The Internet has been invented in the nineteen seventies
by the U.S. Department of Defense. Large amounts of secret information
were spread over thousands of computers instead of using only one, out
of security reasons. From then on the Internet developed further and
further into the worldwide network it is today. Across the globe
millions of people are connected to the Internet and use it to share
information and communicate. It is used in business, education,
journalism and in many more places. The Internet has brought lots of
good. People can send messages, letters, documents, pictures, and even
sound to anyone around the world. Every individual can put his or her
ideas on the Net and they are available to whoever wants to read them. Corporations can send orders and pay
checks with the one single click with the mouse. But despite the many
advantages the Internet has given us, it also brought some serious
disadvantages with it.
One very important disadvantage of the Internet is that it is
addictive. This is so serious that it is considered to be a real
disease. Psychologists speak of the Internet Addiction Syndrome (IAS).
Internet addicts use the Internet to escape from problems of everyday
life. Serious cases report of people staying online for six to ten, or
more hours a day. They feel anxious or irritable when offline, and
often have a disturbed relationship with friends or relatives. There
are some help offering sites on Net, which is quite ironic of course.
According to one of those sites, netaddiction.com, there are five
different types of addiction:
* Cyber-Sexual Addiction - Individuals who suffer from Cyber sexual
addiction typically are either engaged in viewing, downloading,
and trading online pornography or involved in adult fantasy
role-play chat rooms.
* Cyber-Relational Addiction - Individuals who suffer from Chat Room
Addiction become over-involved in online relationships or may
engage in virtual adultery.
The computer has had a tremendous impact on society as we know it. It gives a voice to those who cannot speak and those who cannot breathe on their own receive mechanically computerized help. The computer has given us many wonderful things used for wonderful purposes, but there are vast ways in which these things have been misused by our people. One of these things is the internet and a common way it is misused is by way of plagiarism.

The Internet - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The internet is a computer-based global information system. It is composed of many interconnected computer networks. Each network may link thousands of computers, enabling them to share information.
The new age of technology was born late last century in the form of the silicone chip. Since this early invention computers have progressed in leaps and bounds from the very basic early models to the now very complicated and very powerful computers of today. In between this growth the Internet developed into a mega market where billions of dollars are traded daily. It is a place where you can pretty much buy and sell anything you can think of. But with the development of such a powerful tool there are always going to be problems such as pornography, hackers, dodgy chat rooms and authenticity of information. But like with any argument you have to weigh up the good with the bad, the internet provides you with a wealth of information so that you can find out much on many different products, allows businesses to function so much more efficiently, there is also the availability of online learning.
The internet as we all know is probably the most useful resource known to man in this day of age. Not only is the internet easy to access its easy to use. Nearly everyone owns a computer and nearly all of which have access to the internet. But isn't that a good thing? Millions of people having the ability to access and share all the information anybody could ever want.
“People are very reluctant to talk about their private lives but then you go to the Internet and they’re much more open (Internet Quotes).” Paulo Coelho mentioned this on the topic of meeting strangers online. In a society so dependent on electronic communication, children are only accepted by making online connections. This means they will go to great lengths to have large numbers of people watching them on social media; adults tend to do the same. Children learn by observing our behavior. Acting as if a day without an online connection will ruin our civilization would corrupt the child’s mind, thus making them think the Internet is the most vital object. Of course, there are dangers when one allows a child onto the web. Without proper education on the dangers in the online world, children may fall into a trap and become potential victims. In order to have a well-rounded youth, parents must express healthy role modeling by teaching them how to identify dangerous interactions and carefully monitoring the web history to protect children from online threats.
From my perspective, Nicholas Carr’s argument that the internet appears to be decreasing his capacity for concentration and contemplation does apply to my generation’s internet natives. Generation Z, my generation, has an innumerable amount of internet natives who are perfect examples of Carr’s argument against the internet. My generation, who will be the leaders of the world, are losing their mental capacity because of the frequent use of electronics but especially the World Wide Web. Approximately twenty percent of children from ages eight to sixteen have a computer in their bedroom, and fifty four percent have internet access. Unfortunately, Carr’s argument applies to my generation’s web natives because they are engrossed in the web for twenty-four hours and seven days a week which leads to a plethora of them being sidetracked while doing their activities, unable to focus and reflect on many ideas, and their way of thinking is being modified.
