Local and National Provision For Golf
There is much potential for any junior who wishes to take up golf in
Dubai, as there are many championship golf courses such as The Dubai
Creek Golf and Yacht Club and Emirates Golf club, who highly encourage
the development of junior golfers, from beginners at grass root level
to amateur/professionals.
The development of junior golf is highly encouraged through the golf
clubs of Dubai themselves and through schemes such as "The Junior
Development Programme", JDP. Which is a division of the UGA or U.A.E
Golf Association. Through the JDP juniors receive lessons from top
golf professionals and automatic entrance to many organised
tournaments throughout the different challenging courses of Dubai, for
a small fee, although many tournaments have sponsors to help with the
financial side of the organisation of these tournaments.
From the junior golfers below 16 who participate in the JDP a team of
8 is selected to be in the UAE junior team, which tour other
countries. This inspires juniors to practice and get their handicaps
as low as possible in knowing that they could be selected for the UAE
junior team. However being in an Arab country the team must consist of
5 UAE nationals. Leaving only space for 3 expatriates.
However not only junior golf is an aim of development for the UGA. The
improvement of adults and beginners to some of the best amateurs in
the UAE is also a major focus.
In the UK there is a similar governing body to the UGA called the PGA
or Professional Golfers Association. The PGA is much bigger then the
UGA, and the American system is similar to the PGA and called the
USGA, and is pretty much on the same scale. The PGA also has a
separate division called the LPGA, Ladies Professional Golfers
Association. In Dubai there is no such NGB but ladies, juniors and men
are all tied into the UGA. If the demand for lady golfers grew to the
same scale as in England then there may be a separate governing body,
In the second year of business at Golf Challenge Corporation the company is struggling. The cost of their inventory is rising, and they are in grave danger of losing their bank loan (their prime source of financing) due to not meeting the required financial ratios agreed and set forth by the bank at the time the loan was given. The owner comes up with a solution, and figures that instead of using Last in-First out (LIFO) the company can use First in-First Out inventory cost system (FIFO) and meet their required financial ratios set forth by the bank. Ultimately, Golf Challenge Corporation should not submit documents to the bank using FIFO as opposed to their previous system LIFO in order to meet the bank requirements
6AM. A young man wakes up, showers, and eats breakfast. He then continues to his bedroom, embellishing himself in the simple yet characteristic mixture of white and khaki. He continues to his place of employment, breathing the soft scent of elm and grass. Within the caddie must lay the characteristics of a well-rounded, young adult, embodying the work ethic of those most inspiring before him. Charles “Chick” Evans, who once was a caddy and worldly renowned golfer, appreciates the fine young adults that have endured the morning wakeup call everyday in the summer. To whom that are applicable can ultimately be awarded the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship. Named after Chick Evans himself because he dropped out of college in 1912 for lack of money, the scholarship is funded by donations from golfers and the proceeds of an annual professional tournament (Spears, 1995). Although Chick Evans has passed away many years ago, his legacy still lives on through the 825 scholars currently enrolled in 19 universities all across the United States. Chick Evans has made a profound have impact on the golf community and caddies looking for a way to pay for college.
