College Admission: Your Ideal Roommate
I think I'd want someone who was really intelligent and was after the meaning of life. Someone who'd had insights that I hadn't who could really bounce ideas back at me in a conversation. Someone who wasn't afraid to break with the norm and who didn't care if he was a 'nerd'. Someone with a subtle wit that most people would need to think to laugh at, but who could appreciate and indulge in obvious humor and silliness. Someone whose musical tastes were all across the board, and who didn't really care whether his tastes were considered overly popular or even overly eclectic. Someone who was conscious enough of his own mind to catch himself doing something out of insecurity or the need to please, or arguing for his own idea without heed to holes that had been cut in it. Who, in that situation had finally learned to throw aside an injured ego to embrace objectivity. And of course, as I knew I would, I am describing a clone of myself.
I think I would be exhilarated to meet this clone, I think if he were male we would be immediate best friends, and if she were female we would be lovers. In the end however, I would not be as close with this person as with someone with more differences, whose sense of humor was different, or whose taste in music was very centered. The clone and I would immediately tell each other everything, and in that way achieve a sort of superficial closeness, the closeness of not having to have worked to get close, and not having to have dragged out details and

Tornadoes, also called twisters or cyclones, are a localized, violently destructive windstorm occurring over land, and characterized by a long, funnel-shaped cloud extending toward the ground and made visible by condensation and debris. They come in many different shapes and sizes, but are typical in a funnel formation, where the narrow end makes contact with the earth. Most don’t reach winds over 110 miles per hour (177 km/h) or have a path wider than 250 feet (76m), and most only travel a few miles on ground before dissipating. Although, some can reach winds as high as 300 miles per hour (483 km/h) or higher, have a path that can be as wide as two miles (3.2 km) or more, and can travel for dozens of miles on the ground before dissipating.
Leadership can be defined as the way through which one individual has impacts and influences the attitudes and behavior of other people at a workplace. The tasks of leaders in corporations include organizational as well as departmental activities. Leaders are responsible fr coordination of these activities so as to reach the goals successfully by motivating and inspiring team members. (DUYGULU, Ethem and Ciraklar, Nurcan, 2008). Besides, leaders are supposed to resolve issues by avoiding conflicting situations related to work and strive to boost progress on achieving the overall objectives of a company. Moreover, great leaders provide the required knowledge,
“Personality begins where comparison ends- Karl Lagerfeld © 2011.” This quote is a foreshadow for what is to follow, for a 100 freshman residents and their Residence Assistant. Not all roommates will be your best friends but not all will be your enemy. It is important to know during your young adult life, which types of people are compatible for your personality to ensure a smooth and fun living experience.
Wouldn’t it be weird if a child were to grow up knowing that her mother is her sister, her grandmother is her mother, and her father was her brother-in-law? This can cause several emotional risks although this type of genetic selection may cause many sever risks. Every time her mother is to look at her, what she sees is herself growing up. There is a lot of emotional pressure on a teenager who is trying to establish his/her identity. What if everyone was to clone? What would happen to our individuality?. Cloning limits your genetic base because there are not enough individuals that would be the base of inherited material for the population. It would also stop the genetic progress since there is no combining of the genetic material and thus no opportunity to produce an animal that is superior to the parent. What if the child knows that he/she is the clone and now the identical twin of a dead sister/brother? What kind of pressure do you think that would put on the child, knowing they were made as a direct replacement for another? This child will not be the same in all ways as the other was, regardless of what the parents were hoping. One important concern is because this child will be brought up in an unusual household where unhappiness has been diverted into making a clone of the dead brother/sister instead of just adjusting to their loss. Now this child will be going through great pressures on his/her emotional...
To start, it is important to understand what cloning is and the process that makes it possible. As defined by Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, cloning is “one that appears to be a copy of an original form” (233). In layman’s terms, human cloning is using medical procedures to make an exact genetic copy of an already existing or previously existing person. The process for cloning entails a method called Somatic cell nuclear transfer, or SCNT. According to The University of Utah’s Genetic Science Learning Center the way SCNT is performed is “an egg cell's single set of chromosomes is removed. It is replaced by the nucleus from a somatic cell, which already contains two complete sets of chromosomes” (Genetic). Now that the egg has a complete DNA configuration, it is allowed to grow and the being that is engendered is a clone. Though the original human and the clone will have the same genome, they will not be exactly the same person. As Wray Herbert points out, there will be differences in personality an...
... the clone lives and if clones got to be very widespread they could potentially impact the gene pool. Needless to say, the cons definitely outweigh the pros and the impact clones would have on the everyday life of society would not be our greatest worry.
Sexual assault is a crime; it is, specifically in your first 2 years of college. The result of being sexually assaulted can be physically, emotionally any sexual act that is perpetrated against someone’s will. Rape, sexual abuse, unwanted touching, or forceful sexual intercourse, are all considered sexual assault. Sexual assault takes place everywhere but mostly on campuses. Although men can also be sexually assaulted, statistics show 99% of men are the perpetrators (Campus Safety). Some of the major contributions of rape are alcohol and drug use, men that play aggressive sports are more likely to be sexually aggressive toward females and being sexually assaulted before increases your chances of being assaulted
Alcohol is a dominant tool that controls the human’s body when it takes over its major systems. In addition, alcohol has a huge impact on people’s behaviors so that their behaviors go out of their control and could lead to things rather more serious.
Would clones understand themselves as creations or copies? Would cloning undermine the conception of a human being’s individuality? (Medicines’ Brave New World) Those are two of the most questioned aspects of human cloning. Everyone always wants to be their own person and have their own thought, basically, be as original as they can be. How original can you get when there’s someone out there thinking, doing, and looking exactly like you? Not very original, if you ask me. Human cloning, cloning of any kind, has been looked at as being creepy, scary, immoral, and in the most dismal way, exciting. Cloning of humans should be prohibited because it is offensive to the human life and religion.
When people think of rape, they might think of a stranger jumping out of a shadowy place and sexually attacking someone. But in fact there different forms of sexual assault. Acquaintance Rape also known as date rape, is one of the most common among female adolescents and college students. About 60% of all reported rapes are committed by someone the victim knew. Rape is a crime of violence, and you can be arrested, prosecuted and properly punished by the law.
Assessment tools can be a good start for individuals to assess their leadership characteristics and skills, such as Grossman and Valiga’s Leadership Characteristcs and Skills Assessment (Grossman and Valiga, 2013). These tools may be helpful but its accuracy is questionable. The assessment can overestimate or underestimate an individual’s skills since it is a self-subjective administered assessment that is biased towards the taker. An overconfident person may perceive their skills highly and an under confident person may have low results.
The leadership is a privilege and it is such a privilege and an honor which will carry the tremendous responsibility which will inspire others to direct them to accomplish goals and vision of the organization. Leadership is about influencing the people, by producing direction, purpose and motivating in order to accomplish the mission, vision and improving the organization. The leadership philosophy is evolved based on the experiences, both positive and negative, in most of the initiatives and activities that we undertake. It is also one among the collaboration and teamwork within which the team members can utilize each other’s strengths to counter the weaknesses of the individuals. By observing, introspecting and experimenting we can developed a leadership paradigm which is inclusive, collaborative and proactive. We can develop the ability to recognize which will approach in order to reach the productive conclusion. The great leaders know their limitations and are capable at utilize their strengths and also the strengths of others to compensate.
