Music Television
What do a teenager from Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States have in common? Young people around the world seem to like the same kind of things which includes music and television. They all share one favorite television channel -M.T.V. Music is the new global language; it talks to the youth worldwide. Let me introduce you the first international generation. They wear Levi's, shop at Benetton, wear Swatch watches and drink Pepsi. This is not to say that there are not any cultural differences, that the French teenagers are not different from the USA teenagers. However, a French teenager and U.S. teenager are much more similar to each than they are to their parents. The most powerful source of this global language is M.T.V. There are many international versions of M.T.V.: M.T.V. USA, M.T.V. Europe and M.T.V. Asia, M.T.V. Australia and M.T.V. in Latin America.
I can not say it is bad. I am the same age as M.T.V. I can not say that I do not belong to the M.T.V. generation. I am fascinated by the way M.T.V. brings the same cultural values worldwide. In this new brave world created by M.T.V., we all are sharing the same values. We wear what we see the celebrities wearing. We drink what Brithney Spears drinks. We wear T-shirt with M.T.V. logo on it, because we believe that is a way to express that we are part of this new global youth culture. And we are thankful to M.T.V., which is making a difference for us. We blindly believe that we are different from our parents, that we are better, freer. Yes, we got common language but our conversation is commercial one. The main topic is what designer clothes we want, what are the latest trends and so on. That is what we got in common - celebrities and fashion trends. We still share the old society's prejudices, we still got our gender issues, we are still are caring our race issues. And all that is brought to us by our beloved, lifesaving music channel-M.T.V..
When M.T.V. started out, twenty years ago, it looked like TV radio station, airing video clips, rather than news and show programs.
The Schlieffen Plan in The First World War The German commanders realised that if war broke out, they would have to fight two powerful countries at the same time: France to the west and Russia to the east. They had to produce a well co-ordinated plan because they would have to otherwise split their forces in two. Therefore, they worked out a plan called the Schlieffen Plan.
The Schlieffen Plan in The First World War In 1894, France had made a treaty with Russia, meaning that if France or Russia ever declared war or became under attack they would fight for each other. When Germany declared war on France in 1914, they soon realised they would have to fight a war on two fronts; Russia and France. The German Chief Of Staff, Count Alfred Von Schlieffen, designed the Schlieffen Plan, thought up in 1905, to defeat France and their allies Russia.
It may seem like wars start abruptly, with little cause, but usually there is a bigger story. New policies, lack of equality, military influence, and too much government involvement usually stir up the peace initially. These turn the country or area into a ‘powder keg’, ready to explode into war at the smallest spark. Although the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand was the spark of World War I, policies at the time like nationalism and militarism were the underlying causes of the war.
We like to label things in our culture. Those over the age of 65 are called senior citizens. Those under the age of 18 are called children. Anyone falling in between those ages are considered adults and there are certain expectations placed on that demographic. Adults are the backbone of society, responsible for basically just about everything. Television reflects that responsibility, as adults are usually portrayed as hard-working, career-oriented, and often married and raising children. With television reinforcing these expectations, many young people have probably felt that they need to grow into these roles and become responsible adults. A decade ago, however, NBC’s sitcom Seinfeld debuted challenging these social preconceptions of what an adult should be.
Plan of Investigation This investigation will evaluate the question, to what extent did the British Women’s Auxiliary Air Force assist the Allies’ war efforts during the Second World War? This question is important because in World War 1 British women were active in the war effort but to a limited extent, acting as nurses on the battle field and working in munitions factories, but resumed their traditional roles in society after the war. In World War 2 women were more active in the military through auxiliary groups, such as Women’s Auxiliary Force (WAAF) and it is important to understand how much of an impact their work made on the Allies war effort.

The underlying cause of World War I was the build up of Nationalism, Imperialism, and Militarism in the 1800s. The “three isms” caused this great war due to the outcry in which they caused within the countries and their citizens including military build up, severe nationalism, patriotism, and extending a country 's power and influence through diplomacy or military force.
It would be hard for one to dispute the fact that MTV has influenced every pop culture trend since its birth in 1981. One could even say that MTV is pop culture. No other media network holds in the palm of its hand the power to control popular cultural evolution the way MTV does. What other media network has influenced and helped shape public opinion, filmmaking, newsgathering techniques, presidential politics, and world politics like MTV has? In addition to that, MTV can take credit for reconstructing the music industry (Rushkoff 126). One would be hard pressed to find a person who does not enjoy some type of music. Thus, "Music" television was built on a foundation that was virtually united by the whole world, and its popularity was inevitable. MTV chose popular music as its beating heart, instead of classical music or jazz. Young people around the country could now see their favorite music icons 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a result, the young people of America were given a national/international platform to share their common voice, a voice that to this day wants to be heard. Since MTV has such a large hand in shaping the young minds of today, it is important that both parents and children are aware of the impact MTV has in their daily lives.
The objective of the plan was to attack France with all of the power the Imperial Germany Army had, which would make a quick victory for Germany on one side. After the victory in France, Germany would than attack Russia because Schlieffen believed the Russian military was frail and not a real threat. Thus, the war would be over by Christmas with a German victory. When World War I broke out in July of 1914, the Germans implemented the Schlieffen Plan with slight changes made by Colonel-General Helmuth von Moltke, and lost the Battle of the Marne on the western front and the Russian army nearly decimated the German army on the east. There are recently discovered documents from Schlieffen that suggest that he did not plan for his strategy to be used in war, but was a rough draft. Changing has seemed to be the way MTV has survived over the years. MTV has grown very much since it was created. It is no longer only the “Music Television” channel. When ratings started going down, MTV had to branch out. MTV has done multiple studies on what their viewers want. The information found has been taken and used to form the MTV we have today. It is full of other projects that have made MTV very successful.
The use of media and popular culture is a sociological phenomenon wherein the structural changes to society, which accompany the emergence of new forms of communication and accessing information, can be examined. There are many differing views regarding whether media and popular culture are necessary to the functioning of a democratic and egalitarian society or whether they actually further social inequality and inhibit political discussion or involvement. Although both interpretations are arguably valid, it can be seen that it is not popular culture and the media in and of themselves but rather how they are consumed by the public that determine how these mediums influence individuals and by extension the wider society.
Before television existed people had to depend on Radio stations to receive their little bit of entertainment and news. But in 1878, the invention of TV began. The first TV made didn’t look anything like the way TV’s look today. It was a mechanical camera with a large spinning disc attached to it (Kids Work). But as over the years, of course, inventions of different TV’s progressed and by the 20th century about 90 percent of our population had a TV in their household (MGHR). Television today is mainly used for people take a break from their life by relaxing and enjoying some entertainment.
We have seen culture changes during the course of many centuries. These decades has left us memories of what was important to our society during this time. In some cases, we are still living by these same standards of past centuries and the results of these beliefs is the reflection of the people of this twenty century. The coauthors of Common Culture Reading and Writing About Popular Culture Michael Petracca and Madeleine Sorapure on their Seventh Edition says, “pop culture is the shared knowledge and practices of a specific group at a specific time. Media and popular culture have changed daraslty over time and from country to country, but the effect it has on people’s perception of war and gender has always been strong. Media, journalism, and popular culture portrays the relationship between war and gender in their cultures ideal manifestation. This often differs from people’s individual experience of war.
