the Id ex: Verisign).
5- The serial number of the Digital Id.
6- Digital signature of the issuer.
Types of Certificates.
1- Personal Certificates: used to identify yourself to the server and to all users.
2- Server Certificates: designed to protect you and your visitors to your site, it's
used by secure servers who ensure the user that his affiliation is legitime.
3- Advantages:
a- Authenticate your site: A Digital certificate on your server automatically communicates your site's authenticity to visitor's web browsers, confirming that the visitor is actually communicating with you, and not with a fraudulent site stealing credit card numbers or any personal information.
b- keep private communication private: Digital Certificates encrypt the data visitors that exchange with your site to keep it safe from interception or tampering using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology, the industry-standard method for protecting web communications.
Virtually all web servers and leading browsers, including Netscape Communicator, are optimized and ready for SSL. To activate SSL sessions with visitors to your site, all you need is a Digital Certificate for your sever.
c- Identity visitors: If visitors to your site use personal Digital Certificates, your server can instantly recognize them, facilitating instant log-in ( and preventing later repudiation of the web transaction ).
In what is sure to be a very solemn matter for all American students and their families across the country , in January 2013 , President Obama, the office of the Vice President and the White House Council on Women and Girls converged and issued a renewed call to action against rape and sexual assault report which analyzes the most recent reliable data about this issue and identifies who are the most in peril victims of this malefaction, investigates the costs of this violence both for victims and communities , and describes the replication very often inadequate of the US malefactor equity system.
The Holy Sepulchre is a church. It is also called the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre and the Church of the Resurrection. This site is located in Christian quarter in the old wall city of Jerusalem. In early 2nd century the site was formerly a pagan temple. The first Christian emperor, Constantine ordered that the temple to be demolished around 325/356 and had it replaced by a Christian church. He ordered Macarius of Jerusalem, the local Bishop, to build a church on the site of the previous pagan temple. Many reports in 333 say,"There, at present, by the command of the Emperor Constantine, has been built a basilica, that is to say, a church of wondrous beauty". The church was built by connecting three churches, the Martyrium, Triportico, and the Anastasis. The old church of Anastasis is said to contain evidence of burial site of Jesus Christ. As legend says it Constantine ordered for the rock face from the alleged burial site to be removed from the rock cut room in order to isolate it.
“I felt his hands start to move down towards my shorts as if he was trying to unbutton them or pull them off. I was still crying at this point and felt so scared that I couldn’t move” (Henneberger, 2012). These are words written by a college freshman after she had been raped, but they are true for many others as well. According to the Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit Counties, “every two minutes someone in the US is sexually assaulted” (Get the Facts). “Girls ages 16-19 are four times more likely than the than the general population to be victims of sexual assault” (Get the Facts). These women may be described as slut, cheap, or ready for action, rather than victim, sufferer, or survivor. Rape myths encourage these demeaning terms for women and conceal the reality of rape culture. I will describe the pervasiveness of sexual assault on college campuses as well as the systems and procedures in place to address it. Power plays a role in this issue, including the powerful men on campus such as athletes and fraternity members as well as the administrators in power who regulate the punishments and actions that are taken against the perpetrators. The influence of those in power often goes overlooked in our society because it has become so intertwined with our culture.
90 percent of the victims of sexual assault are women and 10 percent are men, and nearly 99 percent of offenders in single-victim assaults are men (Bureau of Justice Statistics 2010). According to https://www.justice.gov/ovw/sexual-assault, Sexual assault is any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient. Falling under the definition of sexual assault are sexual activities as forced sexual intercourse, forcible sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, and attempted rape. () Sexual Assault can happen to anyone, not just women it can happen to men and kids as well. Sexual Assault these days are a big trouble and it is not being addressed in good order, and it is
Have you ever been encountered in a circumstance of being raped or knew an individual that was a victim of rape? Every one-hundred and seven seconds an American is sexually assaulted (RAINN). Rape has become a continuous problem causing controversy due to the way colleges cover up or simply hide incidents of rape throughout campus. More college students are also being raped by their own acquaintances rather than random strangers. Students, parents, and politicians question the way schools protect students and how their campuses can become more effective and efficient in preventing further occurrences of rape. Over the past years there has been a series of incidents where rape has been an extreme problem on college campuses in America that have been kept quiet until something traumatic happens. The prevalence of rapes on college campuses is continuing to rise due to lack of security, surveillance and awareness.
