Reason and Irrationality in King Lear
In King Lear, Shakespeare deals with the issue of reason and irrationality namely by contrasting the Machiavellian tactics of Goneril, Regan, and Edmund with the love Edgar, Gloster, Lear, and Cordelia experience. In doing so, he makes a very profound statement about the nature of human existence—he condemns reason and natural order while promoting the most nonsensical thing in the world: human love. From the text, I ascertain that Shakespeare believes that all anybody needs to survive in the unjust world is love. I, however, believe that this is an unreasonable and unattainable expectation for the world we live in.
In order to understand how Shakespeare arrived at his conclusion, it is first necessary to see how he characterized reason and unreason in the text. Reason was found in the egoists, the characters that would be considered the villains or antagonists of the play. Edmund, Goneril, and Regan displayed behavior of methodical ambition for status and power. Their actions reflected the desire to revert to what I deem “the natural” and discard the contrived conventions of society. For example, Edmund desired to be treated like the human being he was instead of the bastard he was known in society. Goneril and Regan’s treason against their father, though considered disrespectful by society, would be perfectly normal in nature where survival depends on the strongest and fittest. Thus, this conduct is based on reason and the basic means to survive and thrive without interventions from emotions or moral dilemmas.
The behavior of these characters is symbolically reflected in the storm. The storm, a natural event, was destructive and nondiscriminatory. It did not care whether there was a king or a beggar in its path. Although the storm appeared to be chaotic, its behavior can be described in scientific terms. When we do this, we find that its movements are very precise and that lightning does not strike randomly but due to the buildup of excess charge in the sky. Thus, the storm, and in fact all things in nature, behaves in calculating and precise manners. Edmund, Goneril, and Regan’s behavior was no different from what can be found in nature. Certain species of animals will kill “family” members in order to gain territory or become alpha male of the pack.
In conclusion, my recently experience was when my family and me decides to moved to the United States. It was a tremendous change moved to another country. Moving to another country is giving us an opportunity about different language, meet new people, better jobs and great education. This experience maybe was harmful and difficult for all the family, but if we moved for better life, it could be an excellent opportunity for our future. To sum up, now we enjoying living here, my parents have a good job and my brothers and me study at great school.
At first, the idea of my family and me moving to the United States was fun and exciting. I couldn’t wait for the time for my family and me to leave, get to ride an airplane, eat stateside food such as spam, corned beef, apples, and oranges, and experience the different seasons, especially winter. Because of the excitement of coming to America, I didn’t have the time to think and realize the effects of moving away from home such as missing everything, adopting a different culture, and being independent.
When I first moved to America I had many difficult, but positive life changing experiences. My parents, five sisters, four brothers, and I were all very nervous and excited to start a new life. I had many life changing experiences when it was my first time in an airport, starting school to learn a new language, and moving to Lincoln, Nebraska.
Due to it being a document of title the shipment will be incomplete without the documentation; therefore it cannot be passed on to the correct party when the goods are presented at the port of destination stipulated in the ocean bill of lading.
...ith his personality, Lear made a mistake and his chastisement is the death of his only loyal daughter Cordelia. Throughout King Lear characters put each other on trial. Lear and Gloucester both misjudge their children, who seem to possess better judgement. Cordelia has the measure of her sisters and Goneril's assessment of their father is acute and accurate. Edmund knows exactly how to take in his gullible relatives. It seems that better judgment is not the preserve of those who seemingly have good intentions. Sight is gained with blindness and this is shown to both Lear and Gloucester. Lear's insanity and Gloucester's blindness enables them to obtain this better judgement in the end. Lear has inspired in us, together with his pity, much admiration and affection. We can say the cause of his fatal flaw, in its full entirety, leads him to the discovery of this flaw.
