Personal Narrative - Body Image
One's body is what makes one who one is. Every inch of someone is what sets a person apart from everyone else. Even though everyone has an opinion about what his or her perfect body would be, changing one's personal features would take away from individuality. I personally would never have plastic surgery because when I look at myself, I do not see a tall, skinny young man with a funny looking nose and big "bug" eyes, but I see a beautifully sculpted masterpiece that God has made just for me. It is a body that gives me character, individuality, and confidence.
In my personal opinion, and I say this as humbly as I can, I am a very good-looking young man. I have a very animated face that goes well with my personality, which is humorous, but in a mature fashion. I can be serious and stare at others with my endless snowflake blue eyes, but if I get too drastic for the mood, it is easy to look at my nose and then laugh to lighten the air. I take pride in the fact that there is no one else on this earth exactly like me. Not just my inner beauty, but my outer beauty makes me different from everyone else. Life would be so boring if everyone looked exactly the same, but what is inside oneself makes one beautiful, not only inside, but outside as well. I personally could not be more content and happy with who I am.
If I were to walk down the street, there would be many different comments going through people's heads as I passed. Some people would find me attractive, and some would find me ugly. Some people might find me sexy, and others might find me skinny and sickly looking. The bottom line is that it does not matter what they think. It only matters what I think because I am the only one in the whole world that has to live with myself.

Gates of Fire is a novel about the Battle of Thermopylae that takes place in ancient Greece. The novel began by focusing on its protagonist, Xeones, who had died in the Battle of Thermopylae. The Greek god Apollo resurrected him from death so that he could tell the Persian king, Xerxes, the story of his life. Xeones story started when he was just a young boy. His town was betrayed and conquered by one of their allies. He avoided being killed by escaping to the mountains with his cousin, Diomache, and his family’s slave, Bruxieus. The three lived on the mountains for two or three years before Bruxieus became very sick and died. Because of this, Diomache and Xeones decided to go to Athens. Xeones then decided to leave Athens and go to Sparta while Diomache decided to stay.

“Best Selling Car in America”: this is the claim Toyota has made regarding its popular model, the Camry. Indeed, “The Toyota Camry remains the top-selling passenger car in America” (Stern et al., par. 2). This has remained true during the last 4 years and throughout the last 8 of 9 years. The Corolla ranks in at no. 8 with 216,934 units sold.
There is a famous saying that states, “ we should not judge a book by its cover”, but oftentimes the first thing noticed on a person is their looks. One’s “physical beauty” strongly influences people’s first impressions of them. As a whole, we tend to assume that pretty people are more likeable and better people than those who are unattractive. Around the world, we believe that what is beautiful is good. There is a general consensus within a culture about what is considered physically appealing and beautiful. “Physical beauty” is associated with being more sociable, intelligent, and even socially skilled. Society shares this common notion of who has and who does not have “physical beauty”. Thus, “physical beauty”, as seen

Everyone has their own perception of beauty. The attractive attributes in something or someone is based on an opinion. In other countries and cultures their definition of beauty might be different than others. What my culture considers beautiful can be repulsive to other cultures. I define beauty in a few different ways. I believe a person can be physically attractive or internally attractive or both. There are features on a person’s body such as, white teeth, freckles, moles, or clear skin making that person unique. On the other hand, a person can be considered beautiful because their personality is delightful. Massy’s, “A Grotesques Old Woman” is the perfect example of the proverb “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
The Perfect Body In today's society, women are obsessed with having a specific body type to make others find them attractive. They want to feed the society’s body type expectations. What is a perfect body? Does it even exist? However, advertising, boyfriends, and family members often make women feel that skinny bodies are perfect bodies.
Before understanding the effects of body image on contemporary women, one must first comprehend the term that is body image. According to Psychology Today’s definition, “body image is the mental representation one has for themselves. It is the way one sees their physical body. However, this mental representation may or may not always be accurate.
The way a person see’s oneself and imagines what they look like is one’s body image. One can either have a positive or negative connotation regarding their own body appearance. A positive body image means that most of the time one is comfortable and satisfied about the way they appear. In a sense, that means they feel good about the way they see themselves in mirrors or pictures. Having a negative body image is a common struggle for individuals. This means they are unhappy with their physical appearance and constantly want to change something about him or herself. Negative body image leads to serious mental problems such as anorexia or bulimia. Not only do we have a personal view on our body image, but society also has an input. Society

Body image in both male and female adolescents is a critical issue during the cognitive development of adolescents. Body image refers to how a person sees their body, especially in comparison to others. Society plays an impactful influence on adolescents body image. For instance, women are portrayed in society as needing to be a size zero and be skinny. Women who are thinner make an average of $15,000 more each year, in comparison to obese women. Although, men’s salary does not differentiate between their physical stature. Society also portrays men to be lean and muscular. Society’s interpretation of both genders is unrealistic. Every person’s body type differs. Instead of wanting to be thin or muscular, adolescents should focus on
One of the very first things a buyer should consider when looking for a car is what kind of car he/she wants. Many different factors can affect the car buying process. For one, the buyer must consider how big of a vehicle he/she wants and safety features like airbags, seatbelts, and working brakes. Itemizing a list of accessories can also help narrow down what kind of car to buy. While some people might prefer a Sedan with a large back seat and seat warmers, others may prefer an extreme luxury car with full stereo systems and miniature televisions. Every person has different tastes in accessories; luckily, there is a vehicle that can fit almost every personality. Most new models have the latest technology installed, although some of the “newer” used cars have the option of adding in those accessories. Once the...
Body Image is one of the most crucial topics America has developed over the years. It is based off of the way an individual sees themselves or think people see the way their body looks and this might not completely be equevalent . In the United States, it is not uncommon for a person to feel like they need to fit in with society and the way people are portrayed. Without very little realization, the effects of being obsessed with a certain look can be drastic to ourselves, it becomes like a disease which eventually can lead to potential drastic measures. Body Image is sometimes influenced by the people that surround us. Since we are around them most of the time, they have a huge importance, for instance, if you have a friend who is
Beauty has differed through time, different cultures and perceptions of the world. It’s not easy to define beauty, you could say that there are “a thousand” definitions of beauty. And there are numerous degrees of each. “Beauty depends on the eye of the beholder”. This saying is correct because what one individual considers beautiful is not necessarily what another individual may consider beautiful. Someone “beautiful on the outside” can be “ugly inside”. The media and the society are constantly using the conception of “beauty” to show us what we should strive to be. They assert that we have to appear a certain way to be viewed as beautiful. This is wrong, so what is beauty, really, and what different ways of looking at beauty are there?
