Video Games and the Related Sort
Humans have used entertainment as a way to escape reality for a very long time. Recently, a new form of entertainment has been introduced. Video games are this new entertainment, and it has been made in such a way that all who play them can enjoy them.
The very first true video game was a game called “Tennis For Two”, which was released in 1958 (Time, 1). It was a game that would now be considered related to “Pong”, but that comes later. The way it was played was two people would sit behind a screen and play each other in a virtual tennis game. The next major step in video gaming was when “Pong” was released in 1975 for home TV’s (Time, 3), by Atari Incorporated as a way to get their name into the video game industry. Upon release, it was widely popular due to “Pong” being a one of a kind. Atari once again shook up the gaming world when they released their “Atari 2600” (Time, 4). It was the world’s first popular video game console, meaning that you were able to play different video games on one system, and you only had to pay for the console and games one time, meaning you could keep playing over and over. The next actual major console was the “Nintendo Entertainment System”, or “NES”, which was released to the public in 1985, later becoming a best-selling system in no time (Time, 6). On the “NES”, many of the most popular franchises today were born, such as Super Mario Brothers, Metroid, and The Legend of Zelda. A few years after the “NES” was released, Nintendo Entertainment released the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, or “SNES” (Time, 9). They can also program the game engine to help the game designer in making the game have visuals. Designers are the people that are widely associated with making video games. They are the ones that make the models for the characters, they create the levels, and sometimes they even help create the stories. Most developers were designers before they became developers.
Video games are not just something that only kids only play for fun. There is something out there for everybody to play. It even created jobs for people and it generates a lot of money and shows no signs of going away. Video games are a source of entertainment now just as common and well-known as movies, if not even bigger.

Videogames are amazing they promote creativity, team-work and social interaction. Video games actually work to increase how good your eyesight is. One study done by scientist’s Daphne Bavelier and her team found that playing five to fifteen hours of action games (e.g., Call of Duty) a week increased how good the participants vision was in two ways "The first way is that they 're actually able to resolve small detail in the context of clutter… The other way that they are better is actually being able to resolve different levels of grey”. Sure games have violence in them but honestly what doesn’t, films and TV are chock full of it, heck even Tom and Jerry promote violence and animal abuse plus there is a reason that those big shiny red “18” stickers are put on games so that it is clearly shown that children aren 't supposed to be given access to these specific types of game. Video games first appeared in the early 1970's. It all started with a simple white ball bouncing back and fourth on the screen. In 1986, Nintendo introduced its first line of home video game consoles. With the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) on the market, the home video gaming industry surged and immediately became popular among children. Since then, not only have video games increased in popularity, but there have been vast improvements in graphics, game play, and forms of gaming. Today, video games have become the preferred choice of entertainment among children and teenagers. Research done in 1998 has shown that kids who own video games spend an average of 90 minutes a day playing them. Clearly the video gaming industry is a profitable one. With the increasing competition between gaming companies, the advancement of technology and content of games began to change. One of the most significant and concerning changes in gaming is graphics. With the improvements in graphics the content of the game became more and more detailed and realistic. Visually violent actions can now be displayed on the screen. Images of blood, flying body parts, and gore have been integrated into every aspect of today's video games. Gaming helps stimulate the brain and advances your problem solving abilities. There are disadvantages to gaming, which is true, but the amount of benefits outweigh them by far.

However, new research shows that video games can be used for therapeutic purposes, exercise, stress relievers, positive interactive learning, hand eye coordination, and different types of patient treatment for people all around the world.
Over the years gaming has become a widely popular aspect of our culture.