Human values apply the matters of right and wrong within our judgments. Shakespeare shows us how wicked and ruthless human nature can be when making choices. Moral misjudgments of the characters lead to an intense circle where life-threatening situations meet. In the tragedy King Lear written by William Shakespeare, striving for the opportunity of justice in the world for individual judgments, along with betrayal amongst family members proves the cruel chaos that illustrates throughout the play. This tragedy is a story of a man, entitled King Lear, and his decision leading to his future along with the fate of others. Many sad stories produce a tragic hero. ... USB flash drive, mainly by design they could be assembled and manufactured by hand because this would not only decently energy efficient but more than likely cost effective. This methodology would work best for smaller production volumes. For bigger production volumes, it would be more beneficial to put an investment in machines and robots that could have the complexities that a human worker could not and supply would increase faster.
This was back in November 2007, in India. I was 12 years old. I was enjoying my normal life. But I didn’t know that my life will change surprisingly. One day I came home from the school and my parents made decision of moving to the United States. I was totally amazed at that moment. My parents wanted move so that me and my sister can have a better life, education, and opportunity.
Edmund’s power corrupts him into a dishonest, even dangerous person just to gain as much control as possible. His wrong-doings result in him paying the consequences in full. Even the brotherly bond isn't enough to stop the corruption. This power forces them into seeing nothing but total control. Regan and Goneril gain power over their father’s land and they in turn, banish Lear from their households, and leave him to fend for himself out in the storm. Edmund’s hunger for power doesn’t stop at anything, he goes as far as letting Cornwall take out Gloucester’s eyes for trying to kill
King Lear, the protagonist of the play, is a truly tragic figure. He is driven by greed and arrogance and is known for his stubbornness and imperious temper, he often acts upon emotions and whims. He values appearances above reality. He wants to be treated as a king and to enjoy the title, but he doesn’t want to fulfill a king’s obligations of governing for the good of his subjects.
Hatred and desire fueled Goneril, Regan, and Edmund to lie in order to obtain their parents’ power leading to destruction within their family. Edmund’s hatred was continued by the reminder that he was only the bastard son of Gloucester driving him to lie to both of them ultimately ruining his father’s eyesight and his brother’s identity. Goneril and Regan got rid of their father while retained his power by lying about who loved him the most and took away his knights. From King Lear, Shakespeare concluded that greed and power are capable of ruining a family.

Asemi observe that Management Information System (MIS) is one of the information systems that is computer based. Besides, Asemi defines MIS as “an organizational method of providing past, present and project information related to internal operations and external intelligences. It supports the planning, control and operation functions of an organization by furnishing uniform information in the proper time frame to assist the decision makers,” (2011). The aim of MIS is to satisfy the general information need of the entire manager in an organization. Before the advent of computers, the process of decision-making was one that was full of built-in advantages and ad hoc methods. Computers technologies have changed the landscape of the decision-making process completely by making the process less demanding and easy to undertake. The reason for this situation is that information technology has made access to information more automated, efficient, effective, timely, and less ambiguous. Consequently, the ordinary t...
King Lear was a tragic hero that was born into nobility, endowed with a tragic flaw and doomed to make a serious error in judgement. King Lear was born into nobility. "He owned vast amounts of land and ruled over many people. Give me the map there. know that we have divided In three our Kingdom." Not only was King Lear born into nobility he was responsible for his own fate. He disowned his daughter Cordelia and made his other two daughters rulers of his land once divided into three now divided into two. His two daughters really did not love him they just wanted the land and power. They turned against their father and had him sentenced to death by Edmund. Lear's death was his own fault. This reason came about because of King Lear's tragic flaw, his pride. Pride is also his reason of how he is a tragic hero. "Tell me, my daughters,-- Since now we will divest us both of rule, Interest of territory, cares of state,-- Which of you shall we say doth love us most, That we our largest bounty may extend Where nature doth with merit challenge?" King Lear was egotistic in the first act where he asked his daughters who loved him most. When he found out his favorite daughter Cordelia did not have much to say about his love for him he disowned her and divided his land to his two evil daughters Regan and Goneril, "From whom we do exist, and cease to be; Here I disclaim all my paternal care, Propinquity and property of blood, And as a stranger to my heart and me Hold thee, from this, for ever." This was also the error in King Lear's judgement.
