The turbulent history of education improvement in Alberta is one filled with the focus on factory needs, importance of Christianity, and now innovative new ideas based primarily on the students. An emphasis on agreeing with guidelines for education to focus primarily on the students will be evident throughout this essay. There are certain ideals in which education must focus on, especially when thinking about the future. This essay will promote certain aims on dealing with education and the best interest of the students. Certain questions will be concentrated on throughout this paper. Some possible questions are, can we help children to be up to date and knowledgeable about future technologies, how do we guide students to an easy transition of adulthood? The world around us is constantly changing and with it we must change. Do we provide the framework in which these students have the ability to adapt to changes? Foundations for which to guide these students through changes may not be fully present in Albertan education. The Inspiring Education Alberta document has three principles, which are appropriate aims of education to guide the needs of future students. These three principles aim to provide students with the ability to be engaged thinkers, ethical citizens, and entrepreneurial spirits. Engaged thinkers will focus on the ability to think critically, use technology to learn and various other ideas promoting learning. Building strong cooperation abilities, open-mindedness and respect will be some of the key aspects to creating an ethical citizen. An entrepreneurial spirit will be able to challenge the status quo and be adaptable in numerous circumstances. These aims are important to the education of future students.

These principles will also aid future students to adapt easily to change, which is important due to the constant transforming world. Enabling future students to understand and manipulate technologies is significant to their success because humans tend to revolve around gadgets. In order to encourage these aims, Alberta education should accept the principles in schools. “The need to know the capital of Florida died when my phone learned the answer. Rather, the students of tomorrow need to be able to think creatively: […] adapt to new challenges and innovate on the fly” this quote by a high school student, Anthony Chivetta, from Missouri, USA understands the importance and relevance of the principles discussed.
By keeping the old ways of teaching, students are never prepared for jobs that actually exist. Instead students are forced to learn the standard way and lose the ability to apply their prior knowledge to current jobs. Modernized teaching allows an individual to form a creative side of thinking. This is done by using technology, where individuals are able to explore and think of things in new ways never thought of before. Davidson discusses how the education system strictly focuses on preparing students for higher education rather than properly preparing them for jobs in their fields of interest. She

Building a solution, for education, off of my plan will help structure the educational systems in a unique learning way. Promoting my education system will hopefully make a difference, so people can see the changes that it will make into the future. The whole aspect of my plan is to install knowledge and teach wisdom while accepting students as who they are. This idea branches off of the two philosophers John Gatto and Alfred Whitehead. Their professional outlook on how education should be has allowed me to envision a better future for students for all ages. Smaller classes, but more classes for only a certain number of students to learn will be a must. Also, teaching students of all ages “things to know for the adult life” is a requirement. This will help glue what should be and what is to grow into a question of the past. My plan will create a growth of love for learning for the young generation. This will help all learn to grow and benefit oneself into their own unique ways. Also, this will make every student wake up with a smile while commuting to school and later into their
Alberta became a province of Canada in 1905. They joined into Confederation because of many reason. One of the big factors was because of the fur trading. Canada was in big demand of fur, therefore having Alberta join would add to their business. Another reason was because of Manifest Destiny, the construction of an inter-colonial railway between Canada and the Maritimes was necessary since all goods were being transported on American lines. The Grand Trunk Railway needed increased traffic on its line to avoid bankruptcy. Also, transcontinental railway uniting the Atlantic to the Pacific would have to be built to open up the West and to prevent a possible takeover by the United States. Railway construction however was extremely expensive. The only way to ensure its construction would be for all the colonies to unite and to contribute to its construction. All of these causes for Alberta and the other provinces to join Canada was to prevent America from taking over the continent.
If one needs a secure future, he/she has to attend college and attain a college degree to do so. College is doing a great job in educating the students about the particular subject, but is not doing so well to get them ready for their future jobs. To be able to sustain themselves in their field of work, students have to learn with more hands on activities, which will help them develop faster ways to be able to perform tasks, and make the least amount of mistakes. If the students do make mistakes, then they should learn from them rather than think negatively about making mistakes. Colleges should prepare students to deal intellectually with their future jobs by helping them providing with internships, and talking to them about importance of volunteering in our society, so students want to volunteer rather than forced to do so. Doing so will help improve our society’s condition because we will see more people helping each other rather than being selfish. Colleges should inform students about fraudulent cases that take place in the world on a daily basis, so the students could be better consumers. Colleges need to build programs for students which helps students with their critical thinking, and so that students could surround themselves with people who want to achieve similar goals in life. This will help students build a team, and help them be creators in life with their innovations. Doing so will
For generations prior to the European arrival, aboriginal people practiced a strict culture in their native land now known as Canada. However, the early settlers conveyed the notion that their lifestyle was upon the highest accomplishment of mankind. Aboriginal people were seen as savages and incompetent of surviving in modern society. In resolution, the Canadian government issued an aggressive school system in the 1880’s that would “culture” the Aboriginal children. This system was managed by churches, whose purpose was to educate the child by adapting them into the mainstream Canadian society. This nonetheless, became a very serious issue that questioned Canada’s democracy and the basic civil rights that came along with it. In addition, this destructive system left a long range of impacts. Residential schools undermined Aboriginal culture causing a profound displacement of aboriginal people even to this day.
