Uniforms: Road To Congress

774 Words2 Pages

Your phone rings and its the school your child attends. They are calling to tell you

that your child got into another fight over the clothes they were wearing. He is suspended for 3

days, and is missing out on education. To think, all of this could be avoided if the school required

uniforms. High schools obviously should impose uniforms. There are three reasons. For one, it

reduces bullying. Furthermore it lessons the stress of student and parents. Lastly, it gives scholars

a sense of responsibility and discipline. Now a day, many high schools, both public and private,

require students to wear uniforms. However I think that all high schools must require uniforms

for students immediately.

Bullying is one of the biggest problems in schools, and one of the biggest causes

is the clothes the victim is wearing. It is as easy as wearing a no name brand shoe to get picked

on. These children all buy new clothes because they are getting bulled. They should be more

focused on academics rather then the newest trends.

A study at Oxford Brockes University attest to how uniforms reduce bullying. In

the study, teenagers said, Uniforms acted as a social leveler and reduced bullying. Uniforms

make students equal on an economic level. With uniforms, students from poor families dress the

same as students from rich families. This prevent envy and jealousy about their stylish clothes.

Youngsters also admitted that they were less likely to misbehave anywhere because their uniform

Uniforms often directly contribute to the reduction of bulling.” So why shouldn’t uniforms be

mandatory already?

creativity is simply illogical and ignorant. So the next time, you can get your school to have

uniform, you better take it. By the same token, we should even go to congress with this issue.

High school should require uniforms. To not have uniforms is just like taking away your child's

education! Would you want your child deprived of their education?
