The Gift of Writing
If writing is a gift, then how come so few people use that gift to their adavantage? In other words, why do people not use it? The greatest purpose of writing is not entertaining, educating, or enlightening others, but rather, the greatest purpose of writing, or the best way to utilize one's writing skills, is to better understand another person; to put yourself in that other person's shoes.
Allow me to assume, for a moment, that you are a Christian, or are a follower of Christianity. Often times, those who call themselves believers of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit mock those who do not necessarily follow what they believe. For instance, in early February, I happened to be an unfortunate spectator of a sight I shall not soon forget. Only one block, probably shorter than that even, from the National Cathedral (Episcopalian) in Washington D.C., I saw two teens, who were dressed up in their church clothes. Coming toward them was what appeared to be a Satanic person, he was dressed in all black, had his hear dyed red, and a picture of Satan "graced" his shirt. The two teens, on their way to church apparently, immediately proceeded to mock the person with demeaning and offensive names, and pebbles.
Now try to put yourself in that other person's shoes. Yes, you may strongly dislike what that person believes in, but there is always a reason behind the beliefs of a person. Try to imagine how that person feels. It is kind of hard to visualize, isn't it? I mean, society advocates putting yourself into another's shoes, but it's still very hard to do. For one thing, our natural baises keep us from doing so. For another, you may not want to even be in another's shoes.
However, this is where writing can help. If you are Christian, write a story where the Satanist, Pagan, Wiccan, etc. is the protagonist, and vice versa. If you are anti-homosexual, write a story about a homosexual. And if you are a communist, write a story about a person who advocates the American form of democracy, or a derivation thereof.
Admittedly, it is still very had to do. Not the visualizing part, but the actual writing part. If one is strongly against Christianity, for example, it's going to be very hard to write a story about a true Christian. Or, if you are a Christian, it may be hard to write about a person who prays to many gods.
Unlike the younger hunter, Phenix was old enough to control his high metabolism, to pace the rate at which his body burned through fuel, but after the change, he too needed to eat.
In conclusion writing helps me communicate with others in different ways. Writing is a remarkable form of communication, because it lets me acknowledge my identity through my living experience. It also helps me connect and communicate with my loved ones living abroad. Finally writing lets me touch hearts by composing musical lyrics.
...ould not be produced to the best of their ability. And why they were writing also had no bounds. Their purpose could be anything, writing a sequel, or an article; anything that is, makes writing so unique and broad. No matter how good a writer one may be, there are still a fair number of obstacles one must overcome in order to find success every time one attempts to write.
Writing helps you to dig into your heart. Writing will help you to find your life’s true purpose. Writing helps you to Let go the stress.
Writing improves one’s ability to ask useful questions (Nowacek). Some say that there are no “unintelligent” questions. While this is true, it is always a helpful skill to be able to ask the question well. In addition, writing skills expand an individual’s horizons, allowing him to discover new things and question their existence.
Writing can be a very difficult process for those who do not know how to go about constructing
The hallways always seemed to have a chill around this place. The cold, crisp, and synthetic air the roamed through the interior of the Venator Class cruiser (fig. 1) felt better than naturally produced oxygen of a planet. Too hundreds of thousands of clone soldiers, Venator Class cruisers were home. After being in countless battles, the cruiser known as The Providence had become a well-known vessel amongst the outer rim territories. This cruiser was what CT-2532 called home. CT-2532 was just his rank number, he preferred to be called Jex.
Writing and reading are two essential skills that we need to have in order to succeed in any field of study that we have chosen. Without these two we would not be here, wouldn’t be writing right now and would be considered the lowest class of our society. There are different aspects of writing that each of us may, or may not, excel at. Some of us are creative enough to write short stories or even novels on fiction while others, like me, are better at writing essays. To accomplish this we have all had a person to inspire us, to drive us, to get us over the hump of confidence that we need to succeed. Still to be successful we need to count on ourselves to succeed.

For centuries, views of the world and its inhabitants have been expressed through various ways of art or philosophy. These views can often be related to the seeking of truth to the creation of life, politics, or the problems of the world from before, now, and after. Accordingly, it is by paintings, books, or music, that words or images have an abundant effect on people. Society indicates that knowledge is power, so then why are we sometimes burdened with the errors of generations before? The quote, “writing in English is the most ingenious torture ever devised for sins committed in previous lives. The English reading public explains the reason why,” by James Joyce; points out that any novelist, historian, or author writing about our previous failures as humans in history affects any reader in a way that brings up painful memories and leaves the reader with past knowledge. To be honest, I had to grab a chair and think for what seemed like hours before I could actually comprehend what the quote was saying. I thought to myself, “How can writing about the past bring pain to the reader? I understood how writing can bring knowledge to a person, but how can it affect anything in the present?” As Vladimir Nabokov said, “In reading, one should notice and fondle details.” So, I opened up my mind and started to analyze the quote. Then, suddenly it clicked! In The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli, Machiavelli has a similar style to this quote in which he explains that any prince should not select anything else for study but the art of war. He declares through studying the histories of the art of war, “A prince will learn of many illustrious men’s causes for victory or defeat; therefore, avoiding the latter and imitating the former.”(Machiavell...
People write for many reasons. They write to educate, , and to entertain to express
My job is not to rip you away from your beliefs. You believe in what you want to believe in. Do not let anyone take that away from you. My job is to get people to look at things in another’s perspective. I am choosing to compare and contrast Christianity and all its forms with Satanism. Is Christianity really all that good? Is Satanism really all that bad? Why do we even still have religion? How does religion affect people’s choices and thoughts? Let’s imagine a world where family and region doesn’t affect your choice in religion or let’s imagine a world without religion. How would the world be? Will it be better or worse?
Writing is an art, you put your black and white words on a paper and readers collects colorful images on their mind. Everyone has their own definitions or purposes when it comes to writing. Some do it because they want to and others do it because they must. I write for both purposes. Writing is my tool to communicate and it gives me a platform to express my emotions.
I personally do not enjoy writing like most people would feel about reading a dictionary. I am cautiously treading water with every word I type. I have always found writing to be a tedious process. I have never found ease in wording something the way I want to; therefore, it usually sounds so much better in my head. I’ve never considered myself to be comfortable with writing in general. For example, I always had a hard time telling if I needed a comma in a sentence or not. Sometimes it was obvious, but it seems more confusing most of the time.
“Man is an animal that lives in language as a fish lives in water and so written communication is just one of the ways that man can survive through” (English scholar Annie Dillard). Writing is a skill to give information. Like all skills, it is not inborn and so it needs to be learnt. To give information you need good communication skills including the ability to write simply, clearly and concisely (Harris & Cunningham, 1996).
