Dad - Original Writing "Hurry up Mark," called Jan, "Paul will be here in a minute." The usual Friday-night scrimmage to get Mark ready for his weekend visit with his Dad was nearly over. "Did you pack my England shirt Mum?" he shouted from the bedroom. "Yes, and I have packed the England flag too." Jan answered. "What are you doing now?" she enquired. "I'm just doing my hair." he yelled back. "Ah, that reminds me, I've also packed a can of red hair spray. Will Jo have time to do it for you tomorrow?" Jan checked. England was playing in the Rugby World Cup Final against Australia and Mark was watching it with his Dad and his step-mum, Jo, at the Rugby Club. Mark wanted a red St George's cross sprayed in his hair. It was an early kick-off and they had a fair journey to get to the club on time. "Yeah, no problem, she'll have time," he replied hurtling down the stairs. As Paul pulled up outside the house he tooted the car horn. "He's here," relayed Jan. "So am I!" Mark answered with a grin. Jan gave him a hug. "Have an excellent weekend, love," she called after him as he raced outside to greet Paul. "And you Mum. See you Sunday afternoon, bye," he replied with a wave. Jan smiled wistfully to herself, wishing that she could share the excitement of tomorrow morning with Mark herself. After all it wasn't often that England made it to the final, and Mark did love his rugby. Never mind, she thought to herself, it's a good thing that Mark now knows his Dad and can spend some time with him after all these years. Mark had only met his Dad just over a year ago. * * * Jan had fallen pregnant with Mark after dating Paul for only a few months. She had decided to have the baby, even though Paul wasn't ready for settling down. It had been a big decision, and some would

We have all grown up hearing our parent's advice "Do as I say, not as I do". When your parents give this advice you do not always listen at first, but later on in life you may catch yourself using it. I believe it is very important value, respect and listen to what your parent's say; their experience with life is their major tool in shaping their children into adults.

“Yeah dad along with the rest of Manchester” Brian replied back. he hated Mondays, he hated getting up early, getting dressed early, having breakfast early, going to school early, basically anything that’s early, he hated it all. “I want to hear the five magic words Brian,” he heard his dad, much quieter this time “I’m...out...of...bed...dad” he tried to shout back at the same time trying to squeeze in to his trousers. It had been ages since he had grown out of them and his school bag looked like it was passed from his great grandfather.
I didn't know how to feel after my father's left leg was amputated. It sent chills down my spine seeing his stub for the first time after surgery. I wondered how he felt to not be able to feel and wiggle his toes. I watched my father struggle to overcome this new lifestyle change. things he once did before with ease now caused him immense pain. simple task such as getting a glass of water, cleaning up and just moving in general were now much harder for him but he overcame these struggles by never giving up. he taught me that strength can only be achieve if you have the perseverance and drive to overcome the obstacles in your way.
The short-story “A Conversation with My Father”, by Grace Paley, combines several themes and the author uses the elements of abandonment, denial, irony, humor and foreshadowing, to bring this emotional story together. This story is mainly about the relationship between a parent and his child. The primary characters are a father, and his child. There is no mention of whether the child is his daughter or son. The tone of the story and the conversations made me believe that the old man has a daughter, and hence I will refer to the child as his daughter.
Dads are very important to his children wouldn’t you say? My dad is my rock he has always been there for me through everything. Even though I have disappointed him in many kinds of ways he will always make sure to look over the things that I did wrong and always look at my good. My dad has influenced me in important ways, by teaching me self-reliance, and just teaching me the main things on how to be a good person.

From the minute I was born, dad was the first person to hold me in his bare arms. Dad has always been there for me, through the rough and tough times. When I cry in pain, he comes running, and I feel that pain inside of him. I can never explain how much passion and love I have for Dad. He is a person no one on this planet can replace because of the great dad he is. I remember him telling a story, and the split second when he finished the beginning of it, tears starting to roll down my cheeks, like the never-ending Niagara Falls. Dad never had a superb life growing up.
When engaging with fatherless youth in the helping profession, there are few legal boundaries to navigate. The issue itself has become so ordinary that many have neglected to consider its negative ramifications. According to Rev. Abigail Cyr, a former youth pastor and current senior pastor: “Just because it is common, do not underestimate the wounds teens are carrying if fathers are absent in their lives. Understand that the abandonment and identity issues run deep and be willing to go the long haul with them to help them establish trust and find healing in Christ” (Interview). Absent fathers cause a host of problems that do require legal action. If the mother and father of the adolescent are divorced, the father must work within the legal
