Alcohol and drug abuse is a large problem today and many families struggle every day to break the chain of addiction. Although the fight is challenging, it is not impossible. Unfortunately, many individuals in recovery are only there as an alternative within the criminal justice system and after completion they revert to their previous lifestyles. However, there are individuals who want sobriety and need it for themselves and their families; this is why being an advocate of change by helping families that need extra support to promote a positive transformation is so important. According to a group interview of recovering addicts, it took “love, patience, courage, and support to pull them through.” (Group Interview, 2014). Many individuals in recovery have complex lifestyles that have enabled substance abuse or have weakened the possibility of recovery. This could be due to limited resources, legal issues, financial issues, medical problems, or something as simple as transportation and childcare. In order to provide what is needed, recovery programs should offer resources to assist with these complications and reduce the probability of relapse. Providing a Peer Support Center, in addition to basic recovery methods, will benefit the community by promoting educational and occupational success, influencing positive health and wellness, and encouraging family and individual growth while ultimately lowering poverty.
As with any success, helping individuals recognize and set their own goals is one key in recovery that can contribute to educational and occupational achievement. Within social assistance programs in Canada, there is a general split between social security programs and social and welfare services. Social security programs, which are the responsibility of all levels of government, deliver direct economic support in one way or another to individuals or families. Included in this category are programs such as family allowances, old age pensions and provincial and municipal social-assistance programs. Whereas Social and Welfare service programs, have been established
from the Wintel operating system used my dominant Microsoft. Costs of maintaining this difference have increased in comparison to those utilizing the competitive operating system. Software designers are not as enthused about writing programs to support Apple's operating system because of limited potential sales. The advantages that seem to come into Apple's laps are quickly removed because competitors are able to copy, steal, and share them. The one advantage that Apple possesses is its operating
