If one follows the right path, light over darkness, and believes in God he or she will be ultimately rewarded with paradise. Understanding the concept or idea of believing in God and following a righteous path is important to one’s ability to realize how one should do what’s right. Temptation is a sin that people have to deal with every day and must overcome to follow the path of good and not evil.
Understanding the concept of temptation is important to one’s ability to realize when one is being tempted and what is the right path to choose. For example, all people have to deal with temptations every single day, but what we choose to do about the temptations, shows what path we are on. It becomes clear that both Doctor Parnassus and the devil need one another in order to exist. The back and forth between both of them is a symbol of the constant struggle conflicting good versus evil and light versus darkness. The concept of good versus evil and whether one can exist without the other is a concept that has occurred often in the readings and films. This concept, good versus evil, can be visually symbolized on the Imaginarium with the black and white checkerboard pattern. The pattern on the mirror itself could show that evil and good need each other and that there is always a choice between the two. The Imaginarium mirror allows people to pass through and once inside their paradise or imagination, they must make a choice. The choice which they must make is basically a good versus evil choice that determines the fate of their soul.