Rape is currently on the rise on American college campuses and it is the most common committed crime among college students today. In their time in college 1 out of every 5 women and 1 out of every 71 men will experience some form of sexual harassment as reported by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center. These numbers are growing each year and have raised a lot of concern in the administrative level of higher education institutions. In an effort to try and prevent these occurrences universities have begun to implement mandatory curriculum to educate students on the subject and have even begun to hold campus wide events and create clubs to spread awareness and show support because of the repetitive nature of this crime. While it is good
In today’s world, we can say that the main danger to privacy, security for people who lives in free democratic societies can come from the system that will create and apply supposedly very high tech national ID card.
He begins with an example of the cameras on the bridges and tunnels to indicate the point of giving up for safety. Further on, the author expresses his opinion about ID cards by being sarcastic and not completely indicate that he is in favor of them. Moreover, the author wants the reader to consider giving up privacy to allow for more protective measures by implementing a National ID card program. He suggests that the reader should consider all the many activities that we do today that require a photo id. He tries to persuade the reader to his point of view with his example of how an ID card with a fingerprint chip would make it more difficult for thieves to fake our identities.
Rape culture on college campuses is a prominent issue that various universities cannot effectively tame. Unfortunately, many put quotations on the issue as if its presence on college campuses is not as dramatic or detrimental as statistics illustrate. Although there are programs that receive grants to educate youth and young adults on rape prevention, the percentages of reported incidents and unreported incidents are not reducing as planned. This is in direct relation to some colleges and programs believing that “rape prevention is still a woman’s job”. (Allen) As reported by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 16 men are sexually assaulted during their college career suggesting that this is more than a woman’s
Christ was crucified at but it is also believed that it was where he was buried and then resurrected. Because of this belief, the church has become the foremost pilgrimage site for the Christian religion. The church that stands today is a reconstruction of the original church because the church was damaged throughout the years by fire, invasion, and earthquakes. The original church was rebuilt during the middle ages when an agreement was reached between the Fatimids and the Byzantine Empire. The tomb itself is empty of course but millions come to the church to pay their respects to the religious figurehead.
Sexual assault is a social issue that has been a pressing topic of conversation throughout communities in the United States. The rapid interest in sexual assault comes after a string of released content about the prominence and severity of sexual assault against women. The media has chosen increase public awareness on the fact that “one in 5 women and one in 16 men are sexually assaulted while in college” (). Media content on the topic includes the highly-rated documentary “The Hunting Ground” and a report and a call to action from the White House Council on Women and Girls. The public outcry is not only because of the staggering rate of sexual assault rather it is the lack of or mishandled reporting of sexual assaults in college. This paper
According to the US Justice Department, sexual assault is any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient and includes sexual activities such as forced sexual intercourse, forcible sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, and attempted rape. Sexual assault has always been an unacknowledged problem within society, especially on college campuses, with many people either being reluctant to speak out, believing it to be a sort of “myth” or call for attention, or just not knowing how to deal with it. For example, more than one-third of victims don’t report attacks because they didn’t realize a crime was committed. Sexual assault is a serious problem that must not be suppressed by individuals
One of the many social issues in this society is sexual assault on college campuses. It has become a tremendous issue. According to one of the articles, “One in five women (20%) will be sexually assaulted while at college while only 4% of college men will be sexually assaulted”. Females are usually afraid to inform anyone about what happened to them for the same reason that they are scared that people will not believe them or are embarrassed. 42 percent of the females will keep silent, and in college, only 5 percent of the people that get sexual assaulted report it, which makes sexual assault the most unreported crime. On college campuses, perpetrators are often the serial offenders and there are ways we can better this issue.
The transfer and preservation of Information is a major part of the digital age. People try to control their flow of information and the amount of information websites, organisations and even the government has on them. And even with the various ways of protecting information, there are still issues of privacy, freedom of information and the conflict between the public and private domains on who really owns or governs these information.
Identity cards vary, from passports to health cards to driver licenses. Each play a different role, one will be used to travel another used when individuals seek care and another simply to drive around town. Identity cards serve as a form of surveillance to insure the wellbeing within a country against danger. This brings me to say, is monitoring an individual’s life going to insure their safety? Forms of identification can offer security, freedom as well as accessibility to North American citizens. Although, scenarios such as identity theft can cause individuals to think otherwise. The topics discussed in this essay is, the use of identification allows basic rights to North American citizens. Monitoring insures security within countries as