I will briefly trace the history that led to the creation of the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) as described by Joan Hult in 'The Story of Women's Athletics: Manipulating a Dream 1890-1985,' and then examine some of the pros and cons of the AIAW's 1981 merger with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
NCAA President Mark Emmert may think that this still stands for the organization he oversees, but it is well known things have changed inside the world of the NCAA over the years. The NCAA March Madness Basketball Tournament generates over $770 million in just the TV rights alone (Nocera 2011). What makes this tournament such a spectacle, is the great athletes that people, from all over, travel to see. Yet, these athletes reap none of the benefits from this. The NCAA is hypocritical, when speaking about amateurism playing a part in the athletes not deserving compensation, because they continue to sell game merchandise, game footage, and even memorabilia posters that forever have the faces of their stars on them. All of these provide a form
In 1905, the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) was founded by President Roosevelt to help establish rules that would help cut down on the rising amount of sports injuries and deaths that were occurring. Ever since the beginning of the NCAA, it has been classified as a non-profit organization and all the money the company makes goes back into paying the employees and improving the organization. This includes the equipment the players use, researching for better safety, employing new people to help expand the organization to new sports, etc (Investing). People are starting to think that the NCAA should re-evaluate how they are spending their money and that they should begin to
Throughout the history of female athletics merging with male sports organizations has not always been a pleasant experience. In 1982 the AIAW merged with the NCAA, despite the NCAA fighting tooth and nail to try and find ways out of Title IX, an act of Congress that required Universities to provide equal funding for women's athletics. The NCAA did everything they could to stop the equal funding but finally gave in during the 1990's. Right now the NCAA embraces its women's sports programs and has had many women represented on the executive committee roster and even has a committee on women's athletics. Also, the NCAA has worked out television contracts with ESPN, FOX sports and CBS. This has lead to not only coverage of women's sports but publicity. Women's games are talked about on Sports Center and College Hoops Tonight everyday during the season.
From its initial existence R&D and innovative products had been the lifeline of CGC. When Callaway bought into the company his first initiative was to develop original products. Innovation and superior performing products are important in golf because equipment is thought to have a significant impact on player performance. Moreover, innovation was important because CGC had to be the technological leader to sell its products at premium price and continue to exceed customer expectations. The industry was also characterized as being driven by new product development because manufacturers were trying to bet each other to the next "best club" so CGC had to manufacture products that were differentiated from its own existing products as well as those of its competitors.
The all around controversy stipulated by the club stirs up the emotions of golf buffs through highly sought after membership and obsessive rules.
...British Open allowed amateurs to join in 1861 (Fossum). The first male golfer to become a professional was Allan Robertson (Dorbian). He didn’t win many tournaments but was still a great golfer that was the first. Mary Queen also had a golf game along with ruling as a queen. She was the first woman to officially play the sport as a girl. Many men and women took part in the sport but only two people were the first to play it.

Many great golf players use golf psychology to help them win major tournaments. They knew they were very talented, but needed to score a little bit better and become more consistent to achieve an elite level. Buying more expensive equipment was not the secret and neither was practicing to the point of sheer exhaustion. It has to do with the proven scientific discipline of psychology and changing your way of thinking. It helps you over come the pressure associated with tournament play and coping with a constant barrage of questions from fans and the media. It only takes a short time to change your thinking so you can start winning.
Golf. A sport that started out with just a wooden stick and ball, is now a very well know game by many people all around the globe. The sport that also just started out as a way to mess around has become a job for some of the people and is making some golfers millions of dollars each year. A sport that many people spend their whole lives playing or watching used to not be exactly what is today. Even though golf is a very well known sport now, golf has been around for hundreds of years and is played by people all over the world. The sport of golf has been dated all the way back to years before 1,000 and has kept growing exponentially ever since. According to the International Golf Federation, they have 144 different countries a part of the organization, leaving out 51. The game of golf is played at many different levels all the way from junior tournaments, all the way to professional events. The evolution of the sport of golf is made up of a couple main things. These two main things are how golf got its start, and what has changed about the game.
The difference in the two sports that the athletes played (basketball and golf) is quite a big one. In basketball, the object of the game is if you are on offense you want to put the ball into the round hoop while you are being guarded by opposing players and you have a boundary you have to stay in. If you are on defense, you want to prevent the offense from scoring into the hoop and if a shot is made, you throw the ball from out of bounds and then you are on offense. In golf, you are not on a team you are playing for your own
Golf tourism is spreading rapidly all over the world in places like Asia and Mexico. Although most people who play the sport of golf play because of its interaction with nature, what most golfers do not realize or consider is the damaging environmental impact on the sport. The booming golf trade throughout the world creates a haven for golfers and a nightmare for environmentalists. According to members of the Malaysia-Based Asia-Pacific People’s Environment Network, golf development is becoming one of the most unsustainable and damaging activities to people and the environment (TED Case Studies, 1997).