The impact of the Internet, that is, the computer and its email and World Wide Web functions, have changed teaching, research, and collegiality. The Internet expands our horizons, our imaginations, and our capacities to find, store, organize, use, teach, and publish information. E-mail provides fast, almost instantaneous, communication with libraries, archives, and colleagues all across the globe, and with administrators at one's own university or elsewhere.
From the moment one wakes up to the moment they go to sleep encounters with the internet or technology are inventible, that is unless you are Amish. The use of the internet and phones varies from work, school, and research to social media, messaging, group chats, and gaming. Due to the vast advancements made in technology, most cell phones come equipped with internet so now the internet and cell phones coincide. Although the internet and new technology have created some negative effects, including concerns with how information is used, one simply cannot ignore the positive effects such as an increase in efficiency and productivity and ease of communication.
The internet is a vast network of computers that connects many of the world’s businesses, institutions, and individuals. It allows millions of people throughout the world to send and receive messages to each other, share information, and play games (Naughton 4). It was initially designed to aid the government and help people expand academically, but it is now becoming more commercialized and used in ways that it was not made for.
Technology is progressing very rapidly, and is hurting today’s society. People are abusing the uses of technology. The Internet, which first begun in the mid-1970s, has made huge impact on our generation today. It has its benefits such as brain cell research and the cure for Cancer. People are abusing its uses. Online shopping, playing games, and social media are just some of the ways people abuse technology. Although technology has done great things for society such as medical research, it also gives society a way to isolate themselves by having access to virtually anything, with the touch of a mouse.
General Paper: What Use Is The Internet? The internet is the world's largest, globally inter-linked network of computer systems. It allows users to transmit and receive data digitally, across the telephone network system. This concept of data transmission on a world-wide scale, has opened the doors to a vast range of possibilities for this data sharing capability.
The objective of this essay is to compare Internet research with other sources of information which include books, word of mouth and primary research. This paper will also look at ways of ascertaining the validity of research information for academic work.
Disadvantages of the Internet There are certain cons and dangers relating to the use of Internet that can be summarized as: Personal Information: If you use the Internet, your personal information such as your name, address, etc. can be accessed by other people. If you use a credit card to shop online, then your credit card information can also be ‘stolen’ which could be akin to giving someone a blank check. Pornography: This is a very serious issue concerning the Internet, especially when it comes to young children. There are thousands of pornographic sites on the Internet that can be easily found and can be a detriment to letting children use the Internet. Spamming: This refers to sending unsolicited e-mails in bulk, which serve no purpose and unnecessarily clog up the entire system. If you come across any illegal activity on the Internet, such as child pornography or even spammers, then you should report these people and their activities so that they can be controlled and other people deterred from carrying them out. Child pornography can be reported to: Your Internet service provider Local police station Cyber Angels (program to report cyber crime) Such illegal activities are frustrating for all Internet users, and so instead of just ignoring it, we should make an effort to try and stop these activities so that using the Internet can become that much safer. That said, the advantages of the Internet far outweigh the disadvantages, and millions of people each day benefit from using the Internet for work and for pleasure. 2°) The disadvantages of internet Marketing You can leave the businessman feeling isolated. We can say that the information is Overloaded. We can also talk about the flexibility of the internet marketing with the promotion companies on the Internet who can easily change and get the right direction as soon as the company starts working. If you wanted to get information any other way from these countries, you may end up having to go there.
The internet has influenced, and is still influencing the way society communicates in many different ways. The rise of the internet has caused people to communicate differently in areas never dreamed of before the internet came into existence. Education has been revolutionized through the world of the “Information Super Highway”. Medicine has also seen reform as the internet improves research and communication. Individuals are starting businesses from scratch, while others are selling household items for extra cash. This internet “typhoon” sweeping the globe has become a way of life for many individuals all across the globe.
