In recent times, health care has been a widely debated issue in the United States. Some people say that a universal health care system would bring costs down and increase access to care. Others say it would be too expensive and would reduce the quality of care. Some also believe we need to develop a new healthcare system to mold to the problems of our country. Until we can come to an agreement we are stuck with the faulty healthcare system we have today. The main argument for universal healthcare is the fact that the number of uninsured U.S. residents has grown to over 45 million. This alone shows the growing importance for new healthcare legislation. Not enough Americans are getting the healthcare we need with the current legislation we have in act.