With the fast advances in innovation, a significant number of today 's employments now require more than a high school education or trade skills. Achievement in the workforce is progressively characterized by the capacity to think fundamentally, control a PC, and to work cooperatively in a teaming domain. Today 's school training builds up these capacities, furnishing people with priceless business and individual aptitudes and information,
In these changing times one of the biggest aspects of society that should be updated on a regular basis is education. Changes in curriculum as well as methods of teaching need to be revised each and every year. With this idea came the idea of the Common Core State Standard which is currently being adopted by forty-four out of fifty states in the United States. This new rework is designed to help better prepare students for college, universities, and the work place. However, not everyone believes this is the right move education should be taking at this moment. Those in support state this is the best decision possible to teach the children of the 21st century. Others say the cause for the decline in the quality of education in the United States stems from other sociological factors not from how the system is currently being worked. Even more are concerned if schools will be ready for this new wave of change. Will Common Core be effective in helping prepare high school graduates for the future? Only time will tell if the Common Core Standards proves effective in further helping students be prepared for the future.
Education should provide young people with skills needed to build competency and wisdom to face the world and lead a harmonious life of coexistence in society. Much of this knowledge is derived from moral education. Moral education comprises of making us informed and reflective on important issues and being virtuous people. It is to be noted that career education is also necessary in our work-driven society. A true education should incorporate all of these aspects. Schooling should integrate moral development as well as economic advancement into school curriculums because interweaving academics and ethics is necessary for our society as a whole. After all, good students make good citizens.
A progressive approach to education in which students are valued is the most important foundation upon which a new system of public education must be built. Children should be encouraged to become self-motivated and flexible, while instilling a love of learning. Real world life and career skills must be taught at an early age and nurtured throughout development. Children should be given the freedom and resources to develop their skills and interests on their own. The goal of education must always be the well-being of the whole child, and the effects that those children will have on the future of society. With cooperation and an open-mind to new, progressive approaches, the world of tomorrow can be improved beyond anyone's greatest dreams.
Our world is changing gradually bringing these changes into people’s daily life styles; consequently, a person’s potential to embrace these challenges and revolutionize with them has become an important factor to analyze people’s way to prepare themselves for the future. According to Gilbert Valdez, educational technology, especially computers and computer-related peripherals, have grown tremendously and have permeated all areas of our lives. It is incomprehensible that anyone today would argue that banks, hospitals, or any industry should use less technology. Most young people cannot understand arguments that schools should limit technology use. For them, use of the Internet, for example, plays a major role in their relationships with their friends, their families, and their schools. Teens and their parents generally think that use of the Internet enhances the social life and academic work of teenagers. Nonetheless, not all people has the possibility of changing towards a technological society due to the lack of personal progress through technology, and the misunderstanding of this tool is leading future professionals to become technologically dependant; in other words to rely only on technology without considering the possible consequences that it might have on future professionals development and their educational background. The overuse of educational technology has been growing over the recent years due to the emergent technological developments around the world; however, it can be solved by searching for a new balance between the uses of technology within education.
Today’s reality is that young people will require a new set of knowledge, skills, and dispositions to succeed in our rapidly changing, knowledge-based, global economy. This requires that learners have opportunities to explore, test, venture, and create so they can develop the assets they will need to benefit from and contribute to an increasingly information-filled world. Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” The importance of an education is repeatedly shown through past and present events. Those who can’t afford an education do whatever it takes to try and learn. They know that it will lead to a better future for them. An education will not only lead to a job with more money, but it will also expand people’s minds. They will be able to create new ideas and inventions. The best way for us to change the world is through educating our youth. With a better education, they can become inspired to invent new things. Some could grow up to find cures to diseases. Educating the youth is the key to changing the world. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. The best way for us to give a good education to our youth is by refining our school system. We need to redefine the term ‘education.’ Teachers in classrooms change the world because they are teaching the future generation that will one day lead. If we want to change the world for the better, educating the youth is th...
